So if any tray is empty , then the machine tri es to search the paper from the next available tray .
1 .9 < Introduction> Setup PCL This menu sets the PCL emulatio n configuration. Y ou can set the font type, symbol type, lines per page, and font size.

4 .4 < Selecting a nd loadin g print media> Caution Using photographic paper or coated paper may cause problems, requiring repairs. Su ch repairs are not covered by Samsung’s warranty or service agreements.

5 .1 < Basic printing > 5 Basic printing This chapter explains common printing tasks. Printing a document Y our machine allows you to print from various Windows, Macintosh, or Linux applications. The exact steps fo r printing a document ma y vary depending on the application you use.
6 .1 < Maintenanc e> 6 Maintenance This chapter provides information for maintaining your machine and the toner cartridge. This chapter includes: • Printing a mac hine configura tion report .
6 .2 < Maintenanc e> 2 Using the handle, completely open the front cover . Caution • Do not touch the gree n surface, the OPC drum or the front of the toner cartridge, with your hands or any other material. Use the handle on each cartrid ge in order to avoid touching this area.
6 .3 < Maintenanc e> 6 With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe away any dust and spilled toner from the toner cartridges area and their cavities. Note If toner gets on your clothing, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash it in cold water . Hot water sets toner into fabric.
6 .4 < Maintenanc e> 2 Grasp the handles on the toner cartridge and pull to re move the cartridge from the machine. Caution If you open the front door , be careful not to touch the underneath of the control panel (the lower part of the fuser unit).
6 .5 < Maintenanc e> 3 Grasp the handles on the empty toner cartridge and pull to remove the cartridge from the machine. Caution If you open the front door , be careful not to touch the underneath of the control panel (the lower part of the fuser unit).
6 .6 < Maintenanc e> Replacing the p aper transfer belt The life of the paper tran sfer belt is approximately 50,000 black and color pages. After the life sp an of the paper transfer belt is complete, you have to replace it. • The transfer belt-related message appea rs on the display , telling it's time for a replacement.
6 .7 < Maintenanc e> 6 Lower the paper transfer belt until it is parallel with the front cover and firmly seated. 7 Close the front cover firmly . Caution If the front cover is not completely closed, the machine will not operate. 8 T urn the machine on.
7 .1 < Troubleshooti ng> 7 Troubleshooting This chapter gives helpful information on what to do if you encounter a problem. This chapter includes: • Tip s for avoiding p aper jams • Clearing.
7 .2 < Troubleshooti ng> Caution • Do not touch the gree n surface, the OPC drum or the front of each toner cartridge, with your hands or any other material. Use the handle on each cartrid ge in order to avoid touching this area. • Be careful not to scratch the surface of the paper transfer belt.
7 .3 < Troubleshooti ng> In the multi-purpose tray When you prin t using the multi- purpose tray and the mach ine detects that there is either no paper or that the paper has been improperly loaded, follow the next steps to rel ease the jammed paper .
7 .4 < Troubleshooti ng> 9 Remove the jammed paper by pulling in the direction shown. T o avoid tearing the paper , pull it out gently an d slowly . Caution • Do not touch the gree n surface, the OPC drum or the front of each toner cartridge, with your hands or any other material.
7 .5 < Troubleshooti ng> 3 Pull up the paper jam lever to release the fusing part of the fuser unit and carefully take the jammed p aper out of the machine.
7 .6 < Troubleshooti ng> 5 Press down the paper jam lever to fasten th e fusing part. 6 Close the inner cover . 7 After removing the jammed paper , check for paper which may be jammed in other parts of the machine. 8 Close the top cover . Make sure that it is securely latched.
7 .7 < Troubleshooti ng> 5 Pull the jammed paper out in the di rection shown. T o avoid tearing the paper , pull it out gently and slowly . 6 Close the front cover firmly . The machine will resume printing. Caution If the front cover is not completely closed, the machine will not operate.
7 .8 < Troubleshooti ng> Duplex Jam 0 Check Inside Paper has jammed during duplex printing. This is applicable only to machines with this feature. Clear the jam. (Page 7.1) Fuser Fan Locked There is a problem with the fan for the fuser unit. Cycle power .
7 .9 < Troubleshooti ng> Replace Fuser The life of the fuser unit is expired. Replace the fuser unit with a new one. Contact the service representatives. Replace Fuser Soon The life of the fuser unit will be expired soon. Replace the fuser unit with a new one.
7 .10 < Troubleshooti ng> Solving other problems The following chart lists some conditions that may occur and the recommended solutions. Follow the sugge sted solutions until the problem is corrected. If the prob lem persists, call for service. Paper feeding problems Condition Sugg ested solutions Paper is jammed during printing.
7 .11 < Troubleshooti ng> The print quality is not good or not clear . The environm ent is in the low temperatur e and low humidity . This envionment can cause the uncl ear print quality . Go to printer properties, and change the printe r language in Printer tab.
7 .12 < Troubleshooti ng> The print quality of photos is not good. Images are not clear . The resolution is set to Normal . Change the resolution to Best in the ma chine properties window and then try printing again. The resolution of the photo is very low .
7 .13 < Troubleshooti ng> White Spot s White spots appear on the page: • The paper is too rough and a l ot of dirt from the paper falls to the inner devices within the machine, which means the transfer belt may be dirty . Clean the inside of your machine.
7 .14 < Troubleshooti ng> Curl or wave • Ensure that the paper is loaded properly . • Check the paper type and quality . Both high temperature and humidity can cause paper curl. (See "Specifications on print media" on page 4.2.) • T urn the stack of paper over in the tray .

An unknown image repetitively appe ars on the next few sheet s or loos e toner , ligh t print, or contamination occurs.

Open the Unified Driver configuration tool a nd switch to the Printers tab in the Printers configuration window to look at the list of available machines.

Basic Printing 14 Printing to a file (PRN) Y ou will sometime s need to sav e the print data as a file for your purpose. T o create a file : 1 Check the Print to file box at the Print window. 2 Select the folder and assign a na me of the file and then click OK.
Basic Printing 15 Layout Tab The Layout tab provides options to adjust how the document appears on the printe d page. Basic Printing 16 Type Set Type to correspond to the paper loaded in the tray from which you want to print. This will let you get the best quality printout. If not, print quality ma y not be acheived as you want. Cotton : 20 lb to 24 lb (75~90 g/m 2 ) cotton paper such as Gilbert 25 % and Gilbert 100 %.
Basic Printing 17 Advanced Options Y ou can set advanced settings by clicking the Advanced Options button. • Raster Compression : This opt ion det ermines the compression level of images for transferring data from a computer to a printer . If you set t his option to Maximum, the printing speed will be high, but the printing qualit y will be low .
