Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to start using your phon e by first configuring your hard ware, activa ting your ser vice, and then setting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is necessar y to install both the bat tery and SIM into their correspo nding internal compartments.
6 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the phone does not detect the SIM card. Re-orient the card back into the slot. Installing the M emor y Card Y our phone also supports the use of a memory card (microSD) for data storage of suc h things as data, music, pictures, and video files.

12 14. Right Soft key : allows y ou to select soft key actions or menu items corresponding to th e bottom right line on the display screen. 15. Navigation keys : this key allows you to scroll through phone menu options and provid es a shortcut to phone functions from standby mode.

16 Section 3: Menu Naviga tion This section explains th e menu navi gation fo r your phone. It also includes an outline of all the a vailable menus assoc iated with your phone. Some menu optio ns are controlled by the SIM provided by your ser vice provider .
Menu Navigation 17 Using Sh or tcut Num bers Numbered menu item s, such as menus , sub-menus, and option s can be quickly accessed by us ing their shortcut numbers. In Menu mode, Main Menus can be accessed by pressing the number keys (1 to 0, * and #) co rresponding to their location on the screen.
18 Section 4: Entering T ext This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text entry mode when entering characters usin g th e QWER TY keyboard -style keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the numb er of key strokes needed to enter text.
Entering T ext 19 Changing the T ext Input Mode The avai lable T ext Input modes are: Fn ( 123 numeric), Abc , and Symbols (Sym ) . Refer to the T ext Input mode in the upper right corner of the sc reen to identify th e mode. • Abc : activates the default alphabe t keys.

Call Functions 23 When you h ave an active cal l and a call o n hold, you m ay switch between the two ca lls, changing the one on hol d to active and placing the other on hold. T o s witch between t wo calls: 䊳 Press Options ➔ Swap . T o end a specific call: 䊳 Press to end the current call.
24 If you ar e engaged in a cal l, you can place the acti ve call on hold by selecting th e New Call option and either di aling anot her number or answering another in coming call. Once the se cond call is activ ated, the fo llowing opt ions are a vailable: • Swap : Places the active call on hold and then re- activates the call on hold.

38 Langua ge This menu allows you to select a display language for T ext language and T ext Input mode. Cho ose from Automatic, English, Français, and Español. 1. In Idle mode, selec t Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Language and press the key . 2. Highlight t he Screen T ext field and press Change .
Changing Y o ur Settings 39 Slide Down Setting This setting allows you to choose what di splays on th e main screen when you slid e down your phone. 1.
40 Note: This SIM password is typically the last four digits of the current phone number . Y ou can obtain a SIM pass word from an A T&T customer service representa tive. Check PIN Code • When the Check PIN Code feature is enabled, you must enter your PIN each time you switch on the phone with the SIM Card.

Once your phone has been rese t to its defaul t s ettings fo r those sele cted options, i t will restart itself in orde r to incorporate the new settings. Note: User Data such as contacts, messages, pictures, videos, and music is not deleted.

Press Save to store the new name. • Recording Time : allows you to choose the maximum limit al lowed for the recorded audio file (1 Minute, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes,15 Minut es, 3 0 Minu tes, 60 Min utes , or Li mit for MMS).

52 Section 7: Understanding Y our Ad dress Book This section allows you to manage your contac ts by storing their name and number in your Addr ess Book. Y ou ca n sort Address Book entri es by name, entry , or group. Y ou can also synchronize your phone Address Book with A T&T Address Book, the ne twork backup service.

54 Note: Ringtones assigned to a contact will not be synchronized to A T&T Address Book. Adding More Field s to a Num ber While in the proc ess of creating a new entry or editing an exist ing contact, you can add additional fields to the entry’ s list of information.

76 Section 10: Mobile Video Y our phone is equipped with a W AP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser which allows yo u to access the Internet and download medi a files di rectly to your phone. These media files display using the bu ilt-in Media Player .

Messaging 81 Deleting Messages When your p hone’ s memory is full, an noti fication m essage displays and you cannot receiv e any new messages. Use the Delete option t o erase obso lete messages, f reeing memory for new messages. Y ou can delete th e messages e ith er individually or all at one tim e.
82 R eceiving Options This option specifies the catego ry of messages you want to receive and al lows you t o set the follo wing: • Send Deliver y Report : when this option is ena bled, the phone informs the network whether or not y our message was received.

A T&T Music 89 Section 14: A T&T Music A T&T Music is a music ser vice which provides you access to Music Player , Shop Music, MusicID 2, XM Radio, Music Videos, Make-UR-T ones, Community , and Music Applications.
