4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start using your phone by activating your ser vice and setting up your voice mail. Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, a plug-in SIM card is provided loaded with your subscrip tion details, such as your PIN and other option al services.
Getting Started 5 Re mo ving the SIM Card T o remove the SIM ca rd, sl ide it away from sock et. See the following illustration. Inst alli ng the Bat ter y 1. Align the battery tabs with th e slots at the bottom of the phone. 2. Press the batter y down until it clicks into place.
6 1. Remove the pr otective cover fr om the port on the side of the phon e. 2. Plug the connector of the tra vel adaptor into the charger port. 3. Plug the adapto r into a sta ndard AC wall outlet. When charging is finished, unplug the adaptor from the power outlet.
Getting Started 7 Note: The display language is preset to Automatic at the factor y . T o change the language, use the Language menu. For more information, see “Language” on page 46. 4. When you wish to s witch off the phone, press and hold the key until the power-off image displ ays.

It also displays the screen and the icon s that are displayed when the phone is in use. F eatures of Y our Phone Y our phone is lightweight, ea sy-to-use and offers many significant features.
10 Key s The following list c orrelates to the open and front view illustrations. 1. Display : This screen displays useful inform a tion needed to operate your phone. 2. Soft key : Performs the functions indicated by the screen text on the bott om of the display .
Understanding Y our Phone 11 10. Power on/off/Menu Ex it key : Ends a call. Press and hold this key for a few seconds to po wer your phone On or Off. While in the m ain menu, it returns the phone to standby mode and cancels your i nput. When you receive an incoming call, press to reject call.
12 Backlight A backlight il luminates the display an d the keypad when you press any key or open the phone. I t turns off when no keys are pressed within a given period of time, or dims the light, depending on the settings in the Backlight menu. Inter nal Display Layout The display has 3 areas: Icons Shows the received signal strength.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functi ons that can be customized for your ease and specific needs. Thes e functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed usi ng the two soft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allow s you to vi ew and alter the settings of a particular function.
14 • In the Idle screen, press the Menu soft key to open the Menu screen. • When in a menu mode the right soft key function is Back . Clear K ey The CLR key is used to erase o r clear numbers, text, or symbols from the display . Y ou ca n also use to return to a previous menu or to return to standby mode from any menu.
Call Functions 15 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a c all. It also includes the features and functional ity associated with ma king or answering a ca ll. Making a Call When the Idle screen display s, enter the area code and phone number , and press the key .
16 4. Use the Up and Down navigation keys to scroll through the numbers until the numbe r you want highlights. 5. T o dial the number , highlight the number and press the key . Making a Call from t he Ad dress Book Y ou can store phone numbers tha t you use regularly on the SIM card or in the phone’s memory .
Call Functions 17 Recent Calls The phone stores the numbers of the c alls you’ve dialed, received, or missed in the Menu ➔ Recent Calls menu. If the number or caller i s listed in your Address Book, the name associated displays. Viewing Missed Calls The number of calls you have miss ed display s on the Idle screen when a call is misse d.
18 5. At the “ Are Y ou Su re ?” prompt, press the Ye s soft key to confirm the reset or No to cancel. 6. Enter your password. At the “ Confirm New P assword ”, re-enter the same pa ssword and press the OK soft key . Note: Y ou are only required to set the password 1 time.
Call Functions 19 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Speak er phone K ey During a call, use the spea kerphone key to activate t he speakerphone operat ion. Use the volu me key s (located on the left side of your phone) to adjust the volu me.
20 • Remove : allows you to remove any of the parties connected i n a multiparty call. • End Held Call : ends the call that is placed on hold. When you want to fini sh, end each call normally by pressing the key .
Call Functions 21 4. Press the Select soft key to make your select ion or the Back soft key to return to the co ntact information. For further details about the Addr ess Book fea ture, see “Finding an Address Book Entry” on page 35.
22 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the men u navigation fo r your phone. Menu Naviga tion Menus and sub-menus can be ac cessed by scrolling using the Navigati on keys or by using the shortcut keys. Accessing a M enu Function b y Scrolling 1.
Menu Navigation 23 Navigation K eys The Navigation Keys come pres et. T o change the Naviga tion Keys, follow these step s: 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Ph one ➔ Shortcuts . 2. Y ou can cha nge the Up , Down , Left and Right menu options by highlighting the op tion and pressing the Options soft key .
24 Section 5: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. This sec tion also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entr y system to reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
Entering T ext 25 When you are in a fiel d that allows charac ters to be entered, you will notice the text input mo de indicator on the display . 1. T o change the text inp u t mode, press the key . 2. Choose from th e following options: A long press of th e ke y toggles between ABC mode and T9 mode.

Messaging 31 • Vi ew : allows you to view the message. • Reply via : allows you to reply to this mess a ge via T ext Message or Multimedia Message. • Reply to Al l : allows you to reply to all the recipients for the selected message. • Call Back : allows you to call back the o riginator of the message.
32 • T o delete all of the messages in all folders, select All Messages . 4. Press the Delete soft key . 5. At the “ Delete? ” confirmation screen, press the Ye s soft key or the key to confirm deletion or press the No soft key to cancel deleti on.
Messaging 33 Using the Instant Messaging Options After selecting an Instant Messaging serv ice, the following options display: • New Account : allows you to log in to your Instant Messaging as a new account. • Settings : allows you to change your Settings.

Understanding Y our Address Book 35 Section 7: Understanding Y our Address Book This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address B ook. Address Book entries can be sorted by name, or entry . Using Contacts List Tip: From the Idle screen, press the Down Navigation key to access the Contact List.
36 – Copy to SIM Card/Phone : allows you to save a contact entry from your phone to your SIM C ard or to your Phone, depending on where the contact was origina lly saved. – Send Business Card : allows you to send a message to the selected entry which contains the infor mation from an Address Book Business Card entry which you have on file.

38 3. Press either the Dial soft key or the key to initia te the call. Speed Dial List Once you have stored phone num bers from your Address book list, you can set up to 8-speed di al entries and then dial them easily whenever yo u want, simply by pressing and holding the associated numeric key .

When you are finished, press th e key to ret urn to Idle mode. Reject List The Reject List option shows nu mbers that you have set to be rejected durin g an incoming call.
40 • Save New Contacts to : allows you to save conta cts to the Phone, SIM Card or Ask on Saving. • Vie w Co nt a c ts fr o m : allows you vie w the contacts st ored on All, Phone or SIM C ard. • Sort Contacts by : allows you to sort the contact lis t by First Name or the Last Name.
Understanding Y our Address Book 41 2. Highlight an Entry to copy to the Phone, then press the Check key . A check mark displays in the bo x to the left of the Contact name. Repeat this st ep for all Entries copied to the SIM. Or , check the All box to copy all entries.
42 Section 8: Changing Y our Settings This section explains the sound and phone settings for your phone. It includes dis p lay settings, se curity settings, and extra settings a ssociated with your phone. Sound Profiles Y ou can customize va rious sound profiles for your phone by changing the sound settings.
Changing Y our Settings 43 • Vibration then Melody : the phone vibra tes initial ly , but then plays the mel ody . – Voice Call Ringtone : allows you to select a ringtone from your My Stuff (Phone) folder which conta ins not only the default phone ringtones, but also any new ringtones which have bee n downloaded from the Internet.
44 Note: The Silent profile can also be activated by pressing and holding the key or by reducing the volume to 0. An onscreen message notifies you that the Silent profile is now active. T o deactiva te this profile, press and hold the key again or increase the volume using the volume key .

46 Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and date displayed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in another part of the world. Note: Before setting the time, you must specify your time zone in the World time menu. For more information, refer to “World T ime” on page 61.
Changing Y our Settings 47 Shor tc uts The Shortcuts option allo ws yo u to change the applications assigned to your Navigation keys. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Shortcuts and press the Select soft key o r the key . 2. Highlight a Navigation key and press the Options soft key .
48 The followin g options are av ailable: • Off : you are not required to enter the SIM lock code when you switch on the phone after replacing the SIM card. • On : you are required to enter the SIM loc k code when you switch on the phone after replacing the SIM card.
Changing Y our Settings 49 Change PIN code This feature allows you to change y o ur current PIN, provided that the Change PIN fea ture is enable d. Y ou must en ter the current PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you have entered a new PIN, you are asked to confirm it by entering it a gain.
50 T -Coil Mode This option allows for the use of hearing aids with a T -Coil setting in connection with the handset. When T -Coil Mode is activa ted, the icon displays on the Idle screen. T -Coil mo de can be se t to on or off . 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ T -Coil Mode and pre ss the Select soft key or the key .

54 2. Choose from the follo wing options: • Clear Caches : deletes th e informati on stored in t he cache. The cache stor es the most recently accessed pag es. • Empty Cookies : delete cookies. Cookies are pie ces of personal information sent to a web server while naviga ting the web.

58 Accessing the Photos F older 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ My Stuff ➔ Picture . 2. Use the Up or Down Navigation ke y to select the My Photos folder press the Select soft key or the key . Alar ms This feature allows you to set the alarm to ring at a specific time.

T ools 61 Stop watc h Y ou can use this menu to mea sure interv als of time for 30 separate times. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Stopwatch . 2. Press the key to start the stopwatch. Press the Stop soft key to stop the stopwatch.
