Y our Phone 8 Key (s) Description In Menu mode, scroll through the menus. In Idle mode, allo ws y ou to access your f a vorite menus directly . For more information about shor tcuts, see “Shor t Cut” on page 142. In Menu mode, the Left k e y returns to the previous menu le v el and the Right ke y selects the ne xt menu.
Y our Phone 9 Makes or ans wers a call. When held down in Idle mode, recalls the last number dialed or received. In Menu mode, selects a menu function or stores information tha t you hav e entered, such as a name in the phone or SIM memor y . Deletes characters from the displa y .
Y our Phone 10 Display Display Layout The display has three areas: Enter special characters. P erf o rm various funct ions. (on the side of the phone) During a call, adju sts th e earpiece vol um e. Y our Phone 11 Area Description First line Displa ys v arious icons. See page 12. Middle lines Displays messages, instru ctions, and any information that you enter , such as the number y ou are di a lin g . Last line Shows the functions currently assigned to the two soft k eys .
Y our Phone 12 Icons Icon Description Shows the receiv ed signal strength. The greater the number of ba rs, the better the signal. If this icon is gra y , you are outside your network area and are restr icted to emergency calls only . Appears when you are connected to the GPRS network.
Y our Phone 13 Backlight A backlight illuminates the displa y and the k e ypad. When you press an y k ey or open the f older , the backlight turns on. It turns off when no keys are pressed within a giv en period of time, depending on your setting in the Bac k Light men u ( Menu 9.
Y our Phone 14 Ser vice Light The ser vice light is at the top right-hand cor ner of the phone. It flashes when services are av ailab le on the phone. T o activat e or deactiv ate the use of the ser vice light, set the Ser vice Light menu ( Menu 9.1.6 ).
Getting Star ted 15 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with y our subscription details, such as your PIN, an y optional ser vices av ailab le and man y others.
Getting Star ted 16 4. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card sock et so that it locks the card into place . Make sure the gold contacts of the card f ace into the phone. Note: When you need to remo ve th e SIM card, sl ide it, as shown, and tak e it out of the soc ke t.
Getting Star ted 17 5. Place the batter y so that the tabs on the end align with the slots at the bottom of the phone. 6. Press the batter y until it clicks into place. Mak e sure that the batter y is properly installed before s witching the phone on.
Getting Star ted 18 Note: Y ou must fully charge the battery bef ore using your phone f or the first time. A discharged batt ery is fully recharged in appro ximat ely 200 minutes. 1. With the batter y in position on the phone, plug the connector of the tra v el adapter into the jack at the bottom of the phone.

Selecting Functions and Options 29 Selecting Functions and Options Y our pho ne off ers a set of functions that allow y ou to customize y our phone . These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus , accessed using the two soft k eys marked and . Each menu and sub-menu allo ws y ou to view and alter the settings of a particular function.
Selecting Functions and Options 30 1. Press the appropriate soft key . In some functions, y ou ma y be asked f or a password or PIN. Enter the code and press the OK soft k ey or ke y . Note: When you access a list of options , you r phone highlights the current option.
Phonebook 31 Phonebook Y ou can store p hone numbers and their corresponding names in your SIM card and phone’ s memories. They are ph ysically separate but are used as a single entity , called Phonebook.

Note: When you change phones, an y numbers stored in yo ur SI M card memory are automatically available with the new phone, whereas any numbers stored in the phone’ s memory must be reentered.

Messaging 78 multimedia messages from phone to phone or from phone to e-mail. In addition to the f amiliar te xt content of te xt messages, multimedia messages can contain imag es and graphics . An MMS message is a multimedia presentation in a single entry .

If t he duration y ou set is shorter than the content dur ation (for ex am ple , th e le ng th of sou nd clip) for a particular page, the content duration is automatically decreased.

Network Ser vices 93 Call Barring The call barring network ser vice allows you to restrict your calls. Y ou can use the follo wing options to restrict voice and/or data calls: All Outgoing : calls cannot be made. International : inter national calls cannot be made.

Network Ser vices 97 Outside Access : lets you enab le or disab le calls to numbers other than those in the Closed User Group . This f eature depends on the nature of your CUG subscription. Please check with y our service provider . Default Gr oup: y ou may set a def ault CUG with your ser vice provider .

Games 99 Games When you access the Games men u, the list of the def ault games appears. Once you ha v e downloaded games , the y are added to the list.
