Assembling 10 Inser t the SIM or USIM card . 3 Place the SIM or USIM card into the devic e with • the gold-coloured contacts facing down. If you do not insert a SIM or USIM card, you can • only use your device ’ s non-net work services and some menus.
Assembling 11 Charge the batt er y Before using the device f or the rst time, you must charge the battery. Y ou can charge the device with the pr ovided travel adapter or by connecting the device to a PC with a PC data cable. Use only Samsung-approved char gers and cables.
Assembling 12 Improperly connecting the travel adapter can cause serious damage to the device. An y damage caused by misuse is not cover ed by the warranty. Plug the large end of the trav el adapter into a pow er 3 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charging , but it • may take longer to fully charge the battery .
Assembling 13 When the battery is fully charged (the battery icon is 4 no longer moving), unplug the PC data cable from the device and then from the PC. Inser t a memory card (optional) T o store additional multimedia les, y ou must inser t a memory card.
Assembling 14 Lift the memor y card co ver and inser t a memory card. 3 Be careful not to damage your ngers when you open the memory card cover . Close the memory card cover . 4 Y our device supports only the F A T le structure for • memory cards.
Assembling 15 Remove the memory card and close the memory card 3 c o v e r. Do not remove a memory card while the device is transferring or accessing inf ormation, as this could result in loss of data or damage to the memory card or device.

Getting started 22 Ac cess menus T o access your device ’ s menus, In Idle mode, press the Menu key to access Menu 1 mode. Scroll left or right to a main menu screen. 2 Y ou can also select a dot on the top of the screen to move to the corr esponding main menu screen directly .
Getting started 23 › Organise applications in Menu mode Y ou can reorganise the applications in Menu mode by changing their order or grouping them in to categories to suit your prefer ences and needs. In Idle mode, press the Menu key to access Menu 1 mode.
Getting started 24 Launch and manage applications › Launch multiple applications Y our device allows y ou to multi-task by running multiple applications at the same time. T o launch multiple applications, press the Menu key to return to the main menu and select an application to launch.

Getting started 29 › Lock your SIM or USIM car d Y ou can lock your device by activating the PIN supplied with your SIM or USIM card. In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Security . Select 2 PIN lock . Enter the PIN of your SIM or USIM card and select 3 Done .

Communication 34 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options available during a call or customising and using call-related f eatures. › Make and answer a call Y ou can use the buttons or the touch screen when y ou make, accept, end or r ejec t calls.
Communication 35 › Use the headset By plugging the supplied headset into the device, y ou can make and answer calls: T o redial the last call, press the headset butt on, and then • press and hold the button. T o answer a call, press the headset butt on.
Communication 36 T o dial a second call, place the rst call on hold and then • dial a new number . T o answer a second call, select • New call when a call waiting tone sounds. The rst call is automatically placed on hold. Y ou must subscribe to the call waiting service to use this feature .
Communication 37 T o zoom in or out, select • → Zoom . The zoom feature is a vailable only when you are using the r ear camera. T o apply the blur eect to your image, select • → Blur eect or tap and hold your image and select Blur eect .
Communication 38 Make a fake call Y ou can simulate incoming calls when you w ant to get out of meetings or unwanted con versations. T o activate the hot key to make fake calls, in Menu mode, select Settings → Applications → Call → F ake call → F ake call hot key .
Communication 39 Use F ixed Dialling Number (FDN) mode In FDN mode, your device will restrict outgoing calls, except f or the numbers stored in the SIM or USIM card. Y ou must rst set up your FDN list in the phonebook to use FDN mode. T o activate FDN mode, In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Security → F ixed dialling mode .
Communication 40 Set call waiting Call waiting is a network featur e to alert you of an incoming call while you are on a pr evious call. This feature is available only for v oice calls. In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Applications → Call → V oice call → Call waiting .
Communication 41 Select an option you want. 2 Option F unction Call duration Vi ew t ime dat a fo r yo ur ca lls , s uch as the duration of the last call and the total duration of all calls. Message counter View the number of messages you have sent or rec eived.
Communication 42 Select 5 Send to send the message. If you decide not to send a message immediately , • you can save it t o the draft folder for future use . If an error occurs while you ar e sending a message, • it will be saved in the outbox so y ou can tr y to resend it later .

Entertainment 51 Entertainment Camera Learn how to capture and view phot os and videos. Y ou can take photos at resolutions up to 2560 x 1920 pix els (5 mega pixels) and videos at resolutions up t o 1280 x 720 pixels. Phot os are saved in jpg format and videos are sav ed in mp4 format.
Entertainment 52 Number F unction 7 Change the focus mode; Y ou can take close-up photos or set the camera to focus on the subject or focus on human faces automatically . 8 Adjust the brightness; Select + to increase or – to decr ease. 9 View the photo or video you captur ed last.

Entertainment 57 Setting Function Review Set the camera to display the captured image. GPS connection Set the camera to include location information for y our photos. T o improve GPS sig nals, • avoid shooting in locations where the signal may be obstructed, such as between buildings or in low-lying areas, or in poor weather conditions.

The contact is saved to the fa vourite number list. T o add the number to your list of fav ourites, select a contact from Contacts and then select nex t to the contact name.

Y ou do not need to line up the devices to beam information with Bluetooth.
