11 3.2 Hard-Disk Driv e Installat ion The M V -DR400 0 is capable of suppor ting t wo hard d rives - O ne int ernal dr ive (f rom factor y) and one hot swappable m obile dr ive (fac tory opt ion). The intern al HDD (com partment HD1), is default-conf igured as a master .

14 3.4 Up dating Syst em Sof tware If the s y st em s oftware of the M V -DR400 0 needs to be upgrade d, please tak e the f ollowing ste ps to safely update it. Important : Before carrying out the follow ing p rocedures, please ensure t he SD card is w orking and the f ile of system software is intact 1.

BA SIC OPERA TIONS This section outlines the bas ic operating instr uctions f or the 4CH DVR. 4.1 Configuring Recording Settings Recording Time se ttings (Recording Rate and P icture Quality Setting) Recordin g time wil l var y dependin g on the im age si ze, rec ording rate, and the ca pacity of the h ard-dis k drives.
16 NOTE 1: Recording times on the tables abov e are estimated. Fo r actual available recording t ime of a recording configu ration, please refer t o the system informatio n of the DVR. ( Please refer to section 3.3 system inf ormation fo r more details.
17 4.2 Recording Operations This section details the various recording m ethods available – Manual, Timer , Alarm , and External. Before c omm encing with the recor ding function, pleas e configur e the recording s ettings properly according to your needs.
18 NOTE: If a programmed schedule falls within the current set time of the DVR, reco rding will begin upon exiting progr amming. NOTE: If you activate the recording function before the scheduled recording, the unit will operate recording as sh own in the diagram belo w and keep tho se Image s in differ ent files.

20 4.2.3 A larm / Mot ion Recording T ake the follo wing ste ps to activat e the progr amm ed alarm rec ording. For ALM OPER A TION , REC R A T E , REC QU ALITY , AUDIO , AL M T Y PE , ALM DUR A T ION , and PR E- ALARM settings, please ref er to section 5.
21 4.2.4 External ly triggered Recording By connec ting the RECORD IN of ALARM I/O on the rear panel of the DVR, y ou can activate/deactivate the rec ording func tion of a DVR. The f ile will be kept with a prefix ed “R” . Please ref er to section 2.
22 4.3 Play back Operations This section o utlines the controls and opt ions av ailabl e during playback of recorded v ideo. W hen playing a f ile, the m onitor s hould d ispla y a flashin g PLA Y m essage and t he PL A Y button will light up indicating that the DVR is in the playback status.
23 4.3.2 Slow Forw ard/ Reverse There ar e 4 speeds available f or a slow play back : 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16. W hile play ing bac k r ecorded video at the rec orded speed: (1) Press th e P AUSE button f or the slow playback m ode.
24 4.4 Search Operations This section shows you how to access rec orded video. 4.4.1 Full List Search T ake the f ollowing steps to proceed with the full-lis t search f unction. (1) Press the Search button to enter the s earch m ode. (2) Sel ect the FULL LIST and press the Ent er button to ac cess the c omplete list of recor ded video.
25 4.4.2 A larm list Search T ake the f ollowing steps to proceed with the alarm -list sear ch function. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the s earch m ode. (2) Sel ect the AL AR M L I S T and pr ess the Ent er button to acces s the com plete list of alarm -event recor ded video.
26 4.4.4 THUMBNA IL Search T ake the f ollowing steps to proceed with the thumbnail s earch f unction. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the s earch m ode. (2) Sel ect the THUM BNA IL and press the Enter button to ac cess the thum bnail page. (3) Set the date you w ish to sear ch for the recorded video.
27 NOTE: If you would like to delete JPG f ile in the SD card, please r eturn to SD CA RD JPG FILE list page and highlight the specif ic JPG f ile of your requirem ent and press the Set up button and then select the “Y es” to delete the im age. 4.
28 AL AR M : Duplicate all the alarm -event r ecorded video f rom HD 1 to HD2. S tay on the DISK SETT ING page. Us e the “ ^ ” and “v” buttons, and , to highlight BA CKUP ; sele ct AL AR M , then press the En ter button to proc eed. SELECT : Duplic ate a particular recor ded video from HD1 to HD2.
29 NOTE: If the capacity of HD 2 is not suff icient to sto re all selected video, a w arning message “HD2 SP ACE NOT ENOUGH ” will be displayed on the screen. Please, insert a larger capacity of hard-disk drive an d start the process all ov er again.
30 2. A rchive video of A VI Clips into SD Card Please take the f ollowing steps to archive a cr itical video in a SD card. (1) Inser t a SD Card into the SD card slot of the rear unit. (2) S tart playing back the recor ded video. (3) Press the P AUSE button to f reeze the desired pictur es.
31 4.6 Key Lock Operation The Key lock operation pr otects the unit against unauthorized use by disabling the entire front panel controls. Pres s the Enter button (as shown below) for at least 3 sec onds to lock the unit; to release the Key Lock , press the button again.
32 5. M ENU SETUP There ar e 6 categories of operation settings able to be configured f rom the setup m enu. The following sections will provide step-by-step instruc tions for configuring/c hanging the setup options. Pres s the Setup button to acces s the setup m enu.
33 5.1 REC SE TTING This page allow s you to set the recording r ate and recording quality , and enables you to continue recording when the disk is f ull. NOTE: Pleas e see chart in s ection 4.1 to help determ ine the appropriate settings for REC RA TE and REC QUALIT Y accor ding to y our desired r ecord tim e.
34 5.2 AL A RM / MOTION SETTING This menu allows us ers to program the conf iguration of alarm recording only when an alarm input is activated. The device will rec ord as long as the alar m input is activated. A LM OPERA TION: This option determines whether to activate/deactivate the alarm recor ding when it detects an alarm input.
35 A LM T YPE: This option allows users to set a type of alarm input corr esponding to the sensor signal in use. NO: Norm ally Open. T his is to b e used wit h the t ype of alarm s ensor whose contact rem ains open in norm al conditions and clos es in case of activation.
36 PRE- ALA RM : This option deter mines whether im ages that occ urred prior to an alarm prior to a n alarm activation will be record ed. W hen an a larm is trigger ed the d evice will r ecord the im age prior to the a larm for 5 seconds. ( 10 frames/sec ) ON: Enables this f unction.
37 5.3 TIMER/ SEQ/ TITLE The DVR provides a weekly t able, cons isting of two periods of time eac h day for scheduled recording. T his option allows y ou to set the tim e each day that the DVR will start and stop recording.
38 SEQUENCER: This entr y allows users to s et the DW ELL time( tim e interval) f or CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, and quad view( ), the valid values are 01 ~ 99 sec onds, set to 00 would disable the c orresponding channels during the s equential jum ping is proc eed.
39 5.4 COMMUNICA TION This option allows you to conf igure the Eth ernet sett ings when c onnected to a LAN/WAN as well as RS-232/485 protocols if connec ted to an external contr ol device. CO MM I D: Comm unication ID f or RS232 and RS485 com m unication.
40 NET DHCP: This option selects enable or disable f or the DHCP com munic ation function. OFF: Disables it. ON: Enables it. NOTE: If provided w ith a DHCP server , the 4CH DVR can get an IP automatically by setting this option to ON. NET IP: This option is used to conf igure the Ethernet com m unication settings .
41 REC RA T E: This option deter mines the recording rate to be r ecorded at when the FT P function occurs . There are 4 levels of recording r ates to choose f rom : 1 F / 1 S, 1 F / 10 S, 1 F / 30 S and 1 F / 60 S. A CCOUNT: This option is used to conf igure the FT P account settings.
42 5.5 DISK SETTING REFORMA T : This option allows y ou to clear out all the data in the hard-dis k drive. Y ou will be required to enter the pre-set pass word before proc eeding with clearing out the data. Enter the standard password “9999” if you don’t set your individual p ass word.
43 5.6 SYSTEM This section is us ed for ac cess ing the histor y of the operation s tatus, sett ing the pass word, resum ing factor y default, and deter mining the m enu display background. OPERA TION LOG: This log shows the history of the operation status in c hronological order .
44 BUZZER: This option determines the embedded buzzer sounding a tone to signal the following situations. A tone lasts about two seconds long. ON: Enables buzz er .
45 VERSION: This item is in the setup m enu reveal network MAC, BIO S version, and sof tware version, and last updated date. MAC : 00 : 0c : 0c : 00 : 00 : 07 BIOS : 1.
46 6. RS-232 & RS-485 Protocol 6.1 Setup 6.1.1 Use a Null Modem cable (the s tandard RS-232 9 Pin Cable with Pin 2 and Pin 3 exchanged, see pin configur ation chart below for details) to c onnect the COM 1 on the rear panel of the DVR to a PC. 6.1.

50 6. 6. Secure the driver in the rack using two mounting s crews in both the side-m ounting holes. Please don’t tighten the screws too m uch, otherwise that may damage the dr iver . 7. 8. 7. Scr ew the rack into the devic e, screwing in all the f our scr ews.
51 3. Slide the top cover back ward and rem ove. 4. Setting the jum per of your hard disk driver . The way to set the jumper of the drive var ies between manuf acturers ; please refer to the instruct ions on the driver to set the j umper s in the m aster position.

64 10.2 The Image Viewer This is im age integrity -protec t software. It not only allow s you to view an arc hived image f rom the SD card or HDD of a com puter , but also pr otects an archived im age from repr oduction or interpolation.
65 1 1. Index T able The f ollowing description details how the DVR manages an index table issue. The DVR will generate a tim e index table indicating rec orded data is kept in a partic ular HDD. This allows to individually selec ting recorded data to be displayed via the alarm lis t searc h and full list search.

81 8. The ‘AutoPan’ section has three buttons. T he ‘S tart’ and ‘End’ buttons fix the two points of any p anning m ovement you select. The third or bottom button s ets the chosen m ovem ent in the play m ode.

84 5. Manual insertion of “Free IP Address ”. If you have clicked “ No”, please m anually ty pe in inser tions as requir ed in the “Free IP Address ”, “Gateway Address ”, and “NET Mas k”.
