6 Section 1 Activ ating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are pr ovided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscripti on details, such as yo ur PIN, any optional services available, and many others.
Section 1: Getting Started 7 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 4. Grasp the top of the battery with your finger and lift up in the directi on of the arro w . Remove the batter y . 5. Slide the SIM card in to the SI M card socket so tha t the card locks into place.

26 Section 3 Making a Call from the Phonebook Y ou can sto re phone numbers that you use r egularly on the SIM card or in the phone’s memory . These entries are co llectively called the Phonebook. Once you have stor ed a number in the Phonebook, you can dial it by pressing a fe w keys.

Section 3: Call Functions 29 Call records Section 3 Missed calls This menu lets you view the 30 most r ecent calls you received, but did not answer . The number and name, if already stor ed in your Phonebook, displa ys with th e number of occurr ences of each number .

Section 3: Call Functions 31 Call records Section 3 Call time This menu lets you view the time log for calls made and rec e iv e d . Note: The actual time invoiced by your ser vice provider may differ from times displayed due to networ k features and ser vice plan.
32 Section 3 Silent mode Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone fr om making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, pr ess and hold the key until the “Silent mode on” messa g e and the Silent mode icon ( ) display . In Sile nt mode, instea d of soun ds, your phone will vibrate.

Press the appropria te soft key . 2. T o sele ct the function displayed or the optio n highligh ted, press the Select soft key or the key .
34 Section 3 Options Durin g a Call Y our phone provides a numb er of cont rol function s that you can use during a call. Switch to phone/Switch to headset (Bluetooth only) Y ou can use this option to switch between us ing your Bluetooth headset and using your phone’s earpiece and micr ophone without interrupting the call in pr ogress.
Section 3: Call Functions 35 Selecting Functions and Options Section 3 Example: Y ou wish to s ay somethin g to a person in the r oom but do not want the person on the phone to hear you. T o swit ch the micr ophone of f temporarily: 1. Press the Options soft key and highligh t the Mute option.
36 Section 3 Or 1. Press the Options soft key and select Hold call . 2. Make the seco nd call in the nor mal way . When you have an active call and a call on hold, you may switch between the two calls, changing the one on hold to active and placing the o ther on hold.

52 Section 5 Changing the T ext Input Mode When using yo ur phone, you wi ll often need to enter text, such as when stori ng a name in your Phonebook, cr eating your personal gr eeting or scheduli ng events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphan umeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.

60 Section 6 Storing a Number in the Phone’ s Memor y The default for saving phone numbers to your phonebook is your phone’s memory . Y ou can also save it to your SIM card or you can set your default so that whenever a new phonebook entry is created, you will be pr ompted to choose between Ph one or SI M card .

92 Section 7 Outbox This message box stores messages that you have attempted to send but have no t actually been sent yet. When you enter this menu, th e li st of messages in the box disp lays with the reci pients’ phone numbers or names, if availa ble in your Phonebook.
