5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first steps to operating your phone. SIM Car d Inf or m at ion When you subscribe for 3G cellul ar network services, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, an d available op tional services.
Getting Started 6 Ins tal lin g and Remo vi ng th e SIM Ca r d Impo rtan t!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily dama ged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card, and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.
7 2. Press the bat tery down until it clicks into place. Ma ke sure that the battery is proper ly installed and not obstructing the SIM card before replacing the cove r . 3. With the batt ery in positio n in the phon e, hook the top of the batt ery co ver back on th e handset (1) and press it down (2) until it c licks.

Headset jack/Adapter jack : Allows you to plug in the travel adapter (power), o ptional PC conne ction cable (data transfer), and optional he adset for safe, convenient, hands-free conversations.

Understanding Y our Phone 16 Icons Shows the received si gnal strength. The greater the number of bars, th e stronger the signal. Appears when the phone is accessing services in a GPRS network. W hen data is being tr ansferred, this i con animates. Appears when the phone is accessing service s in an EDGE network.

If you select the Options soft key in Idle mode, the following di splays under the ti tle of My Menu: • YELLOWP AGES : allows you to perform a Business , Categor y , or Location search for listed phone numbe rs.
19 • T o move back to the previous function or op tion on a list, press the Up Navigation key or the key on the right side of the phone. • T o move b ack up one level in the menu s tructure, press the Back soft key . • T o exit the menu structure without c hanging the settings, press the key .
Understanding Y our Phone 20 • Press to return to standby mode from a ny menu. Send Key The Send key is used to ans wer calls, dial calls, and to recall the last number(s) di aled, rece ived, or missed. • Press once to answer calls. • Press to power on your phone.
21 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answ er a call. It also includes the features and function al ity associ ated with maki ng or answering a ca ll. Making a Call When the Idle screen di splays, enter the area code and pho ne number , and press the key .

Call Functions 24 Video Share (In-Ca ll) Y ou can begin a V ideo Share call during an existin g call by pressing the Options soft key and selecting V ideo Share ➔ Live . Play a Vi deo Shar e Recor ding During a call (while not in a Live V ideo Share session) you can share a recorded video for the recipient.
25 Note: If there is a voicemail sent by the same number , associated icons are displayed and can then be selected. 2. T o scroll through th e list of missed calls, press the Up or Down Naviga tion key . 3. T o move t o another ca ll type, press the Lef t or Right Naviga tion key .
Call Functions 26 Sending a M essage to a M issed Call T o send a text message or atta chment to a missed call entr y: 1. Immediately afte r missing a call, press the View s o f t k e y. A list of missed calls is displayed with the most recent ly missed call highlighted.
27 4. Press the Back soft ke y or the key to cancel this operation . Data V olume Data Volume refers to the amount of data (volum e) to and from the phon e. 1. From the Idle Screen, press the Menu so ft key , then select My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Recent Calls ➔ Da ta Volume .
Call Functions 28 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, if you want to adjust the ea rpiece volume, use the Vol u m e keys on the right side of the phone.
29 1. Press the Options soft key , then select End . 2. Select the call you wish to end. • Active Call : Only th e curr ently ac tive call is end ed. • Held Call : Only th e curren tly held c all is ended . • All Calls : All curr ent calls ar e ended and you are re turned to the Idle scr een.
Call Functions 30 Using the S peak erphone During an Activ e Call While in an activ e call, it is possible to enable the speakerp hone feature. 1. Dial th e number and press . 2. Once the c all is answe red, press to ac tivate the speakerphone. 3. Use the Vol u me keys (located on th e right side of your phone) to adjust the volume.

Call Functions 32 In Silent mode, your phone’ s speakers are mute d. An incoming call causes the phone to vibrate and light up, depending on the settings of the S ilent Phone Settings feature. T o exit and reactivate the prev ious sound settings, press and hold agai n until “Normal Pro file on” displays.
33 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains th e menu navi gation for your phone. It also includes an outline of all the a vailable me nus associated with your phone. Some menu optio ns are controlled by the SIM provided by your ser vice provider .

37 Pause/R esume This feature allows yo u to toggle the state of the current video between being P aused or Resumin g playback. Stop The feature stops the current media, exits the me dia player and returns you to the main CV homepage.

45 Videos This menu allows you shop for videos and to set up folders to save your videos using the W AP browser . 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Select My Stuff ➔ Vi de o s . 3. Highlight Shop Videos and press the Options soft key .
My Stuff 46 Alar ms This feature allows you to: • set the alarm to ring at a specific time. • set the phone to switch on automatically and ring the alarm even if the phone is switched off. Y ou can access t he Alarms menu by selecting My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Alarms and pressing the Select soft k ey or the key .

51 Section 6: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. Th is section also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entry system t o reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
Entering T e xt 52 T o change the text input mo de, use the following steps: 1. T o toggl e the text input mode between T9 mode and ABC mode, press and hold the key . 2. T o toggle from All Ca ps to Initial Caps, to Lo wer Case, or to Numeric entries while in either the T9 Mod e or the ABC Mode, short press the key .
53 Add a New W or d into the T9 Dictionar y 1. After pressing the keys corresponding to the word you want to add, press the ke y to displ ay the alt ernative words. 2. When the last alternative word is displayed, Spell displays. Press the Spell soft key .

59 2. Highlight the Speed Dial numbe r that you would like to change, and press the Options soft key . 3. Select Change , then select either Addr ess Book or FDN Contacts . 4. Using the navigation keys, highl ight the contact to assign to the Speed Dial number and press Select soft key or the key .

63 Chec king the Used Sp ace Y ou can check ho w many names an d numbers are stored in the Address book, in both SIM card and the phon e memory . Y ou can also see the capacity of both memories. 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key , then select Address Book .
Messaging 64 Section 8: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive diff erent types of messages. It also inc ludes t he features an d functi onalit y associated with messaging.
65 – Record Audio : allows you to tempor arily exit the message, recor d an audio clip using the ph one’ s microphone, and then add it to your message. – Record V ideo : allows you to temporarily exit the me ssage, record a video clip using t he phone’ s camera, and then add it to your me ssage.
Messaging 66 – Save as T emplates : allows yo u to save the cu rrent text message o r multimedia m essage to the current list of preset me ssage templates, such as (Out of th e Office, I’m in a m eeting). • Back : allows you to return to the ac tive message or to the Options menu from a sub-menu.
67 2. Press the Vi e w soft key or the key . The Messaging – Inbox scree n displays and lists info rmation about t he incoming messa ges. Note: If you exit from this Vi e w screen, you will need to go to the Messaging ➔ Inbox screen, the Recent Calls screen, or you will need to dial your Voicemail contact to access your messages.

Changing Y our Settings 8 4 Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-ra nge wireless communi cations technology capable of ex changing information over a dis tance of abo ut 30 feet witho ut requiring a physical c onnection. Un like in frared, you don't need to line up the devi ces to beam in formation with Bluetooth.

Follow the on-screen options. The downloaded files can be stored in t he Graphics folder found within the My Stuff (On phone) loca tion.
