5 Mains operation 1. Pla ce your clock radio on a flat surfa ce. 2. Plug the mains lead into the Socket located on the rear of your clock radio ensuring that the plug is pushed fully into the socket. 3. Plug the other end of the mains lea d into a wall socket and switch on the wall socket.
6 GB Operating your radio - DAB 1. Fully extend the telescopic aerial. Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of your clock radio. Pla ce the telescopic a ntenna so that it is a s vertical a s possible extending either above or below the radio.
7 Selecting a station - DAB 1. The top line of the display shows the n a me of the station currently selected. 2. Press the Tuning Up or Down buttons to scroll through the list of available stations. Stop pressing the T uning Up or Down buttons when you find the station that you wish to hear.
8 GB Display mode s – DAB Y our clock radio ha s a range of display modes:- 1. Press a nd relea se the Info button to cycle through the various mode s. Displays scrolling text message s such as artist/tra ck na me, phone in number etc. Displays a gra ph showing the signal strength for the station being received.
9 Finding new radio station s – DAB As time pa sses new stations may become availa ble. T o find new stations proceed a s follows:- 1. With the ra dio switched on a nd in DAB mode, pre ss a nd relea se the Auto Tune button. The display will show “Scanning.
10 GB M a nual T uning – DAB Ma nual tuning allows you to tune your clock radio to a particular DAB frequency . Any new stations found will be a dded to the station list.
11 Dyn a mic Ra nge Control (DRC) - DAB The D RC fa cility can ma ke quieter sound ea sier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment. There are three levels of DRC compre ssion, DRC off: DRC is switched off, broa dca st DRC will be ignored.
12 GB Operating your radio – FM auto-tune 1. Fully extend the aerial located on the rear of your clock radio. Pla ce the antenn a so that it is an straight a s possible, extending either above the radio. 2. Press a nd relea se the On / StandBy button to switch on your clock radio.
13 Display mode s – FM In FM mode the bottom line of the display ca n be set to a ny of the following display options:- 1. Press a nd relea se the Info button to cycle through e a ch of the options.
14 GB Pre setting station s - DAB a nd FM There are 5 memory presets on the pa nel for ea ch of the 2 waveba nds. However , There are 10 me mory presets on the re mote control for ea ch of the 2 waveba nds. 1. Press a nd relea se the On / Sta ndBy button switch on the ra dio.
15 Sca n sen sitivity setting Y our radio will normally sca n for FM broadca sts which are strong enough to give good reception. However , you may wish the Sca n function to also be able to f ind we a ker signals, possible from more dista nt ra dio tra n smitters.
16 GB Stereo / Mono setting – FM Y our clock radio will play stereo broadca sts in stereo (via headphone s) so long a s the received sign al is of adequate strength. However , a s a stereo signal become s we a ker , the audio signal will become poorer .
17 Clock display 1. When your clock ra dio is in Standby mode, the display normally show the current time, date, month a nd year . 2. During Sta ndBy mode the clock will rece ive update s from the la st station tuned to before entering Sta ndBy mode. When in Sta ndBy mode your radios clock will automatically tra ck Summer / Winter time cha nges.
18 GB Setting the time a nd the date ma nually The DDR-31 Plus will automatically set its clock when tuned to a DAB radio station or to a n FM station which is broadca sting the time via RDS. If the clock ca nnot be set using DAB or FM ra dio then you will need to set the time a nd the date ma nually bef ore the alarm function ca n be used.

Press the T uning Up or Down button s to switch the “Set date format “ mode. There are two “Set date f ormat“ modes a s DD-MM-YYYY a nd MM-DD-YYYY .
22 GB Setting the alarm time s Y our clock radio ha s two alarms which ca n be set to wa ke you either radio or buzzer alarm. Ea ch alarm can be set to sound once, daily , on weekdays or at weekends. Note: If no buttons are pressed for 10 seconds, your clock radio will exit the alarm set up.
23 9. Press a nd relea se the Select button to confirm your selection. The alarm duration setting is stored in the radio. 10. The source digits on the display will fla sh. Press the T uning Up or Down buttons until the desired source is set. There are three “Source“ options a s FM, Buzzer and DAB.

25 22. Press a nd rele a se the Select button to confirm the alarm setup setting. The alarm setup setting is stored in the radio. 23. The display will show “Alarm saved” a nd will a ppear alarm symbol indicating the alarm is set. 24. Pres the T uning Up or Down buttons to select Off.
26 GB Stop the alarm When alarm is a ctive, press the On / StandBy button to stop the alarm (radio a nd buzzer). Note: When alarm is a ctive, pre ss a ny button (except the On / Sta ndBy button)to enter into “5 minute s Snooze Mode”. Ca nceling alarms 1.
27 Slee p timer Y our clock radio ca n be set to turn off after a pre set ti me ha s ela psed. The sleep timer ca n be adjusted between 15 and 90 minutes in 15 minutes increments (except 75 minutes). Ensure your clock radio is switched on. 1. Press a nd hold down the Sleep button until desired sleep time a ppears on the display .
28 GB EQ function The sound on your sound system ca n be adjusted to suit your personal ta ste for the material that you are listening to. The DDR-31 plus ha s six preset equalizer modes. Alternatively , you may set the treble and ba ss levels to your own preferences.
29 T reble control 1. Press the EQ button to cycle through the modes until “Treble” a ppears on the display . The current treble setting will be shown on the display. 2. T o adjust the treble setting press a nd relea se the Tuning Up or Down buttons until the desired level is displayed.
30 GB Mute function Press the Mute button on the remote control of your radio, it will mute the output from the loudspea ker. 1. Press the Mute button to mute the sound output. The display will show “V olume Muted“. 2. Press the Mute button again or one of the V olume Up or Down buttons to un-mute the sound output.
31 Fa ctory re set If your clock radio fails to operate correctly or some digits on the display are missing or incomplete, carry out the following procedures. 1. Press a nd relea se the On / StandBy button to switch on your clock radio. 2. Press a nd rele a se the Advanced button.
32 GB Software version The software display ca nnot be altered a nd is just for your reference. Ensure your radio is switched on a nd in DAB or FM mode. 1. Press a nd relea se the On / StandBy button to switch on your clock radio. 2. Press a nd rele a se the Advanced button.
33 USB socket for software upgrade Software updates for your clock radio may be availabe in the future. As software updates become available software and information on how to update your radio can be found at www.sangean.com.tw/index_tw.asp , www.sangean.
