Using the Home screen When you turn on your devic e, th e Home scr een, t he device’ s idle screen, appear s. Y ou can also access this screen by pressing from any progr am.

47 3 Synchronisation Using Microsoft ® ActiveS ync ® , you can synchronise data on your desktop computer with the data on your de vice. Sy nchronisation compares the da ta on your de vice with your deskt op comput er and upda tes bo th your devi ce and computer w ith the latest data.
Synchronis ation 48 Installing ActiveSync Before beginning synchronisation, you m ust install Act iveSyn c on yo ur de skt op co mputer usin g the s uppl ied CD-ROM . Y ou can also downlo ad the latest ve rsion of ActiveS y nc from the Microsoft web site.
Synchronis ation 49 Custom ising conn ection settings T o establish a connection betw een your computer and the device, you must enable the connections you want to use in the ActiveS ync progr am. By default, all connections are enabled. 1. From the ActiveS ync window on your computer , select File → Connect ion Settin gs.

55 4 Call functions This chapter explains all of the call functions provided by your de vi ce . Turning the phone functions on and off Y ou can choose to turn off the phone functions and just use the PDA functions at any time and then turn it back on when you w ant.
Call functions 56 Using the Dialling screen When you press , the Dialling screen opens. Y ou can view the most recent calls y ou hav e dialled, receiv ed, and missed on the screen.

Call functions 59 Making an international call 1. Press and hold until the + sign appear s. The + replaces the international access code. 2. Enter the full phone number y ou w ant to dial. It includes the country code, the area code (without the lea ding zero), and the p hone number .
Call functions 60 Answe ring or i gnoring a call When a call comes in and the device rings or vibr ates, depending on the ringer setting: • Press the Answ er soft key or to answer the call. • Press the Ignore soft key or press to reject the call. Y ou can also pre ss and hold or to reject the call.
Call functions 61 Using In-call opt ions During a call, you can access v arious options by pressing the Menu soft key . F or a voice call, the fol lowing options are a v ailable: • Hold : places the current call on hold. • Whisper mode On/Off : turn on or off Whisper m ode.
Call functions 62 • Send DTMF : send D TMF (D ual tone multi-frequency) tones of a spec ific number as a g roup. This option i s helpful for entering a p assw ord or an account num ber when you call an automated system, lik e a banking service. • Mute keys : turn the key tone s off or on.
Call functions 63 Call-related features Checking your voicemail The first speed dial loca tion is assigned to y our voicem ail box by default. When you inse rt your SIM card into the device, it automatically detects and sets as default the voicemail centre number of yo ur mobi le serv ice p rovid er .

Call functions 66 Customising your phone functions Y ou can p ersonalise the settings of the phone functions, the services you ha ve, and the network to which you ha ve connected. Accessing the Phone setting options 1. On the Home scre en, press the Start soft key .
Call functions 67 Reset Call Cost : allows you to reset the cost counter . Edit Cost Limit : allows you to enter the maxim um cost that you a uthorise for yo ur calls. Calls can b e made a s long as the preset max cost is not ex ceede d. Price per unit : allows you to set the cost of one unit.
Call functions 68 Dialling cod e : Y ou can enter an area code. The code will be automatically a dded before a phone num ber when dialling. • Caller ID : When you place a call, your phone number can be displa yed to or hidden from the person to whom you ar e calling.
Call functions 69 Select a Networ k : Select a network from the av ailable networks. Preferred Networks : Set up a list of your preferred networks. Y ou can set priority of the networks or add networks manually by selecting them from the prese t network list or entering their se rvice ID codes.
Call functions 70 All calls : No calls can be received. When roaming : Calls cannot be receiv ed when you are using your device outside of y our home service area. Off : Call barring is deactiv a ted; all cal ls can be receiv ed normally . F or outgoing call barring, the fol lowing op tions are avail a bl e: All calls : No calls can be made.

The following opti ons are av ailable: • Sending Options : allows yo u to change the settings for sending MMS messages.

Home ne twork : Set how to retrieve new messages from the server w hile in your hom e network.
