Getting Started 4 Section 2: Getting Star ted This section explains how to start using your Sams ung Delve phone by activating your service, setting u p your Vo icemail, o r getting an unders tanding of how this manual is put together .
5 Use the T rav el Adap ter The travel adapter included with your phone is a convenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone from any 120/220 V AC outlet. 1. Plug the larg e end of the T ravel Adapter into a stan dard 120 V AC or 220 VAC wall outlet.
Getting Started 6 Impo rtan t!: Y ou must fully charge the ba ttery the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the batter y . From fully discharged to fully charged, the battery requires up to 4 hours of charge time.

Note: As with any other radio-transmitting device, do not touch the antenna (at the bottom of the phone) while using your phone as this can affect call quality and can cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than is necessar y .

The top line of your phone’ s display con tains icons that indicate network status, battery power , signal strength, connection type, and more. 2. T apping the right arrow tab on the left side of t he display opens the Widget bar that lists av ailable shortcut widgets.

Call Functions 20 Section 4: Call Funct ions This section explains how to make or answer a call. This section also inc ludes the features an d function ality a ssociated with making or answe ring a call . Making a Call — Number Entr y Dialing 1. In standby mode, press the Dialer soft key .
21 Man ual P a use C alling When you c all automa ted system s (like banking serv ices), you are often re quired to enter a pa ssword or account number . Instead of manually entering th e numbers each time, you can store the n umbers in yo ur Contacts along with special chara cters called pauses.
Call Functions 22 If the sel ected Contacts e ntry has more than one number , the ent r y’ s information appears in the display . • Sele ct the n umbe r you w ish to dial. 4. Press the Add soft key . 5. The selected Contact’ s number appears in the Di aler screen.
23 Making a Call — V oice Dialing Y our Delve mobile phone incl udes s tate-of-the-art voice recognition softwa re that lets you dial num bers usi ng you r voice . Usin g V oice Dial Use the V oice Dial command to dial an y number stored in your Contacts list by sayi ng the name of t he contact (Name Di aling).

Call Functions 30 Data Ca lls Y ou can revie w all of th e data calls log entri es for the t ime and date of a call, as well as other information. 1. In standby mode, press the Menu soft key , the n select Calls . The Calls list appears in the display showing All calls.

Call Functions 32 Note: Some features may be unavailable while roaming. Roaming also consumes additional power from the batter y requiring more frequent recharging. Contact your Wireless Provider for more information about Roaming. How R o aming Wor ks Roam Option lets you set roaming preferences if you move in and out of y our home net work.
33 Section 5: Menu Naviga tion This section explains th e menu navi gation fo r your phone. It also describes the menus availa ble with your phone. Menu Naviga tion Access menus using the Menu soft key , other so ft keys, or icons on the Widget Bar or Shortcut Bar .
Menu Navigation 34 3. Press, hold, an d slide the ico n to the right until it is f ree of the Widget Bar . The icon now displays on the standby screen and expan ds in size. Note: Y ou can position a Widg et icon as needed by pressing, holding, and sliding it.
35 Soft K eys The following soft keys are ava ilable during a c all: • Dialer — Opens the D ialer screen to enable you to p lace another call while the current call remai ns active. • Contacts — Opens the C ontacts list screen . • Messages — Launches the Messages menu.

39 Adding the n umber to an existing Contacts entr y : 6. Select Update Existing . The Contacts screen appears in the display showing your current Contacts list. 7. Select the Se arch field and enter the first few characters of the Contact s entr y name under which you will store the saved number .

49 Section 7: Entering T ext This section details how to select the type of text entr y screen (phone-style touch ke ypad, QWER TY touch keypad, or divided or full-screen handwriting recogniti on panel).
Entering T ext 50 The following options a p pear in the display: • 3X4 Keypad — Displays the p hone-style touch keyp ad. •Q W E R T Y — Displays the keyboa rd-style to uch keypad, in land scape mode. • Handwriting box — D isplays the divid ed text en tr y screen with the handw ritten text entry field at th e bottom.
51 Accessing the Divided Handwr iting Recognition Screen The divided Handwriting Recognition screen offers separate messa ge text (uppe r) and de dica ted handwriting (lower) fields.
Entering T ext 52 8. T o correct any handwriting re cognition errors, press the down arro w (at the upper right corner of the s creen), then select 3X4 Keypad or QWER TY . Changing the T ext Entr y Mode T ext messages can be made up of alphabetical ch aracters, numbers, and symbols.

55 䊳 While composing a text messa ge, enter symbols by using one of follow ing keypads: • Using t he phone key pad: – Press the Symbols soft key . The first of four symbol screens appears in the display . – Use the Prev and Next soft keys to page th rough the other s ymbols, if desired.

Thi s section also describ es the features and fun ctionality a ssociated with m essaging. Creating and Sending New Messages This section guides yo u through procedu res for creating and sending text, picture, an d postcards.

Messaging 58 Creating and Sending a Picture Message 1. In standby mode, press the Messages soft key , then select Create Message ➔ Picture Message . The Picture Msg screen appears in the display showing the To list. Tip : Y ou can also access Messa ges by pressing the Menu soft key and selecting Messages .

Messaging 66 Outbo x Y our phone stores outgoing messag es in the Outbox, regardless of whether the message was successf ully sent to, or received by , the addressee. Tip : Verify whether and when a message or e-mail was successfully received by enabling the Deliver y Ack message send option.
67 • T o delete one or more me ssages, press the Erase soft key , select the message (s) to be de leted, then pr ess the Erase soft key again. • T o access other options, press the More soft ke y .

E-mail 70 Section 9: E-mail The E-Mail fea ture is an integrated messa ging appl ication t hat lets you send and receive e-m ail messages f rom your personal e- mail account(s) and/or from your business e-mail account. This section details how to la unch the E-Mail feature.
71 Section 10: Alltel Shop This section expl ains the Allt el Shop feat ures where users can download multime dia, applica tio ns, games, and check news and sports. Finding Applications With Alltel Shop, you ca n download full featured a pplications over t he air including games, personalized ring tones, pictures, and more.

73 Section 11: Alltel W eb This section outlines how to launch Alltel Web, how to navigate to other pages on the web, a nd how the keys on the keypad are used with the web application.
Alltel Web 74 • Links (embedded in content). • Numbered options (some may not be numbered). • Simple text. Y ou can act upon opt ions or links by selecting them. Using Links Links have several pur poses, such as jumping to a d ifferent page, to a different site, or even initiating a phone call.

When the batter y is low, an empty battery icon flashes and the phone sounds an alert, which indicates your phone is about to shut do wn.

85 Bri ght ness Brightness lets you temporarily lighten the pictures you take. Increasing the Brightness (-4 – +4) lightens your pictures (0 is normal). 1. In camera mode, press . The Brightness adjustment appears in the display . 2. T o brighten your next pictur e(s), press .
Camera-Camcorder 86 1. In camera mode, press ( ), then select Camera T ab ➔ Whit e Bala nce . The name of the current White Balance setting appears in the second line of the display . The options are: •A u t o — The camera automatica lly adj usts color ba lance to available light.
87 Exp osure m ete rin g 1. In camera mode, press ( ), then select Camera T ab ➔ Exposure metering . The following options a ppear in the display: •N o r m a l — Adj usts exposure to the ave rage ligh t level over a large picture a rea.

89 Zoom Zoom lets yo u temporarily enlarge the videos you tak e. Increasing t he Zoom (2 – 9) enlarge s your videos (1 i s normal). 䊳 In camcorder mode, use the Up an d Down Volume keys to adjust the Zoom (the scre en image enlarges to show the affects of your changes).
