(To ensure high-quality playback, editing, and storage of recorded contents, we recommend using highly reliable DVCAM cassettes.
Chapter 3 Shooting 36 Chapter 3 Shooting Cassettes f or the DSR-1/1P Notes on using cassettes • Before storing the cassette, rewind the tape to the beginning and be sure to put the cassette in its storage case, preferably on end instead of flat on its side.

If the VCR is operated in this state, the tape may adhere to the drum, and cause a failure or even permanent damage.
