Getting star ted 13 Using dual SIM or USIM car ds If you inser t two SIM or USIM cards , you can have two phone numbers or service providers f or a single device . Activating SIM or USIM car ds On the Home screen, tap Apps → Settings → SIM card manager .
Getting star ted 14 Charg ing the batter y Use the charger t o charge the battery before using it f or the first time. A computer can be also used to charge the ba tter y by connecting them via the USB cable. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers , batteries, and cables.
Getting star ted 15 • The device can be used while it is char ging , but it may take longer to fully char ge the battery . • If the device receiv es an unstable power supply while charging , the touch screen may not function. If this happens, unplug the charger from the devic e.
Getting star ted 16 U sing a memor y card Installing a memor y card Y our device acc epts memor y cards with maximum capacities of 64 GB. Depending on the memor y card manufacturer and type, some memory cards may not be compatible with y our device . • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the device .
Getting star ted 17 Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val. On the Home scr een, tap Apps → Settings → Stor age → Unmount SD card . 1 Remove the back c over . 2 Pull out the memory card. 3 Replace the back cov er .
Getting star ted 18 T urning the devic e on and off Pr ess and hold the Po wer button f or a few seconds to turn on the device . When you turn on y our device f or the first time or after per forming a data reset, f ollow the on- screen instructions to set up your devic e.
Getting star ted 19 L ock ing and unlock ing the screen Pr essing the Po wer button turns off the scr een and locks it. Also , the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used f or a specified period.
20 Basics U sing the touch scr een • Do not allow the touch scr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch scr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touch scr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.
Basics 21 T apping and holding T ap and hold an item or the screen f or more than 2 seconds to access a vailable options. Dragging T o move an it em, tap and hold it and drag it to the target position. Double -tapping Double -tap on a webpage or image to zoom in.
Basics 22 F licking Flick left or right on the Home screen or the A pps screen to see another panel . Flick up or down to scr oll through a webpage or a list of items , such as contacts. Spreading and pinching Spread two fingers apart on a webpage, map , or image to zoom in a part.
Basics 23 Home screen la y out Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for acc essing all of the device’ s featur es. It displays widgets, shortcuts to apps, and mor e. W idgets are small apps that launch specific app functions to provide inf or mation and con venient access on y our Home screen.

Basics 25 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap Apps to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, scr oll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bott om of the screen.
Basics 26 Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen. T he icons listed in the table below are most c ommon. The status bar ma y not appear at the top of the scr een in some apps. T o display the status bar , drag down from the top of the scr een.

Basics 31 Enabling apps On the Apps screen, tap → Show disabled apps , select apps, and then tap Done . Alternativ ely , on the Apps screen, tap Settings → Application manager , scroll to DISABLED , select an app, and then tap Enable . • Hiding apps: H ide apps in the Apps screen only .

Network connectivit y 40 Using USB t ethering Share the device ’ s mobile data connection with other devices via a USB cable . 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → T ethering and M obile hotspot . 2 Connect your device t o the computer via the USB cable .

P ersonalising 44 Managing folders T o rename a f older , select a folder , and then tap the existing f older name. Enter a new name for the f older and tap Done . T o change the colour of a f older , select a folder , tap , and then selec t a colour .
P ersonalising 45 Moving items On the Apps screen, tap → Edit . T ap and hold an item and drag it to a new location. T o move the it em to another panel, drag it to the side of the scr een. T o move an it em to a new panel, drag it to Crea te page that appears at the top of the scr een.
P ersonalising 46 Changing the scr een lock method Y ou can change the way that you lock the scr een to prev ent others from accessing y our personal information. On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Lock scr een → Screen lock , and then select a screen lock method.
P ersonalising 47 T ransf erring data fr om your pr evious device Using backup ac counts Y ou can transfer backup data from y our previous device to your new devic e using your Google account. Ref er to Back ing up and restoring data f or more information.

49 Phone Mak ing calls T ap Phone on the Apps screen. T ap Keypad , enter a phone number , and then tap or to make a voic e call, or tap to make a video call. Y ou can also make calls to phone numbers listed in Logs , F av ourites , and Con tacts . Acc ess additional options.
Phone 50 Mak ing calls from call logs or c ontac ts list T ap Logs or Con tacts , and then drag a contact or a phone number to the right to make a call . Mak ing calls from the fa vourites list Y ou can easily call contac ts that y ou communicate with fr equently by adding them to the fav ourite contacts list.
Phone 51 Speed dial numbers T ap Keypad . F or speed dial numbers, tap and hold the corresponding dig it. T o assign a contact to a speed dial number , tap and hold an available speed dial number on the keypad, tap OK , and then select a contact. Alternatively , tap → Speed dial , select a number , and then select a contact.
Phone 52 Missed calls If a call is missed, appears on the status bar . Open the notifications panel to view the list of missed calls. Camera 63 • The camera aut omatically shuts off when unused. • Make sure that the lens is clean. Other wise, the device may not w ork properly in some modes that requir e high resolutions. • The fron t camera lens is suitable f or tak ing wide -angle photos.
Camera 64 Shooting modes Au to Use this mode to allo w the camera to evaluat e the sur roundings and det ermine the ideal mode for the phot o . On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → → Aut o . Selfie Use this mode to take a self-portrait using the front camera.
Camera 65 4 Show your palm t o the screen or tap to take a photo of yourself . 5 Slowly rota te the device left and then right to take a panoramic phot o . The device combines the photos int o a single panoramic image. • Make sure to keep the blue frame inside the viewfinder windo w .
Camera 66 Rear- cam selfie Use this mode to allo w the camera to detect and focus y our face automatically when you take a self-por trait using the rear camer a. 1 On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → → Rear-cam selfie . 2 Move the frame t o the position where your face will appear and adjust the frame siz e.
Camera 67 Night Use this mode to take a phot o in low-light c onditions, without using the flash. On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → → Night . Animat ed GIF Use this mode to cr eate an animated photo fr om a series of photos. On the Apps screen, tap Camer a → → Animated GIF .
Camera 68 • Metering modes : Selec t a metering method. This determines how light values ar e calculated . Cen tre -w eighted measures backgr ound light in the centre of the scene . Spot measures the light v alue at a specific location. Matrix av erages the entire sc ene.
69 G aller y V iewing phot os or videos V iewing cont ent on the device On the Apps screen, tap Galler y and select an image or a video. Video files sho w the icon on the preview thumbnail. T o hide or show the menu bar and the preview thumbnails , tap the screen.

Connecting with other devices 86 P airing with other Bluetooth devices 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Bluetooth , tap the Bluetooth switch to activate it, and then tap Scan . The detected devices ar e listed. T o set the device as visible to other devic es, tap the device name .
Connecting with other devices 87 Receiving an image When another device sends y ou an image, ac cept the Bluetooth authorisation r equest. The receiv ed image is saved in the Galler y → Download folder . Unpairing Bluetooth devic es 1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Bluetooth .

Settings 97 Setting Network notification The device can det ect open Wi-F i networks and display an icon on the sta tus bar to notify when available . T ap → Adv anced and tick Network notification to activate this f eature . W i-Fi Dir ec t Wi-F i Direct connects devices directly via a Wi-F i network without requiring an access point .
