7 G et started First st eps to operati ng your phone SIM card information When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscripti on details, such as your PIN, and available optional services.
8 Get started Low battery indicator When the ba ttery is low: • a warning tone sounds, • the battery low message displays, and • the empty battery icon blinks. If the battery lev el becomes too low , the phone automatically turns off . R echarge your battery .

Call functions 27 Answering a call When you receive an incoming call, the phone rings and displays the incoming call image. Press [ ] or < Accept > to answ er the call. Tips for answering a call • When Any key answer in the Phone setting s menu is active, you can press any key to answer a call, except fo r [ ] and < Reject >.
28 Call functions Placing a call on hold/Retrieving Press < Hold > or < Unhold > to place the call on hold or retrieve the ca ll. Making a second call Y ou can make another call if your network supports it. 1. Press < Hold > to put the call on hold.
Call functions 29 Press < Options > and select Switch to headset or Switch t o phone . Switching off the microphone (Mute mode) Y ou can temporarily switch off your phone’s microphone so that the person on the ph one c annot hear you. Press < Options > and select Mute or Unmute .
30 Call functions Using SIM services The Special menu is available if you use a SIM card i n your phone. A SIM card provides services suc h as news, weather , sports, entertainment, and location services. For details, see your SIM card instructions or contact your service provider .
Call functions 31 Using the video call feature In a 3G (UMTS) service area, your phone can make or receive a video call which allows you to see another person on the screen during a conversation. The other person’s phone must suppor t th e video call feature.

Current contac ts (Menu 2. 3.4) This menu displays all of contacts you have dialled, received, or m iss ed. Data counter (Menu 2.3.5) Use this menu to view the amount of sent or received data and the t otal length of y our data calls.

50 Menu functions • Save contact to : extract URLs , e-mail addresse s, or phone numbers from the message and save them in Phonebook. • Save : save the message to the phone’ s memory . • Delete : delete the message. E-mail inbox (Menu 5.3) This folder stores e-mails that you have received.

Voice mail (Menu 5.6) Use this menu to access your voice mailbox, if your network supports this service.

54 Menu functions Delivery time : set a time dela y before messages are sent. Delivery report : set the netw ork to inform you when your me ssage has been delivered. Read report : determine whether or not the phone sends a read -report request to the m essage’s recipients.

76 Menu functions Call connect tone : cause t he phone to beep when it connected to the system. Call end tone : cause the phone to beep whe n the other person ends a call. Power on : cause the phone to beep when you turn on the phone. Sound effect : cause the phone to beep when you access the menu.

86 Solve prob lems Privacy lock (Menu 9.7.6) Use this menu to lock your messages and media contents. 1. Press to check the item(s) to lock. 2. Press < Save > to lock the m arked items. 3. Enter the phone password and press < Confirm >. T o access a locked item , you need to enter the phone password.
Solve problem s 87 “PUK lock ” • The PIN cod e was entered i ncorrectly three times in succession, and the phone is now blocked. Enter the PUK supplied by your service provider . “No Service,” “Ne twork Failure,” or “ No t Done” displays • The network connection has been lost.
88 Health and safety information The audio quality of the call is poor • Check the signal strength indicator on the display ( ). The number of bars indicates the signal strength from strong ( ) to we a k ( ). • T ry mo ving the phone slightly or moving closer to a window if you are in a building.
