5 .5 < Loading pri nt media> Using the tray 1 or the optional tray 2 Use the print material you use for the majority of your prin t job s in the tray 1. The tray 1 can hold a maximum of 250 sh eets of 75 g/m 2 (20 lb) paper . Y ou can purchase an optional tray 2 an d attach it below the tray 1 to loa d an additional 250 sheets of paper .
5 .6 < Loading pri nt media> Note s • Do not push th e paper width guide far enough to cause the material to warp. • If you do not adjust the paper wid th guide, it may cause p aper jams.
5 .7 < Loading pri nt media> Knowing an output location The output tray collects paper face down, in the order in which the sheets were printed. Notes • If you continuously print many pa ges, the surface of the output tray may become hot. Be careful not to touch the surface, and especially keep children away from the surface.

Return the gu ide rear to its origina l position. 3 Close the rear cover. Printing auto mati cally resumes. 9 .5 < Troubleshooti ng> T roubleshooting checklist If the printer is not working properly , consult the following checklist. If the printer does not pass a step, follow the corresponding suggested solutions. Condition Suggested solutions Make sure that the Online LED on the control panel lights green.

9 .9 < Troubleshooti ng> Wrinkles or creases • Ensure that the paper is loaded properly . • Check the paper type and quality . See page 5.2. • T urn over the stack of paper in the tray . Also try rotating the paper 180° in the tray . Back of printouts are dirty • The transfer roller may be dirty .

Basic Printing 12 Printing to a file (PRN) Y ou will sometimes need to save the print dat a as a file for your purpose. T o create a file: 1 Check the Print to file box at the Print window . 2 Select the folder and assign a name of the file and then click OK.

Advanced Printing 20 Using W atermarks The W atermark option allows you to pr int text over an existing document. For example, you may want to have large gray letters reading “DRAFT” or “CONFIDENTIAL” printed diagonally across the first page or all p age s of a document.
Advanced Printing 21 Using Overlays What is an Overlay? An overlay is text and/or images stored in the computer hard disk drive (HDD) as a special file format that can be printed on any document. Overlays are often used to take the place of preprinted forms and letterhead paper .
