Your phone 11 Key (s) Description In Menu mode, scroll through the menu options and Phone book. In Idle mode, allow you to access your favo rite menu options d irectly . For further detai ls about shortc uts, see page 119. In Menu mod e, the Left k ey returns to the previous menu level and the Right key selects the current menu.
Your phone 12 Makes or answers a call. In Idle mode, recalls the last number you dialed or received when held down . Deletes charact ers from the display . In Menu mode, returns to the previous menu level. Ends a call. Also switches on and off t he phone when held down.
13 Display Display layout The display has three areas: Area Description First line Displays various icons. See page 14. Middle lines Displays messages, instructions and any in format ion that y ou enter , such as the number you are dialling. Last line Shows the curr ent functions assign ed to the two soft keys.
Display 14 Icons Icon Descrip tion Shows the receiv ed signal strength. The greater t he number of bars , the stro nger the signal. Appears when a call is in pr ogress. Appears when you ar e out of your se rvice area. When it displays, you cannot mak e or receive a call.
Display 15 Backlight The backlig ht illumi nates the display and the keypad. When you press any key or open the phone, the backlight turns on and remains on for a given period o f time, depending on y our setting in the Back light menu ( Menu 5.2.3 ).
Display 16 Service light The servic e light is o n th e top right co rner of the phone. It flashes wh en services are a vailable o n the phone. T o activate or deactiva te the service light, set the Service light menu ( Menu 5.2.4 ). See page 112 for further details.
17 Getting started Installing the SIM card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in S IM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, an y optional services av ailable and so on.
Getting started 18 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM ca rd socket, as shown, so that it locks the card into position. Make sure the g old contacts of the card face into the phone. Note: When you ne ed to remo ve th e SIM card, slide it upw ards, as shown, and tak e it out of the so cket .
Getting started 19 5. Press down the battery until it clicks in to place. Make sure that the batter y is properly instal led before switching on t he power . Charging the battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . A trav el adapter com es with yo ur phone for charging the battery .

Getting started 21 Switching the phone on or off 1. Open the phone. 2. Press and hold the key until the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks you to enter a passw ord, enter the password and press the OK soft k ey . The phone password is preset to “000000 00” at the factory .
22 Call functions Making a call When the idle scre en displays, enter the area code and phone number , and then the key . Note: Whe n yo u ac ti vate th e Auto redi al option in the Extra sett ings menu ( Menu 5.7 ), the phone automatically redials up to ten times if the person does not answer the call or is already on the phone.
Call functions 23 Ending a call When you want to end your call , brief ly press t he key . Redialling t he last number The phone stores the numbers you’ ve dialed, received or missed if the caller is ide ntified. See “Call records” on page 88 for further details.
Call functions 24 Making a call from phone book Y ou can store phone numbers that you use regularly in the SIM card or in the phone’ s memory , which are collectively call ed Phone book.
Call functions 25 Answering a call When somebo dy calls you, the phone rings and displays the incomi ng call im age. When the caller can be identified, the caller ’s phone number , or name if stored in your Phone book, displays . 1. If necess ary , open the phone.
Call functions 26 Viewing misse d calls When you are unable to answ er a call for any reason, you can find out who called you so that y ou can cal l the per son back. The number of calls you missed displa ys on the idle screen immediately aft e r a call is missed.

Call functions 28 Quickly switching to sile nt mode Silent mode is convenient when y ou wish to stop the phone from ringing, in a the atre for example. In Idle mode, press and hold the key until the “Silent mode” message and the Vibratio n icon ( ) display .
29 Selecting functions and options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customize it. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using the two soft keys marked and . Each menu an d sub- menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.
Selecting functions and options 30 Selecting options T o view the various functions and options av ailable and to select the one you want: 1. Press the appropriate soft key . In some functions, you may be asked for a password or PIN. Enter the co de and press the OK soft key .
31 Phone book Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in both your SIM card and your phone’s memories . They are physically separate but are used as a single entity , called Phone book. Note: Depending on the manufacture of your SIM card, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM card can store may differ .
Phone book 32 4. Select a memory locatio n, either Phone memory or SIM mem ory , by pre ssing the Up or Down key and pr ess the Select soft key or key . Note: When you change phones, any numbers stored in your SIM card memory are automatically available with the new phone, whereas any numbers stored in the phone’s memory must be reentere d.

Phone book 34 Using phone book entry options While accessing any Phone book entry , press the Options soft key to access the opti ons for the entry . The following options are availab le: Paste : allows you to paste the number into the normal dialling mode.

Phone book 36 Dialling a number from phone book Once you have stored phone numbers in Phone book, you can dial them easily and quickly by using the location numbers that were assigned to them in Phone book. Dialling a number from the SIM card 1. In Idle mode, enter the location num ber of the number you want to dial and press the key .
Phone book 37 Speed dialling Y ou can assign up to eight phone numbers f rom Phone book that you use most frequently to the number keys ( 2 to 9 ), and then dial them eas ily whenever you w ant, simply by pressing and holding the associated number k ey .
Phone book 38 6. Once you have assigned a number to the key , you can use t he followi ng option s by pres sing the Options soft key or key: • Change : allows you to assign a different number to the key . • Delete : allows y ou to clear the setting so that no number is assigned to the key .

Phone book 42 Deleting all of the phone book entries Y ou can delete all of the entries in the selected memory or bo th memories . 1. When the idle screen displays, press the Phonebook soft k ey . 2. Scroll to Delete all by pressing the Up or Down key and press the Select soft key or key .
Phone book 43 Checking the memory status Y ou can check how many names and numbers are stored in Phone book, in both the SIM card and phone memories. Y ou can also see the capacity of both memories .
44 Entering text When using your phone, you w ill often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in Phone book, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.
Entering text 45 Changing the text input mode When you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you will notice the tex t input mode indicator on the display . Example : Writing a text message To select Press the right soft key until T9 mode displays.
Entering text 46 Using T9 mode T9 ia a predictive text input m ode that allows you to key in an y character us ing single keystrokes. This text input mode is based on a built -in dictiona ry . T o enter a word in T9 m ode: 1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys.
Entering text 47 T o add a new word into the T9 dictionary: 1. After pressing the k eys corresponding to the word you want to add, press the 0 or Do wn k ey to display the alternative w ords. 2. When you press the 0 or Down key at the last alternative word, the displa y shows Add on the bottom line.
Entering text 48 Using Alphabet mode Use the 1 to 0 keys to enter yo ur text. 1. Press the keys labe led with the letter you w ant: - Once for t he first lette r - T wice for the second letter - And so on 2. Select t he other letters in the same way .
Entering text 49 • T o insert a space, press the key . • T o shift the case in Alphabe t mode, use the key . There are three ca ses; Capital lock ( ), Lower case ( ), and Initial Ca pital ( ). • Y ou can move the cu rsor using the Left and Right keys.
50 Options during a call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Putting a call on hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can make another c all while you have a call in progress if your network sup ports this service.
Options during a call 51 Switching the microphone off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch off your phone’ s microphone so that the other person on the pho ne cannot hear you. Example : Y ou wish to say som ething to another person in the room but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.
Options during a c all 52 Muting or sendi ng key tones These options allow yo u to turn off or on the key tones. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does no t tran smit the D TMF (Dual T one Multi- Frequency) tones of the keys, which allows you to press keys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.
Options during a call 53 Searching for a number in phone book Y ou can search for a number in Phone book during a call. 1. Press the Options soft key . 2. Press the Down key to highlight the Phone book option. 3. Press the OK soft k ey . The Phone book entri es are listed.
Options during a c all 54 Call waiting Y ou can answer an i ncoming call while you have a call in progress, if your network sup ports this service and you hav e set the Call waiting menu ( Menu 7.3 ) to Activate ; see page 137. Y ou are notified of an in coming call by a call wait ing tone.

57 Using the menus The phone offers a rang e of functions that allow you to tailor it to your needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus. The menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scroll ing usin g the Naviga tion keys or by using the shortcuts.
Using the menus 58 Using shortcuts Menu items, such as menus, sub-menus, and options, can be accessed quickly by using their shortcut numbers. F or the main menus, you can access any one of them by pressing the number keys ( 1 to 9 ) corresponding to their location on the screen.

Messages 66 Creating a simple text message 1. Create your message. Note : For further d etails about entering characters, see page 44. 2. When you finish entering the m essage, press the Options soft key or key . The follo wing options are av ail able: • Send only : allows you to send the message.

Messages 68 Inbox (Menu 1.1.2) This message box is used to store the messages that you have received. When you enter this menu, the list of messages in the box displays with the senders’ phone numbers or names, if av ailable in your Phone book. The icons on the left tell you the status of the m essages: • : Messages that have been opened.
Messages 69 Move to SIM : allo ws you to move the messag e from the ph one’ s memory to the SIM card. This option is only available wh en you select a message stored in the phone’s memory . Select object : allows you to sa ve media objects, such as sounds or images, from the message into your phone.
Messages 70 Cut address : allows yo u to extr act the de stination number and URL, e-m ail addresses, or phone numbers from the message text. Move to phone : allo ws you to move the messag e from the SIM card to the phone memo ry . This option is only available wh en you select a message stored in the SI M card.
Messages 71 Multimedia messages (Menu 1.2) This menu allows you to use the Multimedia Message Service. Multimedia Message Service (MMS) is a service providi ng deliver y of per sonal mul timedia messages from phone to phone or fr om phone to e-mail .
Messages 72 2. When Add here highlights, press t he Options soft key and add t he message contents using one of the following options: • Add text : enter the message text and press the OK soft key . • Add my photo : allows you to add a photo you took using the camera on your phone.

After changing the settings, y ou need to press the soft key or the C key to go to back to the opti ons screen. • Add destinati on : allows you to ente r destination numbers or addresses.

If the duration you set is shorter than the content duration for a particular page, the content duration is autom atically decreased.

Messages 82 Voice mail (Menu 1.5) This menu allows you to access your v oice mailbox, if your network supports this service. The following options are availab le: Connect to voice server : before using the V oi ce Mail feature, you must enter the voice server number obtained from your service pro vider .
Messages 83 Settings (Menu 1.7) This menu allows you to configure various settings for using the Message feature. Text messages (Menu 1.7.1 ) In this menu, you can set up d efault SMS/EMS information . A setting group is a collection of settings required to send m essages.
Messages 84 Common settings : The following options are av ailable: Reply pat h : allows the recip ient of your m essage to send you a reply through y our message center , if your network sup ports this service. Delivery reports : allows you to activ ate or deactivate the report function.
Messages 85 Auto down load : you can set whether o r not your phone retrieves new incoming messages from the MMS serve r without notifications. On : the phone autom atically retrie ves new messages from the server . As soon as you receive a message you can use more options while you are reading.
Messages 86 Notes: • The last profile you acce ssed is au tomatically activated for sending m essages. • If you change the MMS settings witho ut first checking with your servic e provider , the MMS feature may not work properly . • The av ailability of the setting op tions ma y va ry , depending on yo ur country .
Messages 87 Broadcast (Menu 1.8) This network service allows you to receive text messages on v arious topics, such as the weather or traffic. Cell Broadcast (CB) messages display as soon as they are received, provided that: • the ph one is in Idle mo de.
88 Call records In this menu, you can view the: • calls you missed, received, or dialed. • length of your calls. Notes: • Y ou can access the numbe rs in the three types of call records by pressin g the key in Idle mod e. • The number of cal l records the phone can st ore may be different, depending on y our SIM card.
Call records 89 Received calls (Menu 2.2) This menu lets you view the most rece nt 20 numbers of the calls you received. The number or name, if av ailable, displays together with the time and date wh en the call was received. By pressing the Options soft key , you can: • edit the number , if av ailable, and dial it or save it in Phone book.
Call records 90 Delete all (Menu 2.4) This menu allows you to dele te all of the recor ds in each call record. Y ou can also delete all of your call records at one time. When a confirmation message displa ys, press the Yes soft key to confirm. To Press the select a call record to clear U p o r D o w n k e y.
Call records 91 Call time (Menu 2.5) This menu lets you view the ti mers for calls you made and received. Note: The actual time invoiced for calls by your service provider may v ary , depending on network features, rounding-off for billing purpos es and so on.
Call records 92 Call cost (Menu 2.6) This netword feature lets you view the cost of calls. This menu may not be av ailable depending on your SIM card. The following options are availab le: Last call cost : cost of the last call you made. Total cost : total cost of all calls you made since the cost counter was last reset.
93 Camera Using the camer a module embedd ed in your phone, you can take pho tos of pe ople or event s while on the mov e. Additionally , you can send photos to other people in a multimedia message or set one as a wallpaper for the idle screen or a caller ID image for a P hone bo ok entry .

Adjust the imag e by rotating the camer a module and aiming it at the subject. • Use the Left or Right key to adjust the brightness of the image. • Use the Up or Down key to zoom in or out. • Use the V olume keys on the left side of the phone to flip the image ve rtically or horizontally .
Camera 95 When you pre ss the Options soft key after sav ing a photo, the following options are av ailable: Send by MMS : allows you to send the photo using a multimedia message.
Camera 96 Using the number k eys in cap ture mode Y ou can use the number keys to customise your camera settings when y ou are in Capture mode. Using the camera opt ions In Capture mode, you can use v arious options by pressing the Options soft key . Key Function 1 switches to Record mode.
Camera 97 The following options are availab le: Effects : allows you to change the color tone or apply special effects to the photo. Frames : allows you to use a decor ated frame. Select a frame from the list. Press the View soft key to check the selected frame and the Select soft key to use it.
Camera 98 My photos (Menu 3.2) This menu allows you to review your photo s. When yo u access this menu, yo ur phone display s the photos in Thumbnail mo de. Use the Na vigation keys to scroll through the photos. T o view the photos on the ful l screen, press the key .
Camera 99 Video recorder (Menu 3.3) Y ou can record a video that is currently displayed on the camera screen and save it as a MPEG file. Y ou can also view the sample fi le stored in your phone. Record (Menu 3.3.1) Y ou can record videos. 1. Choose quality for the video image and press the Select soft key or key .
Camera 100 Files (Menu 3.3.2) When you access this menu, the video file list displays . T o play a video: 1. Select the video you want to view using the Up and Down keys. 2. T o play the video file, press the key . When you want to use options, press the Optio ns soft k ey .
Camera 101 Delete all : allows you to delete all of your video files stored in the phone. The protected videos are not deleted. Rename : allows you to chan ge the file name. Resize video : allows you to change the image quality and size of the vid eo.
102 Sound settings Y ou can use the Sound setti ngs feature to customize various set tings, such as the: • ring melo dy , volume, and type. • sounds made when you press a key , receive a message, open/close the phone, o r switch on/off your phon e.
Sound setting s 103 Alert ty pe (Menu 4.3) This menu allows you to specify how y ou are to be informed of incoming calls or the alarm settings. The following options are availab le: Light only : the service lig ht flashes; the phone neither rings nor vibrates.
Sound setti ngs 104 Message tone (Menu 4.5) This menu allows you to select how the phone informs you that a new message has been receiv ed. SMS tone (Menu 4.5.1) The following options are availab le for alerting you to new SMS message s: Off : the phone does not use an SMS tone.
