3 GENERAL SAFETY RULES n Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before plugging in. Carrying tools with your finger on the swi tch or pluggi ng in to ols tha t have the swit ch on invites accidents. n Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on.
4 SERVICE n Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel may result in a risk of injury. n When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual.
5 SYMBOLS Some of the following symbols may be used on this tool. Please study them and learn their meaning. Pr oper interpreta- tion of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer .
6 SYMBOLS SERVICE Servicing requires extreme care and knowledge and should be performed only by a qualified service technician. For service we suggest you return the product to your nearest AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER for r epair . When servic- ing, use only identical replacement parts.
7 EXTENSION CORDS When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a power source, be sure to use an extension cord that has the capacity to handle the current the tool will draw . An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in overheating and loss of power .

9 KNOW YOUR BEL T SANDER See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. SWITCH TRIGGER T o tur n the sander ON , depress the switch trigger . Release switch trigger to turn your sander OFF .
10 OPERA TION WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with tools to make you care- less. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict serious injury . WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating power tools.
11 OPERA TION V ARIABLE SPEED See Figure 2. The sander has a variable speed control dial, A (slow) to F (fast) , designed to allow operator control of belt speed. T o increase belt speed, turn the variable speed control dial to a higher setting. T urn to a lower setting to decrease belt speed.
12 OPERA TION TO INST ALL/CHANGE SANDING BEL T See Figures 5 - 6. n Unplug your sander . n Position sander as shown. WARNING: Keep hands and fingers clear of front roller and spring mechanism at all times. Failure to do so could result in them getting pinched, causing possible serious injury .
13 OPERA TION LOCKING ON THE SANDER See Figure 7. The lock-on feature allows you to lock the switch trigger in the ON position. Locking the switch trigger on allows you to operate the sander for extended periods of time.
14 OPERA TION TO ADJUST SANDING BEL T TRACKING See Figure 9. n Connect the sander to power supply . n With sander positioned as shown below , pull switch trig- ger and release immediately .
15 OPERA TION WARNING: T o prevent the possibility of sawdust or foreign objects being thrown into your face and eyes, never attempt to use the sander without dust bag pr operly installed. Sawdust or foreign objects being thrown into your face and eyes could result in possible serious injury .

17 TIMING BEL T REPLACEMENT See Figures 11 - 12. n Unplug the sander. WARNING: Failure to unplug the sander could result in accidental starting causing possible serious personal injury . n Remove dust bag. n Remove sanding belt from sander . Follow instructions on page 12 to remove sanding belt.
