Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section allows you to qui ckly start using your Samsung SCH-R930 phone by installing th e SIM and microSD ca rds, installing and charging the battery , activati ng your service, a nd setting up your vo icemai l account.

Getting Started 7 Inst alli ng the SIM Car d When you subscribe to a 4G L TE cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card load ed with yo ur subscription details, such as your PIN, availa ble optional services, and many others features. This SIM card wi ll only work with this device.

Getting Started 9 Inst alli ng the Memor y Car d Y our device lets yo u install a microSD (SD) or micr oSDHC memory card to expand available memo ry to store i mages, videos, music, applications, and data. 1. Remove the battery cover . 2. Locate the mic roSD card slot on the i nside of the phone.
10 4. Firmly press the card into the slot and release it. The ca rd should pop partially out of the slot. 5. Remove the card from the slot. 6. Replace the battery cover . For more information, refer to “Installing the battery cover” on page 11. Installing the Batter y 1.
Getting Started 11 Inst alli ng the batte r y co ver 䊳 Align the cover and press it fi rmly into p lace, making sure it snaps into place at the corners. Char ging t he Batt er y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-ion ba ttery. A wall charger , which is used for charging the battery , is included with your phone.
12 Note: Verify that the battery is installed prior to connecting the wall charger . If both the wall charger is connected and the battery is not installed, the handset will power cycle continuously and prevent proper operation. Failure to unplug the wall charger before you remove the battery, can cause the phone to become damaged.
Getting Started 13 Import ant!: If your handset has a touch screen display , please note that a touch screen responds best to a light touch from the pad of your finger or a non-metallic stylus. Using excessive force or a metallic object when pressing on the touch screen may damage the tempered glass surface and void the warranty .
14 TTY Mode Y our phone is fully TTY -compat ible , allowing you to c onnect a TTY device to the phone’ s headse t jack. Before you can use your phone with a TTY device, you’ll need to enable TTY Mod e. For more informat ion, refer to “TTY mode” on page 120.
Getting Started 15 V oicemail All unanswere d calls to your phone are sent to voicemail, even if your phone is turned off, so you’ ll want to set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as you activate your phone. Call Functions 35 Dialing Emer gency Numbers When you call an Emergency Number , such as 911, do not disconnect the call or ma ke other calls until advise d to do so by the emergency operator . This enables emergency operators to more easily dispatch aid, such as police, fire fighting, and emergenc y medica l personnel.

Entering T ext 41 Changing the K eyboar d Type When entering text, you can se le ct the type of on-scree n keyboard you wish to use. 1. T ouch and hold on a te xt input field, the Edit text pop-up appears. 2. Select Input method , the Select input method pop-up appears.

Entering T ext 43 Changing the T ext Input Mode - K eypad There are two main text input keys tha t change the on-screen keys within the Samsung keypad. The available T ext Input modes are: ?123 and Abc . Note: When in ABC mode, the ?123 key appears. When in ?123 mode, the ABC key appears.

54 Sending N amecards Y ou can send a contact’ s inform ati on as a namecard over a Bluetooth connection to another Bluetooth device, or as an attachment to a Gmail message. Important!: Not all Bluetooth devices will accept contact information. Check the target device’ s documentation.

Thr eaded messages allow you to se e all the message s you exchanged with a Contact or other recipient, with the latest message displayed first.

Music 75 Section 8: Music Music A pp Also known as Google Music, allows you to br owse, shop, and playback songs purchased from Google Play Store. The music you choose is a utomatically stored in your Go ogle Music library and instantly ready to play or download.

The tracks in the cur rent list play in order until you reach the end of the list (unless you choo se a repeat option). Otherwise, playback st ops only if you stop it, even when you switch a pplicat ions.
78 Options While Playing a S ong When you play a song, the Now playing screen displays. There are various options and controls availa ble while a song is playing: 1. 90 Section 10: Connections In addition to its network co nnections, your phone includes features to connec t to the internet and to ot her devices, via Wi-F i, Bluetooth, VPN, and Dial Up Networking. Wi -F i Wi-Fi is a wireless networking tech nology tha t provides access to local area netwo rks.

Connections 93 Blueto oth Bluetooth is a short-ra nge wireless communi cations technology for exchanging info rmation over a di stance of about 30 fe et. Y ou don’t need to line up the de vices to send information with Bluetooth. If the devices ar e in range, you can exchange informatio n between them, even if they are in different rooms.
94 T ethering When activated, T ethering uses your phone to provide a USB- connected device (such as a pers onal computer) wi th access to your Wireless Provider’ s netw ork. Important!: Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot requires a data connection and consumes battery power.
Connections 95 T ransfer ring Files to a Memor y Card 1. Connect your phone to a pers onal computer with the USB Cable. Y our phone should re cognize the connection and should display the USB conn ected screen a nd USB connected in the Status Bar and Notifications Panel.
