30 Section 2 Standby Mode Standby mode is the state of the phone once it has found serv ice and i s idle. The phone goes into stan dby mode: • After you power the phone on. • When you press after a call or from within a menu. In standby mo de, you will see the time, day , and date as well as all phon e status icons.

Using V oice Dial Use the V oice Dial command to dial any number stored in your Contacts li st by sa ying the name of the cont act (Name Dialing).

70 Section 5 T ext Entry Modes Y ou can compose text messages using alphabetical characters, symbols, and n umbers. Each method of character entry (symbol, nu mber , and so on) is c alled a text entr y mode. There ar e four text entry modes, as indicated: • Alpha —Alphabe tical text entry mode.
