6 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provide d with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, su ch as your PIN, any optional services available, and many others.
Section 1: Getting Started 7 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 3. Slide the SIM card into the SI M card socket so that the card locks into place. Make sure the gold contacts of th e card face into the phone. 4. Place the battery so tha t the tabs on the end alig n with the slots at the bottom o f the phone (1).
8 Section 1 Y ou can use the phone while th e battery is charging, but doing so wi ll require ad ditional charging t ime. Note: Y ou must fully char ge the battery before using your phone for the first time. A discharged battery recharges full y in approximatel y 200 minutes.

Section 3: Call Functions 29 Silent Mode Section 3 Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone fr om making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, pr ess and hold the key until the “Silent Mode On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) display .

46 Section 5 Changing the T ext Input Mode When using your ph one, you wi ll often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in your Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphan umeri c characters by using your phone’s keypad.

54 Section 6 Storing a Number in the Phone’ s Memor y The default for saving phon e numbers to your phonebook is your phone’s memory . Y ou can al so save it to your SIM card or you ca n set your default so that whenev er a new phonebook entry is created, you will be pr ompted to choose between Phone or SIM card .

58 Section 6 Finding a Phonebook Entry Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in your SIM card and phone’s memories. They are physically separate but ar e used as a single entity , called Phonebook. Depending on your particular SIM card, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM car d can stor e may diffe r .
Section 6: Understand ing Y our Phonebook 59 Finding a Phonebook Entry Section 6 • Call : places the call to the select ed phone number . • Assign speed dial : allows you to assign a speed dial key number to the select ed Phonebook entry . • Delete : allows you to delete th e selected name and number from your Phonebook or delete all numbers.

Dialing a Number from Phonebook Once you have stored phon e numbers in the Phonebook, you can dial them easil y and quickly by using the loc ation numbers that were assigned to them in the Phonebook.

90 Section 7 Outbox This message box stores messages that you have attempted to send but have not actually been sent yet. When you enter this menu, the list of message s in the box displays with the recipients’ phone numbers or names, if available in your Phonebook.
Section 7: Messages 91 Drafts Section 7 When you enter this menu, the list of messages in the box displays. Note: By pressing the Left or Right Navigation keys, you may scroll between Inbox, Sentbox, Outbox, and Drafts. 1. In Idle mode, press t he Menu soft key to access Menu mode.
92 Section 7 T emplates Besides en tering messag e text using the keypad keys , you can speed message compositi on by including copies of stored text (T emplates) in your message. 1. In Idle mode, pr ess the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Using the Navigation ke ys, scroll to the Messages icon .

Settings In this menu, you can set up default text message, pictur e message, and push message information. The last setting you accessed is automatica lly activated for sending subsequent messages.
Section 7: Messages 95 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) Section 7 • Read reply : when this option is enabled, your phone sends a request for a reply along with your message to the recipient. • Priority : you can select the priority level of your messages.
96 Section 7 Instant Messaging Instant Mess aging is a way of sending short, simple messages that are deliver ed immediately to users online at that moment. Before using this feat ure, you need to subsc ribe to a messenger service. For furt her details, contact your service provider .
Section 7: Messages 97 Memory Status Section 7 Using the Instant Messenger Options After selecting an Instant Messaging serv ice, the following options appear: • Sign on/Connect/Sign in : allows you to login to your Instant Messagin g account. • Saved conversations : shows permanent records of your Instant Messaging conversations.

Section 8 100 Time & Date Settings This menu allows you to chan ge the current time and date displayed. The following options ar e available: • Set time: allows you to change the ho ur and minute. • AM/PM: allows you to set either AM or PM. • Time format: allows you to select whether your time is displayed in 12 hour or 24 hour format.
