Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to star t using y our SCH-R630 phone by activating your service, setting up your Voicemail, or getti ng an understanding of how this manual is put together .
5 Use the T rav el Adapter The travel adapter in clu ded with your ph one is a co nvenient, light-weight charger that rapidl y charges your phone from any 120/220 V AC outlet. 1. Plug the T ravel Adapter into a standard 120 VA C or 220 V AC wall outlet.

Call Functions 20 Section 3: Call Functions This section provides procedur es for making and answering calls. This section al so describes features, such as call logs and call timers, that help you make calls and manage your call time.
21 T hree-w ay Calling Call two other numbers and conne ct them to your call using three-way calling. 1. In Standby mode, tap Dialer . The Dialer s creen appears in the disp lay . 2. Enter the number for the first party in your call, then press . 3. When connected, ask the other pa rty to remain on the line.
Call Functions 22 2-T ouch Dialing Use 2-touch dialing to speed dial Contacts from 10 through 99. 1. In Standby mode, tap Dial er . The Dialer screen a ppears in the display . 2. T a p the number key representi ng the first digit of the desired Contact’ s sp eed dial number .
23 V oic e Commands The voice recogniti on capabilities of yo ur R630 are exceptional due to advanced, spe aker -independent te chnology . This means you do not need to “t rain” your phon e to understand your voice. Y ou can use your voice in a natural manner to dial nu mbers.
Call Functions 24 If the rec ognize d name has multiple numbe rs stored for it (that is, Mobile 1, Mobile 2, Home, and so on), V oice Commands displays the possibl e choices an d prompts you with “ Which location? ” 5.

Call Functions 26 Call W aiting If you’re on a call, your phone beeps when another call is incoming. Contact your Wirele ss Carrier for availability . 1. Press to connect and ask th e call ing party to remain on the line . 2. Press and the second caller is placed on hold and you’re returned to the orig inal caller .

Understanding Y our Contacts 32 Section 4: Understanding Y our Contacts This section details how you can ma nage your d aily contacts by storing their names and numbers in your Contacts list. Y ou can have your Contacts en tries sorted by name. Conta cts Up to 500 entries can be stored in Contacts.
33 Adding a New Contacts Entr y Y ou can use either of two me thods to add an ent irely new entr y to Contacts. Dial Method 1. From a Home screen, tap Dialer . 2. Enter the number you wish to add to your C ontact List . 3. Ta p Save . The following options pop-up in the display: • Add New Contact — Lets you crea te a ne w Contact s entr y .

Understanding Y our Contacts 40 • T o speed dial the Contacts entry assigned to Location 235, tap , tap , then press and hold (3-touch dialing). Y ou can assign one or more Spee d Dial numbers to a Contacts entr y during new entr y crea tion or by ed iting an existing entr y .
41 Contacts Groups Contact Group s let you easily send messages to multiple, selected Contacts. Y ou can also use Groups to find Contact entries and to add/remove Cont acts names in a Group or to create or rename a Group.

43 5. T o confirm erasure of the highlighted Group, tap Ye s . T o retain the Group, tap No . Deleting a Contacts Entr y 1. In Standby Mode, tap Contacts ➔ . The Erase screen appears in the display . 2. Scroll to and ta p the Contact yo u want to erase.
Messaging 44 Section 5: Messaging This section explains ho w to send or receive different types of messages. This section also describes the features and functio nality a ssociat ed with messa ging. Note: Y o u can only enter message text using the QWERTY keypad.

47 Send Picture Messages in St andby Mode Send Picture messages to recipien ts with a compatible phone or other device, and acco mpany the Pi cture message with a v oice memo, ring tone, or downloaded melo dy . Tip : Y ou can send a Picture message to up to ten recipients.

T a p the desired video, then tap ➔ Add . – or – Activate the p hone’ s camcorder and record a ne w video clip, by tapping ➔ Record V ideo .
51 4. Using the display as a viewfinde r , whe n the ima ge that y ou wish to send appears in the di spl ay , press the Camera key ( ) to r ecord a video. The time co unter at th e botto m of the Camcorder vi ewfinder screen indica tes recording time in seco nds.
Messaging 52 • Reply With Copy — Compose and send a reply message to the originator of the received message and in clude a copy of the original message. •E r a s e — Delete this message from the Inbox. • Lock / Unlock — Blo ck/perm it erasure of th e highligh ted message.
53 4. T ap to compl ete the messa ge text and set message send options. The following opti ons appear in the display: • Save As Draft — Save the message to yo ur Drafts box. • Insert Quick T ext — Insert p re-comp osed text in your message. •P r i o r i t y Level — Choose Urgent or Normal .
Messaging 54 V oicemail Messages in you r voice ma ilbox are l ogged in the Vo icemail folder of the Messages menu. Open the Voicemail folder to view the Callbac k # (if avai lable), Urge ncy , and other details of the Voicemail messa ges in your voice m ailbox.
55 • All Messages — Deletes all unlocked messa ges stored in all of the message fold ers, except Voicemail. 3. Select the folder conta ining the messages that you wish to delete. Y ou’re prompted to confirm the e rasure of all messages in t he selected fo lder o r in all folders.
Camera-Camcorder 56 Section 6: Camera-Camcorder Use your Samsung phone to take full color digital p ictures and videos, display them on your phone’ s vivid co lor display , and instantly share them with family an d friends. It’ s fun, and as easy to use as a t raditiona l point-a nd-c lick camera or camcorder .

59 Tip : Y ou can change a number of the Camcorder’ s settings to suit particular uses for your pictures. For more information, refer to “Camcorder Options” on page 65. Screen Layouts Camera Screen When you activate your phone’ s camera, the first line of th e display is reserved for the current camera setti ngs and picture counter .

61 Mode Switch es to Camcorde r mode. The Camcorder view finder screen appears in the display . Shoot ing Mo de Shooting Mode lets you set your pho ne’ s Camera to take a one or more pictures, with or without co lorful formats or frames, at the touch of a key .
Camera-Camcorder 62 2. Select the desired Timer option. If you sele ct 3 , 5 , or 10 , the Self Timer icon appears in t he camera screen in the display . When you pres s the Camera key ( ), the countdown timer indicate s the time remaining bef ore the camera takes the picture.
63 Ef fects Change the look of your pictures with Effects. Choose from six available settings such as Gray , Negative, an d Sepia. The selected colo r effect previews i n the display befo re you take the picture. 1. In Camera mode, tap Options ➔ Camera tab ➔ Effects .
Camera-Camcorder 64 Rev i e w 1. In Camera mode, tap Options ➔ Settings tab ➔ Revi ew . The following op tions pop-up: •O n — Photos are d isplayed for review immediat ely a fter you take them . •O f f — Photos ar e not di splay ed after you take them.

Camera-Camcorder 66 Re s o l u t i o n This is an indicator only . Camco rder reso lution is f ixed at 176 x 144 (pixels). Brightness Brightness lets you temporarily lighten the vide os you record. Increasing the Brightness (-4 – +4) lightens you r videos ( 0 is normal).

Multimedia 76 Loading M usic Files T o transfe r music to a micr oSD™ Memor y Card, do the following: 1. Before loading music files on a Memory Card, do the following: • With your phone powere d off, inser t the M emory Card into y our phone. (Fo r more inform ation, see “Install a Memory Card” on page 8.

T ools Menu T ools is a suite of P ersonal Informa tion Mana gement (PIM) applica tions, such as a Calendar a nd Memo P ad, that run on your phone.

97 Security Use the Security menu to lock your phone, set up emergency numbers, enable or disable voice pr ivac y , set restri ctions, as well as other security options. 1. From the Phone Settings menu , tap Security . The Enter Code keypad screen appears in the display .
