Y our Phone 6 Display Display Layout The display has three a reas: Area Description Icons Displays various icons. See page 7. T ext and graphics area Displays messages, in struc tions and any information that you enter , such as the number you are dialing.
Y our Phone 7 Icons Backlight The backlight illumina tes the display and the k eypad. When you press Icon Description Shows the received sign al strength. The greater the number of bars, th e strong er the si gnal. Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when you are out of your service a rea.
Y our Phone 8 any key or open the phone, the backlight turns on and remains on for a given period of time, depending on your Back Light settings. When no keys are pressed, th e dis pl ay dims and turns off after a specified length of time to conser ve your battery power .
Getting S tarted 9 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellula r network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services available and so on.

Getting S tarted 11 4. Replace the batt ery so that the tabs on the end align with the slots at the bottom of the phone. 5. Press the battery down until it c licks into place. Make sure that the battery is properly installe d before switching the power on.
Getting S tarted 12 2. Plug the adapt er into a sta ndard AC wall outle t. 3. When charging is finished, unplug the adapter from the power outlet and disconnect it from the phone by pressing the buttons on both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out.
Getting S tarted 13 Check the battery indicator icon peri odically and recharge as needed to make sure the phone has enough batter y power when needed. Switching the Phone On or Off 1. Open the phone. 2. Press and hold the key until the phone switches on.
Call Functions 14 Call Functions Making a Call When the idle screen displays , enter the area code and phone number , th en press the key . Note: When you activate the Auto Redial option in the Extra Settings menu ( Men u 9.2.4 ), the phone automatically redials up to te n times when the person does not answer the call or is already on t he phone.
Call Functions 15 Redialling the Last Number The phone stores the nu mbers you have dialed, received or missed if the caller is identified. See “Recent Calls” on page 43 for further details. T o recall any of these numb ers: 1. If you have t yped character s on the display , press either the Exit soft key or t he key to return to Idle m ode.
Call Functions 16 Adjusting the V olume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiec e volume, use th e Volume keys on the left side of the phone. ♦ Press the key to in crease the volu me level and th e key to decrease the leve l. ♦ In Idle mode, you can also adju st the Ring Volume using these keys.
Call Functions 17 Viewing Missed Calls When you are unable to answer a call for any reas on, you can find out who called you so that you can call the person back. The number of calls you missed displays on the idle screen immediatel y after a c all is missed .

Call Functions 20 In some functions, you may be asked for a password or PIN. Enter the code and press the OK soft key . Note: When you access a list of options, your ph one highlights the current option.
Options During a Call 21 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of c ontrol functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can make another call while you have a call in progress if your network supports this service.

Enter the name that you wish to find. If you enter the first few letters of the name, the Contact List entr ies are listed, starting with the first entry match ing your input.

Making a Multi-party Call A multi-party call is a network ser vice that allows up to six people to take part sim ultaneously in a multi-party or conference call.

Entering T ext 27 Entering T ext When using your pho ne, you will ofte n need to enter tex t, such as when storing a name in the P hone Book, creati ng your personal greeting or scheduling events on you r calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.

Entering T ext 29 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive text input mode that allows you to key in any character using a single keystroke. This text input mode is based on a built-in dictionary . Y our phone will select the most likely word based on your keystroke combinations.
Entering T ext 30 4. Press the OK soft ke y . The word is add ed to the T9 dict ionary and becomes the firs t word for the associated key presses. ♦ T o enter periods, hyphens or apostrophes, press the 1 key . T9 mode applies grammar rules to en sure that the correct punctuation is used.

Recent Calls 44 Calls Received This menu lets you view the calls you received. The Calls Received menu works the sa me as the All C alls menu. Delete All This menu allows you to delete all of the records in each call record type. Y ou can also dele te all of your call records at one time.
Recent Calls 45 T o reset a timer , highlight the timer and press the Reset soft key . Y ou must enter the phone passwo rd and then press the OK soft key . Note: The password is preset to “00000000” at the factor y . T o change this password, see “Change Password” on page 108.

Rogers Mall 76 Rogers Mall The Rogers mall menu provides a convenient place to download all your ring tunes, games, graphics , and more. In addition, you can view photos that you have put online and surf the Internet. Get Ring tunes This menu allows you to download ring tunes from your service provider .
Rogers Mall 77 Get My Pix - Online Album This menu allows you to view pictures on your phone and post them online. Follow the online instructio ns shown on your display screen.
Games 78 Games Y ou can download and play game s already stored on your phone. Shop Games Y ou can download more games from the network. A charge may apply . Once you have downloaded games, they are add ed to your phone’ s list of games. Note: Game services may not be available depending upon your service provider .
Games 79 Viewing Game Information 1. In Idle mode, select Menu 6 for Games . 2. Scroll to the game you want and press the Options soft key . 3. Scroll to Properties and press the key . The display shows i nformation about the game, such as the file size, application versi on and its vendor .
Applications 80 Applications Applications enable you to: ♦ set an alarm so that the phone rings at a specific ti me, such as to remind you of an appointment. ♦ view the calendar and organize your schedule. ♦ use the phone as a calculator for basic mathematical equations or currency exchange operations.

Multimedia 88 Multimedia The Multimedia menu is used to manage your coll ection of audio clips, graphics, downloaded video, and other files. Audio In this menu ( Menu 8.1 ), you can select a new ringtone from your collection of pre-provided and downl oaded ring tunes.
Multimedia 89 ♦ Play : plays the audio file. ♦ Send via MMS: allows you to send the audio file as part of a multimedia message. For more information, see “Multimedia Message” on page 56. ♦ Set as : allows you to use the audio clip as either a Ringtone or a Caller ID .
Multimedia 90 Note: If you want to save the clip immedi ately after recording, press the Down navigation key to stop re cording and save the clip. Reviewing a Recorded Audio 1. In Idle mode, press the Me nu soft key to access th e me nu. 2. Select Multimedia and press the Select soft key or the key .

Multimedia 92 Graphics In this menu ( Menu 8.2 ), you can download new im age s, or select a new wallpaper image from y our collection of pre- provided and downloaded pictures. In addition, you can send the images to other phones. T o select an im age as wallpaper: 1.
Multimedia 93 ♦ Delete : deletes e ither the sele cted image or a ll the images. ♦ Rename : allows you to change the name of the image. ♦ Move to Favorite Graphics/Downloaded Graphics : moves the image to the displayed folder . ♦ Protection : allows to you protect the image from accidental deletion.
Settings 94 Settings Many different features of your phone can be cu stomized to suit your preference s. Al l of the se features are acc es se d in the Settings menu. Ti me & D at e Use this menu ( Menu 9.1 ) to configure the settings for the time and date display .
