Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to get started wi th your phone by installing and charging the batter y , installing th e SIM card and optional memor y card, and setting up your voice mail. Before using your phone for the firs t time, you’ll need to install and charge the batt ery and install the SIM card.
6 Installing the SIM ca rd 1. Carefully slide the SI M card into the SIM card socket unt il the card clicks into place. Ma ke sure that the card’ s gold contacts face into the phone and that the upper-left angled corner of the card is positioned as shown.
Getting Started 7 Re moving the Memor y Card 1. Remove the phone’ s back cover . 2. Gently press t he edge of the me mory card with your thumbnail u ntil you hea r a cli ck sound (releasing th e card from the slot), then pull the memo ry card out of t he slot.
8 R e mo ving the Batter y 䊳 Grip the battery at the top end (1) and lift it up and out (2). Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-ion batte r y . A wall charger , which is used for charging the batter y , is included with your phone.

If the charger is incorrectly connected, damage to the accessory port will occur therefore voiding the phone’s warranty . 2. Plug the charger’ s power plug into a standard AC wall outlet.

12 Creating a New Google Account Y o u should create a Go ogle ™ Account when you first use your device in order to full y utilize the functionality . This account provides acces s to several device features suc h as Gmail, Goo gle Maps, Google Search, and the Android Market applica tions.
Getting Started 13 V oice Mail Setting Up Y our V oice Mail Y our device automati cally tra nsfers all unanswered calls to voicemail, even if yo ur phone is in use or turned off. As soo n as your battery is charged and the SI M card inserted, activate your voicemail a ccount.

24 Primar y Sho r tcuts The Primary Shortcuts list prov ides access to four co mmonly used items: The four , primar y shortcuts are non-movable application shortcuts that display on the bott om portion of all Home screens. Some of the pri mary shortcuts are context-sensitive.

Y ou can replace the Dialer , Contacts, and Messaging shortcuts with othe r applications so you access th e shortcuts that are most frequently used.

42 Section 3: Memor y Car d Y our device lets you use a microSD ™ (SD) or microS DHC ™ c ard (also referred to as a memory card) to expand a vailable me mory space. This secure digital card enables you t o exchange i mages, music, and data between SD-com patible devices.

46 Prefix Dialing When activated, this feature au tomatically prep ends a string of numbers (such as an area code ) to any dialed number . This feature is usefu l for international di aling, or dialing within an ar ea code where all the call s you make for a period of ti me use one prefix.
Call Functions and Contacts List 47 Using the V oice Dialer Voice dialer is a voice recogni tion software used to activ ate a wide variety of functions on your phone.
48 Wa it Dialing Inserting a Wait into your dialing se quence means that the phone waits until it hears a dial tone before proceedin g with the next sequence of numbers. 1. From the Home screen, touch and use the on-screen keypad to enter th e phone number .

The Speed dial screen contains a virtual keypad wi th the numbers 1 through 9. Import ant!: The number 1 is reserved for Voicemail and another number cannot be assigned to this slot.
50 W i-Fi Calling This feature allows you to make calls using a Wi-Fi over the T -Mobile network . Note: Minutes used while connected to the Wi-Fi network count against available rate plan minutes. Contact a Customer Ser vice representative for details.

52 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, use the Volume keys on the left si de of the phone, to adjust the earpiece vol ume. 䊳 T ouch the Up volume key to increase the volume leve l and the Down volume key to decre ase the level. – or – From the screen during a c all, press the Up Volume key .

54 Important!: A maximum of two callers can be joined to a single multi-party line. Additional callers participate in a new Multiparty session and held in conjunction with the previous multiparty call. Y ou can swap or place each multi-party call on hold.
Call Functions and Contacts List 55 Call Waiting Y ou can answer a n incoming call while you have a call in progress, if this service is supported by the network and you must have previously set th e Call wai ting option to Activate . Y ou are notified of an inco ming call by a call wai ting tone.
56 Call Logs T ab The Call logs tab is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entries) for calls yo u placed, acce pted, or missed. The Call logs tab make redialing a number fast and easy .

This list provides easy access to redial an entry , or yo u can also choose to access two types of history entry list s depending on how they are touched.

Entering T e xt 63 Using the Swype K eyboard Swype™ is a text input method that all ows you to enter a word by sliding yo ur finge r or stylus fr om le tter to letter , lifting you r finger between words. SWYPE uses erro r correcting algorithms and a language model to predict the ne xt word.

Contacts 65 Section 6: Contacts This section explains how to use a nd manage your Contacts List. Y ou can save phone numbers to your phone’ s memory. Accounts From the Accounts menu y ou decide if you want applications to synchronize, send, and receive data at any given time, or if you want the applications to sync hronize automat ically .
66 Contacts List Creati ng a Con tact The default storage location for saving phone numbers to your Contacts List is your phone’ s built-in memory . If existing Google and Corporat e email accounts have been synchronized to your phone, these will be made available t o your device during the creation of new entries.

70 Deleting Contacts This option allows you to delete yo ur contacts. Y ou can delete all your entries from your phone’ s memor y , your SIM card, FDN, or All. Important!: Once Contacts List entries are deleted, they cannot be recovered. 1. From the Home screen, touch .

72 Join ing Contact Information Most people now maintain multipl e email accounts, social networking logins, and other si milar account info rmation. For example, a F acebook account lo gin name might differ from a corporate email account login because they are maintain ed separately and for differ ent groups of people.

Contacts 75 Copying Contact Inf or mation Copyin g Contact In for mation to t he SIM Card The default storage l ocation for saving phone nu mbers to your Contacts list is your phone’ s built-in memor y . This procedure allows you to cop y numbers saved to the phone’ s memory , onto the SIM card.
76 3. T ap within the adjacent account field to reveal the account’ s synchronizat ion settings screen. 4. T o synchronize Contacts, tap Sync Contacts . A green checkmark in dicates the feature is e nabled. Note: The process of updating your Contacts tab can take several minutes.

T o add Facebook content to your Contacts list: Y ou can now add your Facebook contact information, such as pictures, email, and phone numbers directly to your Contacts list.
78 My Profile Y ou can send this Virtual Business Ca rd (V-card) to other contacts as an attachment. My Profile is the first Contact listed in the Contacts list. Note: As with any profile, your profile can be associated with a group. T o create My Profile: 1.

98 • List by : allows you to view the contents of the current folder sorted by Time, T ype, Name, or Size. • More : provides you with the additional opti ons: Move, Copy , Rename, Bluetooth visibility , and Settings. – Move : allows you to move o ne or more pictures to a different folder .
