Getting star ted 15 Deleting a desktop 1 Selec t on the taskbar . 2 Move the cursor o ver the desktop ic on you want t o delete. Then, select in the upper-right corner of the icon.
Getting star ted 16 2 When the action center panel appears , select a message to check it. Y ou can enable or disable push notifications for applications. Y ou can also set personalized hot keys t o appear in the action center by selecting the Star t button ( ) → Settings → Syst em → Notifications & actions .
17 Basics W ir ed keyboar d/mouse (optional) W ired ke yboard Use the keyboard t o enter characters and per form various func tions. Directional keys Moves the cursor up , down, left, or right. Number key s The numeric keypad can be used when the Num Lock key is pressed.
Basics 18 Clicking Briefly press the left mouse button once . Click this button once t o select an item. Double - click ing Double - click an item to launch it. Right- clicking Click the right mouse button once t o display the con text-sensitive menu f or the current pr ogram.

Basics 20 3 Move the switch a t the bottom of the mouse to the ON position. Y ou can now use your wireless keyboar d and mouse. • The wireless keyboar d and wireless mouse can operate within 5 meters of the wireless sig nal sensor . • The range is based on the opera ting envir onment.
Basics 21 2 Inser t the batteries and then close the batter y co ver . 1 2 • Ensure the positiv e (+) and negative (-) ends of the batteries are positioned c or rectly . • The AAA batteries supplied with the pr oduc t cannot be rechar ged. Basics 23 Key/Ic on Function Description F9 Mute T oggle the sound on and off . F10 V olume control Adjust the v olume. F11 F12 P ower saving mode Switch t o power sa ving mode. The wireless keyboar d automatically enters pow er saving mode if there is no key input f or a preset period.

Basics 28 T o use a mini or micro card , inser t the card into an adapter bef ore inser ting it into the memory card slot. • Some memor y cards may not be fully compa tible with the computer . Using an incompatible card ma y damage the computer or the memory card, or corrupt the data stored in it .
Basics 29 3 Selec t the pop-up message to open the memor y card f older . If a pop -up message appears, select the corresponding window → Con tinue without scanning . 4 Selec t Open folder to view files . 5 Save , move, or delet e data on the memor y card.
Basics 30 • T o use a memor y card to ex change data with a digital device , such as a digital camera, f ormatting the data with the digital device is r ecommended. • When tr ying to use a f or matted memory card in another digital device , format the memor y card again in the device .
Basics 31 2 On the desktop screen, right - click the Start button ( ) and select Con trol P anel → Appearanc e and Personalization → Display → Change display settings → Display → an option. Selec t a mode. • PC screen only : Show the screen on the c omputer monitor only .
Basics 32 Monitor mode is only available when a sour ce is detec ted at the HDMI-IN por t. • If the computer is turned off , the L CD can still be used as a monitor as long as the pow er adapter is connected to an electrical outlet.
Basics 33 C onnec ting the computer to a mobile de vice using Bluetooth If you connect the computer and the mobile device via Bluetooth for the first time , per form the f ollowing steps. 1 Pr ess the Bluetooth button ( ) on the computer . The Bluetooth LED blinks and P airing is display ed on the computer scr een.
Basics 34 3 When the devices ar e paired , Connected is display ed on the computer scr een. Bluetooth Music Play Connected Y ou can now select a music file stored on the mobile device and listen to it using the c omputer ’ s speakers. 2 On the mobile device , activate the Bluetooth fea ture and tap Bluetooth Music Pla y .
Basics 35 T urning off the computer speak ers T o turn off the speakers, press the Bluetooth butt on ( ) on the computer . The Bluetooth LED will turn off and Off will be display ed in the lower -r ight corner of the scr een. • If the speakers do not work properly , check the Bluetooth connection and tr y again.
Basics 36 W ired LAN 1 Connect a LAN cable to the LAN por t on the computer . W ir ed LAN T o access the Internet at home, set up an ac count with an Internet ser vice pro vider (ISP). Basics 38 W ake on LAN ( WOL) fea ture Activate the sy stem remot ely from sleep mode when a signal , such as a magic packet command , is received via a wir ed LAN. 1 On the desktop , right- click the Star t button ( ) and select Con trol P anel → Network and Internet → Network and Sharing C enter → Change adapter settings .
Basics 39 • When connected to a 100 Mbps/1 Gbps wir ed LAN, a message appears informing the user of connection to a 10 Mbps/100 Mbps wired LAN when the comput er wakes from sleep mode . This happens because restoring the network takes about 3 seconds .
Basics 40 C onnec ting to a W i-F i net w ork 1 On the taskbar , select . AP List W ir eless LAN Connect the computer to a wir eless net work to use the Internet. The descriptions below ar e for c omputer models with a Wir eless LAN card or device. A Wireless LAN devic e is optional.
Basics 41 2 Selec t a network from the list of det ected wireless networks and select Connect automatically → Connect . 3 Enter a passw ord , if necessar y , and selec t Nex t . Once the comput er has been connected to a wireless network, it will attempt to connect to it automatically when it is available .

62 T roubleshooting Samsung Recov er y When a problem oc curs with the computer , it is easy to restor e the computer back t o the factor y default settings by using the Samsung Recov er y application (Recov er y/Back up). It is also possible to rest ore the computer to a pr eviously backed up point.

The comput er has an additional par tition for r estoring data or saving backup files (only for models with the Samsung Recov er y application). This par tition is called a Recovery area and it includes a reco ver y image comprised of the operating system and applications.
T roubleshooting 70 What is a r ecov er y image? This ref ers to the operating syst em, drivers, and software that ar e con verted to a data image. It is required t o recover the c omputer and is embedded in the computer ’ s HDD .

Appendix 72 • Use an adjustable chair with firm, comf or table suppor t. • Adjust the height of y our chair so that thighs are horizontal to the floor and feet ar e flat on the floor . • The back of the chair should support the lower back.
Appendix 73 • When using the keyboard and t ouchpad, the shoulders should be relax ed. Appendix 87 Cautions on pr eventing data loss (har d disk management) T ake care not to damage the data on a har d disk drive. • A hard disk drive is so sensitiv e to external impac t that an external impac t may cause loss of data on the surface of the disk.
Appendix 88 L CD bad pixels Samsung obser ves strict specifications regarding the quality and reliability of the L CD . Howev er , there is a small chance tha t a few pix els may be bad. A large number of bad pix els can cause problems with the displa y , but a small number of bad pixels does not generally aff ect computer per formance.
Appendix 89 Setting up the system • Read and follow all instructions marked on the product and in the documentation bef ore opera ting the system. Retain all safety and operating instructions for futur e use. • Do not use this product near water or a heat sour ce such as a radiator .
