28 Section 2 Remove the SIM card Note: Press and hold to turn off the phone (if on). 1. Remove th e batte ry . 2. Slide the SI M card to the left, then lift to remove. Important: Please handle the SIM card on its sides. Avoid touching the circuits as th is may cause dama ge to the SIM.

34 Section 3 Making a Call There ar e several ways to make calls on your new i830. Y ou can use speed dial, voice dial, call history , or simply enter the desired number and tap . Note: Keys, such as , are referred to as “soft” keys because they are not part of the hardware.

The r oaming icon appears on when in roaming is active, and extra char ges may apply when making or r eceiving a call.

46 Section 3 Tips for Adapting Digit Dial • Adapt digits in a quiet place. • Make sure you wait for the beep befo re starting to speak. • Speak clearly , and say each digit distinctly . • If you make a mistake while recording a sequence of digits, or if there is an unexpected noise th at spoils the recording, re- record that sequence.

Section 4: Menu Navigation 51 Menu T ypes Section 4 The New menu options allow you to configure what is displayed when you tap on the New menu located in the bottom left corner of the scree n. Both the Start and New menus can be modified to display some or all of their options.
Section 4 52 Launcher The Launcher application is a task and file launcher with great additional feat ures. Program s, games, utilities, and files can all be launched from custo mized pop-up windows usi ng your stylus or function keys located on your i830.

78 Section 7 T ypes of Messages The i830 is capable of sending E-mail and text m essages. S e n d t e x t m e s s a g e s b y s i m p l y entering the phone number of the recipient when cr eating a new message. Messaging All incoming messages arrive and ar e stored in the Inbox until deleted.
