Getting star ted 12 Reducing the battery consumption Y our device pr ovides options that help y ou sav e the batter y pow er . By customising these options and deactivating featur es in the background, y ou can use the device longer between charges: • When you ar e not using the device, switch to sleep mode b y pressing the P ower butt on.
Getting star ted 13 1 Open the cov er of the memor y card slot. 2 Inser t a memor y card with the gold- colour ed contacts facing downw ards . 3 Push the memory card into the slot until it locks in plac e. 4 Close the cov er of the memor y card slot. Removing the memor y card Befor e removing the memory card, first unmount it f or safe remo val.
Getting star ted 14 F ormatting the memor y card A memor y card f or matted on a c omputer may not be c ompatible with the device . F ormat the memor y card on the device . On the Home screen, tap → Settings → Stor age → F ormat SD card → F ormat SD card → Erase ev er ything .
Getting star ted 15 L ock ing and unlock ing the screen Pr essing the Po wer button turns off the scr een and locks it. Also , the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used f or a specified period.
16 Basics U sing the touch scr een • Do not allow the touch scr een to come int o contact with other electr ical devices . Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch scr een to malfunc tion. • T o av oid damaging the touch scr een, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply ex cessive pr essure to it with your fingertips.

Basics 21 Apps scr een The Apps scr een displays ic ons for all apps , including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap to open the Apps scr een. T o view other panels, scr oll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bottom of the scr een.
Basics 22 Indicator ic ons Indicator icons appear on the status bar at the t op of the screen. T he icons listed in the table below are most c ommon. The status bar ma y not appear at the top of the scr een in some apps. T o display the status bar , drag down from the top of the scr een.
