4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps you to start using your phone by activating your service, inserti ng and charging the ba ttery , inserting an optional memor y card, and setting up your voicem ail. Getting Started 5 Remo v e and R eplace the R ear Co ver Y our Omnia II has a removable rear cover , which cov ers the batter y , microSD card slot and a slot for a ttaching a strap. Rem ove t h e C over 䊳 Remove the cover by pulling up us ing the sl ot provided, while lifting the cover up and off the phone.
6 Batter y Y our Omnia II is powered by a rechargeable stan dard Li-Ion battery , and comes with a wall charger for charging. Note: The battery comes partially ch arged. Y ou must fully charge the ba ttery before using your phone for the first time. A fully discharged battery requires up to 4 hours of charge time.

8 Batter y C apaci ty Y our Omnia II is powered by a rechargeable stan dard Li-ion battery . There is also an internal backup battery that saves all phone settings if the regular batt ery is discharged. The internal battery maintains data for appro xim ately four hours.
Getting Started 9 Pow ering the Phone On and Off 1. Press and hold the End/P ower key . 2. When powering On , the phone receives a signal from your home network and then logs in. At this point, the phone displays the home screen (page 24) and only functions as a PDA (allowing you t o run applications) until you activate the phone features.
10 Ringt ones an d Call Aler ts Y our Omnia II contai ns a number of standard ringtones, or you may choose to purchase and down load special ringtones using VZW T ones. For more information, refer to “VZW T ones” on page 84. Y ou may also set your phone to notify you by vibrating.

12 Visual V oice Mail Visu al Voice M ail allows you to manage vo ice mail directly f rom the device, wi thout having to dial voice mail , listen to voic e instructions, or list en to prior messages. Y ou must set up your Voice Mail before using Vi sual V oice Mail.

22 Notification Bar Icons The Notif icati on B ar displays at the bottom of the home screen to inform you of new messages a nd e-mails, missed calls, and voice mail. A number beside an icon indicates the number of notifications fo r the type. New SMS/MMS Message : T ap the icon to go to the Inbox.

24 Section 3: Displays Home Screen The home screen is your starting point for usin g the applications on your phone. Y ou can customiz e each home screen by placing Widgets according to your preference. Extended Home Screen The home screen ex tends beyond the displa y width to provide more space for adding icon s, widgets, and more.
Displays 25 Customizing H ome Screens Each home screen can be cust omized to fit your needs by docking widget(s) on the home screen, and by selecting wallpaper . Docking and Undocking Widgets For more information about using widgets, see “Docking and Undocking Widgets” on page 27.

32 Main Menus The Main Menus are the starti ng point for launching Omnia II’ s applications. The Cube has six sides, correspond ing to types of features on your phone: • Photo : View photos stored on your phone, launch My Pictures, launch Camera.

Call Functions 43 Section 5: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer calls. It also includes the features and functional ity associated with using your phone, as well as explaining the Nuance Voice Recognition feature built into your Omnia II.

Call Functions 49 Thr ee-way Calling Three-way calling allows you to talk to two diffe rent people at the same time. When using this featur e, normal ai rtime rates apply for each of the two ca lls. T o use three-way calling: 1. Dial the numb er for the first pe rson and press Send .

52 Section 6: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desire d text input method when entering characters into yo ur Omnia II. This sectio n also describes the predictive text entry system that reduces the amount of key strokes associ ated with entering tex t.
Entering T ext 53 Swype Swype is a new way t o enter text on touch screens . Instead of tapping each key , use y our finge r (or the stylus) to trace over each letter of a word. Fo r each word, place your finger or the stylus on the first letter and glid e to the subsequent letters, lifting on the last le tter .
54 Block R ecognizer Block Recognizer uses the traditional wri ting area box, spl it in the middle, to allow you to enter c haracters using single strokes. The left side is used to write letters and th e right side is for number entry. Symbols and commo n functions are located in other smaller boxes located to th e right of the writing box area.

76 Section 9: Multimedia and Music Applications The applications described in this section allow you to mana ge, play and view m ultimedia co ntent, such as mu sic and videos. Media Player Media Player offers a single interface to play and view your mu sic and video files.

When vie wing the Library, items are displayed in a scroll view. In scroll view, you can swipe to scroll through the selections, using your finger or the stylus.
