Getting S tarted 3 Getting Started SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular ne twork, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) ca rd loa ded with your subscription detail s, such as your PIN, and optio nal services you have selected.
Getting S tarted 4 2. Pull the top edg e of the cover away from the back of the pho ne then slide the cover up until the catches at the bottom are re leased. 3. Lift the battery out of the phone (botto m edge first). Installing the SIM Ca rd Important! The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending.
Getting S tarted 5 Position the SIM card with the gold contacts fac ing toward the phone an d the angled corner at the outer right sid e (as indicated on the p hone), then slide the card into the SIM socket. T o re move the SIM card, slide it o ut of the socket.
Getting S tarted 6 2. Press the battery down until it is seated in the battery chamber. Make sure that the battery is properl y installed be fore replacing the cover .
Getting S tarted 7 4. With the cover pressed tight against the phon e, use a coin or thumbnai l to turn the cover locking thum bscrew clockwise until the s lot aligns with the closed lock icon. Charging the Ba ttery Y our phone is powered by a recharg eable Li-ion (lithium ion ) battery .
Getting S tarted 8 with the triangle o n the connector faci ng the front of yo ur phone and plug the connecto r into the jack. 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC wall out let. If the phone is o ff, the display indicate s that the phone is charging.

Y our Phone 14 navigation keys work as shortcuts, allowing you to access othe r menus directly . The shortcu ts are: When entering text, th e left and right navigati on keys move the cursor left and right. 15. Earpiece : Used to listen to callers. Press Right to access the Messages Inbox.
Y our Phone 15 Display Display Layout The internal di splay has thre e main areas: Area Description Icons Displays various icons that ind icate phone st atus. T ext an d graphics area Displays messages, menus, instructions and any information that you ent er , such as the number you are dialing.
Y our Phone 16 Icons Shows the received s ignal strength. The mo re bars, the stronger the signal . Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when there is no network coverage avai lable. Appears when the phone is accessing service s on a GPRS (2.5G) network.
Y our Phone 17 Appears when a memory card is inserted. Appears when Bluetooth wire less technology is active. Appears when the p hone’s profile is set to Silen t. Appears when the p hone’s profile is set to Dri ving. Appears when the p hone’s profile is set to Outdoor .
Y our Phone 18 Selecting Functions and Options Soft Keys There are two soft keys, l eft and right (see “Open View of Y our Phone” on page 12). The roles of the soft ke ys vary depending on the function you are currently using. Th e icons or labels on th e bottom line of the display just above each key indicate their current role .
Y our Phone 19 Press and hold to turn on your phone. Briefly press once to disconnect a call . Press to return to st andby mode from a me nu. Send Key The Send key is used to answer ca lls, dial calls, a nd to recall the las t number(s) dialed, re ceived, or missed.
Y our Phone 20 When the applicat ion-switch windo w is open, sc roll to the applic ation you want to open using the navigation keys, or press the Multi tasking key repeatedly . Whe n you have highli ghted the applicati on you want, press <Select> or [ ] to laun ch that applicatio n.
Y our Phone 21 Note: Before using a microSD card, it must be form atted with the F A T32 file system. Check the documentation that came with the memory card and, if necessary , format the card. Inserting a microSD Card Note: Ensure your battery is fully charged before using a microSD card.
Y our Phone 22 Note: If this is the first time t hat the microSD card is inserted into your phone, the phone automatically creates a series of folders on it for file storage (Ring Tunes, Graphics, Video, Music Vo i c e l i s t) . Removing a microS D Card Warning! Do not remove a microSD card while f iles are being accessed or transferred.
Y our Phone 23 T o ins ert a microSD card into a microSD adapter, hold the card with the label side facing up and the gol d contacts toward the adapter. Gently insert the card into the a dapter and slide it into the adapter unt il it is fully inserted.
Call Functions 24 Call Functions Making a Call From the Idle screen, en ter the phone number (with area code, if necessary), then p ress [ ] . Note: When you activate the Auto Redial option, the phone automatically redials up to ten times when the call is not answered or someone is already on the phone.
Call Functions 25 Ending a Call When you want to end y our call, briefly press [ ] or close the phone. Redialing a Rece nt Number All incoming, outgoing an d missed calls are listed in the Call History menu. If the number or ca ller is listed i n your Contact List, the name associat ed with the number also di splays.
Call Functions 26 1. Open the p hone and p ress [ ] or < Accept > to answer the incoming call. If the Any Key option in t he Call Answer menu is activated, you can press any key to answer a ca ll except [ ] and < Reject > (see the Call Answer section in “Gene ral” on page 135 for more in formation).
Call Functions 27 Calling Back a Missed Call T o call back a misse d call number: 1. Open the Missed Calls li st (see above). 2. Scroll to the call you want to return, pre ss < Options > and select Call Back . Sending a Messag e to a Missed Call T o send a message to a missed call num ber: 1.

Options During a Call 29 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of features that you ca n use during a call. In Call Options During a call, press < Options > to access the fol lowing: Whisper Mode On/Off: Increases the microphone se nsitivity so that you do not have to spea k loudly to be hea rd by the other part y .
Options During a Call 30 Put a Call on Hold Y ou c an place th e current c all on hol d at any t ime. Y ou can also make another call while y ou have a call in progress if your network supports this service. T o put a call on hold : 1. While on a call , press < Options > and select Hold .
Options During a Call 31 Using the Speakerphone The speakerphon e lets people n ear the phone part icipate in a ca ll by broadcasting the vo ice or voices of th ose on the other end of the line and using the microphon e to capture the voices of everyone near the phone.
Options During a Call 32 3. T o add this person to the call, press < Options > and select Join . All call participants are listed on the screen. 4. T o continue adding people to the call, repeat ste ps 2 and 3 above. Y ou can also add incom ing callers by ans wering the call, pre ssing < Options >, and selec ting Join .
Options During a Call 33 helpful for entering a password or an accoun t number when y ou call an automated system, like a banking service. T o send DTMF tones duri ng a call: 1. Press < Options > and select Sen d DTMF . 2. Enter the numbers yo u want to send and pres s < Send > or [ ].
Access Codes 34 Access Codes There are severa l access codes used by your phone a nd its SIM card. These codes hel p protect the pho ne against unautho rized use. When requested to enter any of t he codes, ente r the code and press < Confir m >.
Access Codes 35 T o re -enable your PIN: 1. Enter the PUK and press < Confirm >. 2. Enter a new PIN of your choice and press < Confirm >. 3. When the Confirm PIN Code message dis plays, enter the sa me code again and press < Confirm >.
Entering T ext 36 Entering T ext This section ex plains the various text input modes for e ntering characte rs into your phone. I t also describes ho w to use the T9 pred ictive text entry system to reduce the n umber of k ey strokes re quired fo r entering text.
Entering T ext 37 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive te xt input mode b ased on a built-in d ictionary that al lows you to key in cha racters using a s ingle keystroke. Y our phone s elects the most likely word base d on your keystroke combinations. T o ente r a word in T9 mode: 1.
Entering T ext 38 Using Alphabet Mode Use the 0 to 9 keys to ente r your text. 1. Rogers Mall 48 Rogers Mall This menu selec tion (Menu 1) opens the Intern et Browser , a ccesses Rogers mobile Interne t and automatically accesses a Rogers Web page where you can shop for music, ring tunes , games, images and v ideo files; access messag ing functions; and view news and info rmation.
Media 49 Media The Media menu (Menu 2) enables you to: Manage your med ia files (audio, graph ics, videos, other files) Use the media pla yer and audio recorder T ake ph otos and video cl .

Media 56 Delete: Deletes the picture. Rename: Lets you specify a different name for the fi le. Edit: Opens the Image Ed itor . Press < Options > to acce ss the following editing and shari ng tools: • Save as: Lets you spe cify a unique name for the picture fi le.
Media 57 • Set as: Allows you to set the photo a s wallpaper for the Main Disp lay or Front Displ ay , or assign it to a Caller ID. • Print via: Allows you to print the photo using a USB or Bl uetooth connection. Media 60 Move: Lets you move the Selected file o r Multiple files to another folder on the phone or a m icroSD memory ca rd if one is inserted . Highlight the location you want t o move the file(s) to a nd press [ ].
Media 61 Properties: Display all the properties of the currently selected file. To o l s Provides access to the Camera, Media Pl ayer , Record Aud io, Calendar, Alarms, Calculator , World Clock, Stopwatch, T asks, Notes, Tip Calculator , Converter and Timer.
Media 62 2. Adjust the imag e by aiming the cam era at the subject a nd framing the photo you want to take on the screen. Press < Menu > to configure settings or apply effects. For more information, see “Camera Options in Captu re Mode” on page 6 2.
Media 63 Image Size: allo ws you to set the size (in pixels) of p ictures being taken in Single Shot mode. The options a re: 1280x960, 640x 480 and 320x240. For Multi Shot and Panoram a, the size is auto matically set to 3 20x240. For Mosaic Shot and Frame Shot the size is automatically set to 176x144.

Media 66 Recording Mode: Switches recording m ode between Normal and Picture Message ( limits the video clip file size to allow tran smission in a Picture Message .). Size: Indicates that the reso lution of the video clip is 176x144. White Balance: Allows you to set the white balan ce (color temperature of the surrounding l ight).

Camcorder Options After Rec ording a Video When you press < Options > af ter saving a video, the following options are available: Record Video: returns to the active camcorde r screen so you can take another video.

The calendar opens i n Month, week or da y view , depending on the Default View setting (s ee “Calendar Options” on pag e 72). In Month view , the current date is highlighted by a b ox around the numb er .
Media 73 Vie w: Opens the Day vi ew for the selected day . View Mode: Lets you change the view to one of the oth er options. Create: Use d to create a new event (Appointment, Anniversary , Holida y , Important or Private). Go to: Lets you directly select the current day or a s pecific date.
Media 74 2. Press < Options > and select Create . 3. Select the type of entry you want to make (Appointment, An niversary , Holiday , Important or Priv ate). Depending on the typ e of entry , some of the following optio ns are available: Titl e: Enter tex t describing the event .

Media 76 Missed Alarm Events While viewing the c alendar or a calendar entry , the Missed Alarm Event option shows all c alendar entries t hat you have mi ssed. If more tha n one entry is stored, pre ss the up or down navigation key to scroll to the previo us or next entry .

Media 84 T o change the amount to be converted , scroll to the amoun t field and enter the new value u sing the numeric keyp ad. T o perform a different conversion, press < Back> to return t o the Converter menu. T o change the preset currency conve rsion rates, press < Options > and select View Ra te .

Games and App s 88 Games and Apps Using the Games and Ap ps menu ( Menu 3 ) y ou can play games already stored on your phone, as well as down load games and oth er applications from your service pr ovider . Call History 93 Speed Dial List Using Speed dial (M enu 4.5), you can as sign up to eight ph one numbers from your Contact lis t that you use m ost frequently to t he number keys 2 to 9, and then dial the m whenever you want simply by pressin g and holding the associated number key .
Call History 94 Using Speed Dial From Idle mode, you can speed -dial the numbers as signed to numeric keys 2 to 9 by pressin g and holding the k ey until the phone begins dialing. Delete All This menu (Menu 4. 6) allows you to delete all records in one o r more call record types.
Visi on 95 Vi s i o n The Vision menu ( Menu 5 ) allows you to access numerous online servi ces, including Video/Radio, Mo bile TV , Rogers Music Player, Friends, MobileMail, Internet and More Services. Note: These services are provided and maintained by Rogers and some of them require paid subscription.
