4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first steps to operating you r phone. SIM Card Infor mation When you subscribe to cellular network services, you receive a plug-in Subscriber Identity Mod ule (SIM) card loaded with your subscription details, such as yo ur PIN, and available op tional services.
Getting Started 5 Inst alli ng and Remo ving t he SIM Car d Import ant!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the SIM, and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.
6 3. With the batter y in position in the pho ne, align the back cover on the phone (1) and slide gently upward (2) until the cover clicks into place. Note: The battery must be properly installed before charging the ba ttery or switching on the phone.
Getting Started 7 3. When the phone is complete ly charged ( ), unplug the charger from th e power outlet. 4. Remove the adap ter from the phone by gent ly pulling the connector ou t and replace the pl astic cover over the open jack. Import ant!: The battery charging function may stop if you are on a call while charging your battery.

It also displays the screen and the icon s that are displayed when the phone is in use. F eatures of Y our Phone Y our phone is lightweight, ea sy-to-use and offers many significant features.
10 Key s The following list c orrelates to the front view illustrations. 1. Earpiece : Used to listen to audio. 2. Volume keys/Menu Navigation : Used to adjust the ringer volume in standby mode, to mu te the incoming call ringe r , or to adjus t the voice volume d uring a call.

12 2. Headset jack/Adapter jack : Allows you to plug in the travel ada pter (power) and optional hea dset for safe, convenient, hands-fr ee conv ersations. Back View of Y our Phone 1. Camera lens : Used for taking pic tures. 2. Mirror : Displays your reflection when taking a picture of yourself.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 Note: The default Sound Profile is Normal. The profile is editable, and the displayed icons may vary according to the settings. T o edit Sound Profile settings, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Sound Profile. Appears when you receive a new multimed ia message.
14 Back Light A back light il luminates the display and the keypad when you press any key. It turns off when no keys are pressed within a given period of time, and/or di ms the light, depending on the settings in the Backlight Time menu.
Understanding Y our Phone 15 • T ools : allows you to access camera, record audio, alarms, calendar , recent calls, notes, calculator , tip calculator , converter , timer , stopwatch and world time. • Empty : (locations 7-#) allows you to program an additiona l set of frequently used features.
16 Right Soft K ey Some functions of the right soft key are as follows. • In the Idle screen, press the Menu (right) soft key to open the Menu screen. • When in a menu mode, the right soft key function is Back . Clear K ey The C key is used to erase or cl ear numbers, text, or symbols from the display and to access Calendar mode.
Call Functions 17 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a c all. It also includes the features and functional ity associated with ma king or answering a call . Making a Call In Idle mode, ente r the area co de and phone number , and press the key .
18 3. Continue to enter numbers, if desired. Tip: Y ou can create pauses longer than two seconds by entering multipl e pauses. Redialing t he Last Number All incoming, out going and missed cal ls are listed in the Recent Calls Menu. If the number or caller is listed in your Address Book, the associated name displays.
Call Functions 19 Note: Y ou can answer a call while using the Address Book or menu features. After ending the call, the phone returns to the function screen you were using. Recent Calls The phone stores the numbers of the c alls you’ve dialed, received, or missed in the Recent Calls menu.

Call Functions 21 Deleting a Missed Call T o delete a misse d call entr y: 1. Immediately after missing a call, press the Vie w soft k ey . 2. Press the Options soft key , then select Delete . 3. Select which items will be deleted: • Selected : This op tion allo ws you to de lete only selected call entries.
22 Press the Menu soft key , then select My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Recent Calls ➔ Data Volume . The following info rmation displays: • Last Sent Data : shows the siz e of the last d ata packet ( measured in KB - kilo bytes) sent by the phone sin ce the last ti me this cou nter was reset.
Call Functions 23 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, if you wa nt to adjust the earpiece v olume, use the Vol um e keys on the left side of the phone.
24 1. Place the call you wish to e nd on hold. 2. Press the Options soft key , then select End Held Call . 3. Press the Select soft key to end the ca ll on hold. 4. Press to end the last remaining call. In-Call Options During a call, pre ss the Mute soft key to mute the micro phone.
Call Functions 25 Muting or Sending Keypad T ones These options allo w you to turn the key tones o ff or on. If the Mute Keypad T one option is selected, it allows you to pres s keys without hearing key tones during a call.
26 • Swap : Places the cur rent call on hold and then activa tes the previous ca ll. T o end a call on hold: 1. Press the Options soft key , then select End Held Call to end the call on hold. Y o u can continue with the remaining call. 2. Press to end the cu rrent active call.
Menu Navigation 27 Section 4: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu navi gation for your phone. It also includes an overview of all t he available menus asso ciated with your phone. Some menu options are controll ed by the SIM provided by your service provider .

Messaging 29 Section 5: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive different ty pes of messages. It also includes t he features and func tionality associated with messaging.

34 3. Press to mark the folder containing messages you want to delete. T o delete al l of the unlock ed messages in a ll of the fol ders, mark All . 4. Press the Delete soft key . 5. At the “ Delete? ” pop-up, press the Ye s soft key or the key to delete.
Messaging 35 – Ads Allow ed : allows you to automatically r eject messages with a cat egor y of a dvert iseme nt. – Report Allowe d : when this option is enabled, your phone sends a notification back to the recipie nt indicating that your message has been received.
36 Signing In to Y our Mobile Email 1. Press Menu ➔ Mobile Email . 2. Select one of the e mail service providers and press the I Agree soft key to a ccept the terms of ser vice. 3. Enter your Screen Name and Password in the fields provided. 4. Press the Sign On soft key .
Messaging 37 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key , then select Messaging ➔ Used Space . 2. Use the Left and Right Navigati on keys to select a particular message type for review: T ext, Multimedia or Push Message. 3. Use the Up and Down Navigati on keys to select a particular folder for review .
38 Section 6: Understanding Y our Addr ess Book This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address Book.
Understanding Y our Address Book 39 • Vi ew : provides you with details about that contact e ntry. Press the Back soft key to return to the Addre ss Book listing. • Send Message : allows you to send a text me ssage or a multimedia message to the selected entry .

Understanding Y our Address Book 41 Y ou can set up Speed Dia l entrie s two ways: by going to a previously entered contact in the Address Book and pressing the Options soft key to assign that co ntact a Speed Dial number or by going to Address Book ➔ Speed Dial List and assigning a Contacts entry or FDN List entr y to a Spee d Dial number .
42 4. Highlight your contac t selection and press Options ➔ Select or press . Y our Speed Dial number is changed. Deleting Speed Dial Entries 1. From the Idle Screen, pres s Menu soft key , the n select Address Book ➔ Speed Dial List . 2. Highlight the key you wish to clear and press the Options soft key .
Understanding Y our Address Book 43 Copy to FDN Co ntacts 1. Highlight an entry in the Co ntact List, and select the Options soft key . 2. Press Vie w ➔ Copy to ➔ FDN . 3. Y ou must enter your PIN2 password. This number is provided to you by your Se rvice Provide r .
44 2. T o copy an entry to the SIM card, highlight an entry , then press the Check ( ) key . A check mark appears i n the box to the left of the Contact name. Repea t this step for all Entries to be copied to the SIM. 3. After checking all ent ries to be copied, press the Copy soft key .
Understanding Y our Address Book 45 3. Press the Options soft key , then select Delete ➔ All . Y ou can remove the che ck ma rk by pressing the key again. Selec ting All places a che ckmark adjacent to every entry in the list. 4. Press the Delete soft key to delete the chec k Phone entries.

Changing Y our Settings 47 Section 7: Changing Y our Settings This section includes tips on how to use some of u se some of your phone’ s features, as well as how to cha nge and customize the display settings, c all handling, security settings, and other settings associated with your phone.
48 – Vo ice Call Ringt one : allows you to select a r ingtone from your My Stu ff (Phone) folder which co ntains not only the default phone ringtones, but also any new ringtones which have been down loaded from the Internet and your recorded audio clips.
Changing Y our Settings 49 Note: The Silent profile can also be activated by pressing the key or by reducing the volume to 0. An on screen message notifies you that the Silent profile is now active. T o deactivate this profile, press the key again or increase the volume using the volume key .
50 – Brightness : allows you to adjust th e display brightness for the LCD to see it better in diffe rent lighting conditions. Pre ss the Left or Right Navigation keys to adjust the brightn ess. Press the Save soft key or the key to make you r selection.
Changing Y our Settings 51 • AM / PM : allows you to select AM or PM. Press the Save soft key or the key to save the new sel ection. • Date allows you to e nter the current date usin g your keypad. Press the Left or Right Naviga tion ke y to na vigate between the month, day , or year fi elds.
52 • Security : enables you to restrict the use o f your phone by the others and to restrict the types of calls. V arious codes and passwords are used to protect the features of your phone. The following options are available. Use the Up or Down Navigation key to scroll to and set options.
Changing Y our Settings 53 – Set FDN Mode : Fixed Dial Number (FDN) mod e, if supported by yo ur SIM card, allows you to restrict the outgoing calls to a limit ed set of phone numbers. The following optio ns are available: • Off : you can call any number .
54 Calls This menu allows you to change the actions tak en by the phone when dialing an d receiving calls. 䊳 In Idle mode, pres s Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Calls .

Connecting to a Bluetooth Device From the Device list : 1. Highlight the device and press the Select soft key or the key .

58 Section 8: My Stuff The My Stuff menu includes submenus providing access the following functions : Applications, Audio, Games, Picture s, T ools, Other Fil es and Used Space. Applications The Applications menu option allows you to shop applications using the WAP browser .
My Stuff 59 • Caller Rington e : Allows you to assign a ringto ne to someone in your Cont act Lis t. • Alarm T one : allows you to assign the tone to an al arm. Answ er T ones Y ou can shop and download Answer T ones, manage your Answer T ones, and access Help files.
60 5. Press the Options soft key to display the following options: • Record : all ows you to save the c urrent me mo and begi n another session. • Go to Recorded Audio : allows yo u to listen to yo ur audio clips. • Se nd v ia Message : allows you to send your voice clip via multimedia message.
My Stuff 61 Pictures The Pictures menu option allows you to Shop Graphics using the WAP browser . Y ou can do wnload new graphics, save them and view them in your Downloaded Graphics folder . Select T ake Photo i n your Pictures menu to go into camera mode to take a new phot o and view your phot os in My Photos folder .
62 2. Highlight a photo and before viewing the selected photo , press the Options soft key to see th e following options: • Vie w : allows yo u to view your selected photo .
My Stuff 63 2. If desired, be fore taki ng the photo, press the Menu soft key to access ca mera option ic ons. F or more information, refer to “Camera Options” on page 63. 3. Adjust the image by aiming th e camera at the subject, using the phone display as a viewfinder .
64 Effects : allows you to choose a custom colo r tone for your photo. Choose from the following: • No Effects : auto matically adjust the p icture for the best quality available. • Black & White : remove all color and di splay the picture as greyscal e/black and wh ite.
My Stuff 65 Rec o r d Aud i o Record Audio allows yo u to record voice me mos. It also allows you to send your audio c lip to other pe ople as an attachment of an MMS message. Recording time is limited to free memory space available. For more informat ion, refer to “Record Audio” on page 59.

68 – Before : allows you to se t the amount of tim e (day , week) before your appointment you wish the alarm to sound. – Alarm Time : allows you to enter a time for the alarm to begin notifying you of the occasion. – AM/PM : allows yo u to select AM or PM .

Tip Cal culato r With this fea ture, you can use th e phone to calculate the amount of money left as a ti p based on parameters such as: total bill amount, tip percentage, and numbe r of members in your party .

MEdia Mall 75 Section 10: MEdia Mall The MEdia Mall provides access to Shop T ones, Shop Games, Shop Graphics, Shop Multimedia , Shop Applications and the MEdia Home site using the built-in browser . T o access th e MEdia Mall optio ns from the Idle screen, selec t Menu ➔ MEdia Mall .

The content of the start- up homepage contains the following selections: • Search field : allows you enter a text string into the field an d then search the MEdia Net databa se for matches.
