22 Section 3 Making a Call When the idle scr een displays, enter the area code and phone number , and pr ess the key . Note: When you activate the Auto redi al option in th e Extra settings menu, the phone will aut omaticall y redial up to 10 times when the per son does not answer the call or is alread y on the phone.

44 Section 5 Changing the T ext Entr y Mode When using yo ur phone, you wi ll ofte n need to enter text, such as when storing a nam e in Phone book, cr eating your personal gr eeting or scheduli n g e v e n t s o n y o u r c a l e n d a r . Y o u can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.

They are physically separate but ar e used as a single entity , called Phone book. Depending on your particular SIM car d, the maximu m number of phone numbe rs the SIM car d can stor e may dif fer .

66 Section 7 T ext Messages Short Message Service (S MS) allows you to send and receiv e short text messages to and from other mobile phones. In addition, your phone suppor ts the Enhanced Messaging Servic e (EMS), whi ch enables you to include simple pict ur es, melo dies, and animated images in your messag es.

The message is deleted after se nding. 䢇 Save and send: allows you to save a copy of the message to the Outbox and then send the message. 䢇 Save as draft: all ows you to save the message in the Outbox so that it can be sent later .

Section 7: Messag ing 85 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) Section 7 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) This network service allows you to r eceive text messages on various topics, such as th e weather or traffic. Cell Br oadcast (CB) messages display as soon as they ar e recei ved, prov ided that: • the phone is in Idle mode.
86 Section 7 IM (Instant Message) Instant Messenger (IM) is a way of sending short, simple messages that ar e deliver ed immedi ately to users o nline at that moment. Befor e using this featur e, you need to subscribe to a messenger service. For furt her details, contact your servic e pr ovider .

Section 8 88 Sound Settings Y ou can customize various sou nd settings. Ring T one This menu al lows you to select a ring melody . Y ou can choose between many dif ferent melodies. If you have downloade d sounds fr om the Internet, yo u can use them in this menu.

T o turn off the sou nd, se lect Off . Message T one This menu allows you to set up the ringer for incoming messages, text messages, mu ltimedia me ssages, and bro adcast messages.
Section 8 90 Picture Message This menu allows you to select how the phone informs you that a new multimed ia message has been r eceived. The following options ar e available: • T one: allows you to use one of several message tones . • Mode: allows you specify how you are informed of an y incoming messages.

Section 8 92 Extra T ones Y ou can customize addition al tones for the phone. 1. T o turn a given to ne on, press the On soft key or the key . A check mark di splays in front of the o ption. 2. T o turn a given to ne off, press th e Off soft key or th e key .

Y ou can also fi nd out what time it is in another part of the wor d. The following options ar e available: • Set time: allows you to enter the current time.
Section 8 94 䢇 Off: yo u nee d to manual ly se t the time a nd da te ac cord ing to the current time zone using the Set time menu (Menu 9. 1.1). 䢇 On: the phone automatically updates the time and date accordi ng to the current time zone using the network service.

When the image disp lays, press the Select soft key to display i t on th e idle screen . 䢇 T ext color: you can select the co lor of the text to be displayed on the idle screen. Menu Style This menu allows you to select the menu dis play style.
Section 8 96 Ser vice Light This menu allows you to sel e ct whether or no t the serv ice light is used. It also allows you to sel ect a color in which it flashes. Select one fr om the color combinations. When the phone is re ady for use, th e servi ce light flashe s in the chose n color .
