5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by first configuring your hard ware, activating your service, and then setting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is necess ary to install both the battery and SIM into their corresponding inte rnal compartments.
Getting Started 6 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the phone does not detect the SIM card. Re-orient the card back into the slot. Inst alli ng the Memor y Card Y our phone also supports the use of a memory card (microSD) for data storage of such things as da ta, music, pictures, and video files.
7 3. Replace the batter y cover onto the back of the phone in the direction shown by the arrow (1). 4. Press down along the bottom of the phone until you hear a light click (2). 5. Press down firmly along the e dges to ensure that the cover is flush with the phone (3).
Getting Started 8 2. Plug the data cable into the ba se piece provided and into the Power/Accessor y Interfac e connector on your phone. 3. Plug the base piece into a standard AC wall outlet. 4. When the battery is fully charged, the phone displays a message telling you the batt ery is full.
9 Switching the Phone On or Off 1. Press and hold or unti l the pho ne switches on. The phone launches the activati on splash screen and then proceeds to search for the ne twork. On ce the network h as been found, you can ma ke or receive calls. Note: The display language is preset to English at the factory.

It also displays the screen and th e icons that display when the phone is in use. F eatures of Y ou r Phone Y our phone is lightweight, easy -to-use and offe rs many useful features.
11 1. External speaker : allows you to hear the caller . 2. Display : shows the information needed t o operate your phone, such as the received signal streng th, phone battery level, time, etc. 3. Left Soft key : allows you to select actions or menu items corresponding to the bott om left line on the display screen.

13 8. Enter key : allows you start a new line when typing a message. 9. Back key : allows you to return to the previous menu. This key also allo ws you to return to the previous page within the Web browser . In Idle mode, press this key to display the Calendar in Month view .
Understanding Y our Phone 14 Rear View of Y our Phone 1. Camera lens : is used to take pict ures and shoot videos. 2. Speaker : allows you to hear music. Display Layout Y our display scr een provides a we alth of info rmation about the phone’ s status and options.
15 Displays when your connection to a 3G network is active. Displays when your phone is communicating with the 3G network. Displays when an internal micro S D memory card is detected. Displays when the phone is connected to a computer via a supported USB cable connection.

19 Section 3: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text entry mode when entering characters usin g the Q WERTY ke yboard-style keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the numb er of key strokes needed to enter text.
Entering T ext 20 Changing the T ext Input Mode The available T ext Input modes are: Fn ( 123 numeric), Abc , and Symbols (Sym) . Refer to the T ext Input mode in the upper right corner of the screen t o identify the mode. • Abc : activates the default alphabet keys.
21 Using SYM ( symbol ) Mode Symbol mode enables you to i nsert symbols and punctuation marks into text. 1. In Landscape mode, press the key to display a matrix of symbols . Use the a rrow keys to display more tables. 2. Select the numbe r of the corresponding symb ol and pres s the OK soft key to ins e rt the symbol into the t ext message.
Entering T ext 22 Add a New W ord into the T9 Dictionar y 1. After pressing the keys corresponding to the word you want to add, press the key to display the alternative words. 2. When the last alternative word displays, Spell displays. Press the Spell soft key .
23 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a ca ll. It also includes the features and function ality as sociated with maki ng or answering a call. Note: Keys shown in this section represent keys shown on the front of the phone.

Cor re cting an Enter ed Number Use the following steps to co rrect a mis-typed entry when dialing. 1. 25 Making a Call from the Address Book Y ou can store phone numbers that you use regularly on the SIM card or in the phone’s memory . These entries are c ollectively called the Address Book . For further details ab out the Address Book feature, see “F inding an Address Book Entry” on page 43.
Call Functions 26 T o make a new call while you have a call in progress: 1. While on a ca ll, press Options ➔ Hold . 2. Dial the new phone number or look it up in the Address Book. 3. Press to dial the second number . – or – Press Options ➔ New Call to dial the second number .

29 Play a Video Sh are R ecording During a call (while not in a Liv e Video Sh are session) you can share a recorded vide o for the re cipient. 1. Press Option s ➔ Vi de o S ha r e ➔ Recorded and then select from the availa ble files in your Vi de o folder .
Call Functions 30 Viewing Missed Calls The number of calls missed displays on the Idle screen. 1. From the Idle Screen, briefly press and use the Right navigation key to scroll to the Missed calls screen. The most recently missed calls disp lay. If there is on ly one missed call, pressing dials the numb e r .
31 Deleting a Missed Call 1. From the Idle Screen, briefly press and use the Right navigat ion key to scroll to the Missed calls screen. 2. Highlight the desi red missed call. 3. Press Options ➔ Delete and press the Right navigation key to choose Selected or All .
Call Functions 32 Call Waiting The Call Waiting feature allo ws you to answ er an incoming call while you have a call in progress, if th is ser vice is supported by the network, and you have set the Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Call s ➔ Voice Call ➔ Call waiting Menu to Activated .
33 Section 5: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive diffe rent types of messages. It al so includes the features and functional ity associated with messaging.
Messaging 34 • Sound : allows you t o choose an exist ing audio f ile from the Audio folder . • T emplates : allows you to in sert pre-wr itten sent ences, such as “Call me when you get this message”. •E m o t i c o n : allows you to add emoticons, such as a happy f ace to your me ssage.
35 8. Press Send agai n. Viewing New Receiv ed Messa ges 1. In Idle mode, new messages ar e indicated by i cons and a New Message pop-up . 2. Press the Vi ew button from the New Message pop-up . Note: If you accidentally exit from this notification screen, navigate to Menu ➔ Messaging ➔ Inbox to access your messages.
Messaging 36 Deleting Messages When your phon e’ s memory is full, an not ification mess a ge displays and you cannot receiv e any new messages. Use the Delete option to eras e obsolete messages, freeing m emory for new messages. Y ou can delete th e messages eith er individually or all at one time.
37 – Message Size : you can set the maximum allowed size for a multimedia message. – Get Deli very Re port : when this option is enabled, the netwo rk informs you whether or no t your message was deliv ered. – Get Read Report : when this option is e nabled, your phone sends a request for a reply along with your mes sa ge to the recipient.
Messaging 38 V oicemail The Voic email option allows you edit the existing nu mber and create a new number to use wh en accessing remote voice mail. Import ant!: Changing the Voicemail Center Address can affect your ability to access your voicemail. Check with your provider’ s Customer Service before changing.
39 3. Select New Account and then select the avai lable fields to enter your information such as Sign In as, Screen N ame, E- mail Address or Y ahoo! ID, and Password. Sele ct any additional fields. 4. Check the Save password or Auto-Sign In checkbox (if desired).

Understanding Y our Addres s Book 46 Group Settings Cre ating a New G rou p 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ Groups . 2. Press Options ➔ Create group . 3. Enter a name for this group in the New Group field and press Save . For more information, refer to “Entering T ext” on page 19.
47 Renaming a Call er Gr oup 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ Groups . 2. Highlight the g roup that you want to rename. 3. Press Option s ➔ Rename . 4. Backspace over the origin al name and use the ke ypad to enter a new name for this group, then p ress Save .
Understanding Y our Addres s Book 48 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ SIM Mana geme nt ➔ Copy Contacts to SIM . 2. Highlight a member from the list or highlight All and press Check . 3. Press Copy . Import ant!: When copying from the Phone to the SIM card some information may be lost.
49 Deleting all entries fr om the SIM 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ SIM Management ➔ Delete Contacts from SIM . 2. Highlight a member from the list or hi ghlight All and press to create a chec kmark. 3. Press Delete . 4. At the prompt, press Ye s to delete the cont act, or No to cancel.

53 • Light Settings : allows you to adjust the Brightness and set the Backlight Time. Note: Light settings can affect the length of time before battery recharge is necessary. – Brightness : allows you to adjust th e display brightness for the LCD t o see it better in differen t lighting conditions.
Changing Y our Settings 54 Import ant!: Current time zones are based upon Greenwich Mean Time. 3. Use the Left or Right Navigation key to locate a time-zone. A corresponding area of the world map displays. 4. Highlight the Daylight saving checkbox and press if Daylight Saving time applies, then press OK .
55 Shor tcuts The Shortcuts op tion allows yo u to change the applicat ions assigned to your Navigation keys. 1. In Idle mode, select Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Shortcuts . 2. Use the Navigation ke ys to se lect the Up, Down, Right, or Left key .
Changing Y our Settings 56 Own Number The Own Number option displays the number assigned to the SIM card in your phone. Y ou can ch ange the number , but entering another num ber may prevent you from ma king or receiving ca lls on the handset. Y ou may also ad d other names a nd numbers into your phone for easy referral.
57 The followin g options are av ailable: – Off : the phone connects directly to the networ k when you switch it on. – On : you must ente r the PIN each time th e phone is switched on. Note: Before disabling the Check PIN Code feature, you must enter your PIN.
Changing Y our Settings 58 Change PIN Code This option allows you to change your cu rrent PIN, provi ded that the PIN Check fea ture is enabled. Y o u must enter the current PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you enter a new PIN, you are asked to conf irm it by entering it agai n.
59 Restore Phone The Restore Phone option is the same as the Re set Phone option described above in tha t all settings are reset to factor y defaul ts. However , with th e Restore Phone option, all user da ta deletes. Warning!: All User Data such as contacts, messages, pictures, videos, and music is deleted.

61 Bluetooth Activa tion T o use the Bluetooth option you m ust f irst activate it . When the Bluetooth is deactiva ted, you cannot send or receive informatio n via Bluetooth. T o save batt ery life or in situations where Bluetooth use is prohibited, you can tu rn off the Bluetooth wireless technology headset.
Changing Y our Settings 62 3. Enter the passke y (if applicable). If connecting to a Bluetooth wire less device, consult your Bluetooth device user manua l fo r your assigned PIN. If connecting to another handset, enter the same user -defined PIN on both handsets.
63 3. Enter the passkey . 4. Select a connection opti on and press the Pai r soft key . Configuring Y our Phone’s USB Settings This menu selects the method of communication for the USB port. Note: Disable the Bluetooth feature before initiating a USB connection with the phone.

65 IMS Settings IMS is the me thod used to connect to the server in order set up the Video Share op tion. 1. In Idle mode, select Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Connectivity ➔ IMS Settings . 2. Select one of the f ollowing options: •S e r v i c e allows you to set th e IMS service to On or Off .

If you select Prompt, the ph one will ask you to save the cookies on every page requiring cookies. • Preferences : allows you to run JavaScript, display im ages, play sound, or run Fla sh.
67 Calendar Setting s T o configure the starting day a nd view used when opening the Calendar application: 1. In Idle mode, select Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Applications Settings ➔ Calendar Settings .

69 TTY Settings TTY (also known as a TD D or T ext T elephone) is a telecommunica tions device that al lows people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who have sp eech or language disabilities, to communicate via a telephone. Th is phone comes TTY -ready and only requires t he insertion of the TTY device t o enable this feature.
Camera 70 Section 8: Camera This section explains ho w to use the camera on your phone. Y ou can take photographs and shoot video by using th e built-in camera function ality . Y our 2.0 megapi xel camera produces photos in JPEG format. Import ant!: Do not take photos of people without their permission.

AppCenter 80 MEdia Net Home The MEdia Net menu op tion allows you t o quickly access your MEdia Net homepage using the bui lt-in browser . This page gives you quick access to in formation such as local weather , sports scores, horoscope informa tion an d quick links to the previously mentioned shopping sites.
