Getting Started 5 T ext Conv entions This manual prov ides condensed information about ho w to use your phone. 6 2. Lift and remove the batter y . 3. Carefully slide t he SIM card into the SIM card sock et until the card lock s into place (3). Make sure that the card’ s gold contacts face into the phone and that the upper -left angled corner o f the car d is positio ned as shown.
Getting Started 7 5. Reinstall the battery cover by sl iding it back onto the phone until you hea r it securely c l ick. Make sure the battery is properly install ed before switc hing on the phone.
8 3. Push the microS D card with yo ur thumb or finger a second time to ejec t it from the slot. 4. Rotate the memo ry card co ver back to the closed posit ion and press it lightly . Charging a Ba tter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li -ion battery .

12 Ke y s The following list correla tes to the illustrations. 1. Speaker allows you to hear the other caller and the different ring tones or so unds offered by your phone. 2. OK (Select) key allows you to accept the choices offered when navigating through a menu.

It also provides quick access to you r phonebook. 14. Navigation key scrolls through th e phone’ s menu options and acts as a shortcut key from standby mode.
14 2. microSD Card Slot lets you use a micr oSD card to expand the memory of your phone. 3. Camer a lens as part of the built-i n camera, you can take pictures and shoot videos. 4. Front Display shows can be configured to display either a Wallpaper (Clock or My image) or a Greeting message.
Understanding Y our Phone 15 Miss ed Me ssage s T a b When you receive new messages , ic ons display in two locations, on the phone’ s screen, Missed Me ssages tab, and in the icon bar at th e top of the screen.

Understanding Y our Phone 17 Bac klight A backlight illuminates th e intern al display and the keypad. When you press any key , the backli ght comes on. It goes of f when no keys are pressed within a given period of time, depending on the setting within the Backlight ti me menu.
18 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to mak e or answer a call. It al so explains the features and fun ction ality associa ted with making or answering a call . Fo r more inform ation on ringtones see “Sound profiles” on page 99.
Call Functions 19 3. Use the Up and Down Navig ation keys to scroll through the numbers and highlight the nu mber you want. With the entry highlighted fr om the Call history screen press Options (LSK) to display the follo wing options: •C a l l : Plac es a call back to th e number .

Call Functions 21 Note: At any time while you are in Call Records, you may use the Left or Right Navigation keys to scroll between All calls , Missed calls , Dialed calls , Answered calls, and V oice mail . Note: Recent Calls records only calls that occur while the phone is turned on.
22 Tip : Y ou can press at an y time to exit the Missed Call feature. Dial ed cal ls This menu lets you view the most recent calls yo u dialed. The name and numb er , if already stored to Contacts, displays with the number of occurrences for each number .
Call Functions 23 Selecting Options T o view the variou s function s an d options available, you must press an av ailable softkey and sel ect an option by: 1. Press the appropri ate soft ke y . 2. Press Select (LSK) to sele ct the functi on or the hig hlighted option.
24 Switching off the Micr ophone (Mute) Y ou can temporarily s witch your phone’ s microphone off, so that the other person cannot hear you. Example: Y ou wish to say something to a person i n the room but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.
Call Functions 25 T o switch between the two calls: 1. Press the Options (LSK) ➔ Swap . The current active call is placed on hold and the call on hold is reacti vated so you can continue talking. 2. Press to finish and e nd each call normal ly . Using the Speakerpho ne While on a call, yo u can use yo u r Speakerphone by following these steps: 1.
26 T o answer a new call whil e you have a call in progress: 1. Press either Acce pt (LSK) or to an swer the incoming call. The fi rst call is automa tically plac ed on hold. 2. Press Options (LSK) ➔ Swap to switc h between the two calls. 3. Press Options (LSK) ➔ End ➔ Held ca ll opti on to end a call on hold.
Call Functions 27 4. T o return to the multi-party call, press Options (LSK) ➔ Join . Each of the multi-party call participants can now hear each other again. Dropping One Par ticipant 1. While in a multi-pa rty call, press Options (LSK) ➔ End ➔ Select participant .
28 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the menu navig ation for your phone. Menu Na vigation Y o u can tailor the phone’ s range of functions to your needs using menus and sub-menus. Menus a nd sub-menus can be accessed by scrolling using the Navigatio n keys or by using shortcu ts.
Menu Navigation 29 Using Sh or tcuts The menu items, such as sub-menu s, and options, are numbered and can be accessed quickly by using their shortcut numbers. Within the main me nu’ s Grid view, you can access any one of menus or sub-menus by pressing the number keys (1 to 0) corresponding to their lo cation on the screen.
30 Section 5: Entering T e xt This section outlin es how to select the desired text input mode when entering characters. This sect ion also describes how to use the T9 predict ive text syst em to reduce the number of key st rokes associated wit h enterin g text.

The text input mode indicator displays the new selection in the lower right corner of your display . The following opti ons are avai lable: • ABC • T9 (English) • Numeric • Symbol 3.
32 Adding a new w ord into the T9 dictionar y 1. After pressing the keys corresponding to the word you want to add, pr ess to display alternative words. If the last alternative word is not recognized by the dictionary , the screen displays Spell on the botto m left line.
Entering T e xt 33 Using ABC Mode T o enter text in ABC mode : 1. Press (RSK) to change the text input mode. 2. Scroll to the ABC mode and press Select (LSK) or . Use the 2 to 9 keys to enter your text. 3. Press the key la beled with t he letter you want.
34 Using the Numeric Mode The Numeric mode enables you to en ter numbers into a text messag e. T o enter te xt in Num eric mod e: 1. Press (RSK) to change the text input mode. 2. Scroll to the Numeric mode and press Select (LSK) or . Use the 2 to 9 keys to enter your text.

T ext Messages Short Message Serv ice (SMS) allo ws you to send and rec eive short text messages to and fr om other mobile phones.

38 Picture Messa ges This menu allows y ou to use the Multimedia Message Ser vice (MMS) to create a Pi cture messages. Picture Messaging is a messaging service tha t provides deliver y of personal picture me ssages from pho ne to phone or from phone to email.
Messaging 39 Note: Y our recipient must reside in Contacts before you can add the recipient to this message. 4. Highlight the text fi eld and create your message. 5. Press the Down Navigation key , then use the Lef t and Right Navigation keys t o add one of the foll owing: • Record sound : record a voi ce note to at tach to this message.
40 • Audio Po stcard When you en ter the Me ssage inbox, the list of messages displays with the sender’ s phone numbers, or names , if available in your Contacts.

Messaging 43 V o icemail This menu helps you acce ss y our voice mailbox, if provided by your network. Y ou can also se tup Voicemail from this menu. 1. From Home screen, p ress Menu (LSK) ➔ Me ssaging ➔ V oicemail . 2. At the prompt, press Ye s (LSK), if you want to set up your Voicemail, or No (RSK) to reject VVM.
44 Email 䊳 From Home screen, press Menu (LSK) ➔ Mess aging ➔ E-mail to view rece ived emai l messages. The first time you se lect Email, a Welcome messa ge displays. Fo llow the onscreen prompts. Note: Confirm your email settings if you experience any issues with sending or receiving email.

Using the Contacts List Stori ng a Nu mber in the Phon e’s Memo r y The default storage loca tion fo r saving phone num bers to your contacts is your phone’ s built-i n memor y .
People 53 •E m a i l : allows you to enter the email address fo r the contact. •G r o u p : allows you to assi gn this contact to a group. •P i c t u r e I D : allo ws you to add a Picture ID assigned t o the contact.
54 1. From Home screen, press Menu (LSK) ➔ People ➔ Contacts . 2. Enter the f irst few le tters of t he name in th e text box. The Contacts en tries are listed, star ting with the f irst entry matching your input. – or – Press the Up or Down Navigation key until the entry you want is highlighted.

56 6. Press More (RSK) once you are signed in to refres h the screen, change settings, minimize the screen, exit, or view help. 7. Press twice to exi t the applica tion. – or – Press ➔ Ye s (LSK) when " Do you want to exit? " displays to exit this application.
People 57 Editing a Caller Group 1. From Home screen, p ress Menu (LSK) ➔ P eople ➔ Groups . 2. Scroll through the group list and highlight the group you want. 3. Press Options (LSK) ➔ Rena me group . Modify the text in the Nam e text box. – or – Press Options (LSK) ➔ Delete group .
58 4. Highlight a contac t entry numb er from the list an d press Select (LSK) or . Y ou receive a Spe ed dial assign ed confirma tion and the Speed dial menu is displayed with the number assigned to th e number key highlighted. 5. Press to return to the Home screen.
People 59 Delete all Impo rtan t!: Once contact entries are deleted, they cannot be recovered. This option a llows you to de lete al l your co ntacts fr om the Contacts. Deleting all of the Contac t Entries Perform the follo wing procedure to delete all your entries from your phone’ s memory .

Ser vice Dialing Numbers Y o u can view the list of Ser vice Di aling Numbers (SDN) assigned by your service provider . 64 Browser Settings V arious setting s are available wh en you are using t he web2go browser to navigate the wireless web. Choos e from the following options: Clear cache Y ou can clea r the informati on stor ed in the cache, which is the phone’ s temporar y memory and stores the most recently accessed Web pages.

66 Google Maps Google Maps al low you to track your current location, view real-time traffic issues, and view detailed destin ation directions. There is also a se arch tool included to help you loca te places of interest or a specific address. Y o u can view loca tions on a vector or aerial m ap, or you can vi ew locatio ns at the street level.

68 Camera Use your phone’ s Camera to take photos of people or events while on th e move. Addi tional ly , you can send these photos to other people in a Picture Mes sag ing message or set a wallpaper or picture ID image. 72 4. Press to exit and re turn to Home screen. Playlists There are te n available pl aylists. Y ou can add musi c files to any one of these play lists, and you can customize the playlists by renaming them. Y ou cannot, howe ver , add a new playlist or delete a playli st.

Organizer The Organizer allows you to set al arms , schedule appointments, view th e calenda r , create ta sks, perform simple math calculations, c heck wo rld time, perform unit conversions, set a timer , and use a stopwatch.

Organizer 83 V o ice R ecognition This feature is u sed to activ ate a wide varie ty of functions on your phone. Y ou can use your phon e’ s built-in automatic speech recogniti on (ASR) s oftware to dial a ph one numb er in your Contacts or to la unch phone functions.
84 Tips for Us ing V oice Dial Voice recognition work s best in quieter environments. When saying a name, speak at a norm al speed and say the name clearly . There is no need to pause betwee n the first name and last name. Making a Voice Call 1. From Home screen, press Menu (LSK) ➔ Orga nizer ➔ V oice recognition .
