W ARNING: Before beginning this or any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 or persons with pre-existing health prob- lems.
3 B EFORE Y OU B EGIN Congratulations for selecting the new REEBOK ® RT 445 exercise cycle. Cycling is one of the most effec- tiv e exercises for increasing cardiovascular fitness, bui ldin g endurance, and toning the entire body .
4 Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Assembly requires the included tools and your own adjustable wrench . P ART CHART Use the part drawings below to identify the small parts used in assembly .
5 1. Attach the Front Stabilizer (2) to the Frame (1) with two M8 x 25mm Button Screws (19) and two M8 Split W ashers (28). 2. Attach the Rear Stabilizer (3) to the Frame (1) with two M8 x 25mm Button Screws (19) and two M8 Split W ashers (28).
6 4. While another person holds the Handlebar (7) near the Handlebar Post (6), feed the Upper Wire Harness (16) and the Pulse Sensor Wires (71) up through the indicated hole in the Handlebar . Attach the Handlebar to the Handlebar Post with three M8 x 25mm Button Screws (19) and three M8 Split W ashers (28).

Identify the Left Pedal (40); the threaded shaft on each Pedal is marked with an “L” for “left” or an “R” for “right.” Using an adjustable wrench, firmly tight- en the Left Pedal counterclockwise into the Left Crank Arm (34). T ighten the Right Pedal (not shown) clockwise into the Right Crank Arm (not shown).
8 HOW TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE SEA T For effective exercise, the seat should be at the proper height. As you pedal, there should be a slight bend in your knees when the pedals are in the lowest position. T o adjust the seat, first turn the seat knob counter- clockwise several turns to loosen it.
9 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more enjoyable and effective. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the resistance of the pedals can be changed with the touch of a button.
10 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Begin pedaling to activate the console. The exercise cycle requires no batteries or external power source. Power is supplied to the exercise cycle by a generator while you are pedaling. T o activate the console, begin pedaling at a speed of about 3 miles per hour or faster .
11 Note: The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilo- meters. T o find which unit of mea- surement is select- ed, you must select the console’s user mode.
12 HOW TO USE PERSONAL TRAINER PROGRAMS Begin pedaling to activate the console. See step 1 on page 10. Select one of the six personal trainer programs.
13 Monitor your progress with the two displays. See step 4 on page 10. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 5 on page 1 1. T urn on the fan if desired. See step 6 on page 1 1. When the program is finished, the console will automatically turn off.
14 Hold the handgrip pulse sensor or wear the optional chest pulse sensor . T o use a heart rate program, you must hold the handgrip pulse sensor or wear the optional chest pulse sensor . If you use the handgrip pulse sen- sor , it is not necessary to hold the handgrips con- tinuously during the program.
15 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CD PLA YER, VCR, OR COMPUTER T o use iFIT .com CD’ s , the exercise cycle must be connected to your portable CD player , portable stereo, home stereo, or computer with CD player . See pages 15 and 16 for connecting instructions.
16 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO Note: If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the LINE OUT jack is being used, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of the audio cable into the jack beneath the console. Plug the other end of the cable into the adapter .
17 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VCR Note: If your VCR has an unused AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the AUDIO OUT jack is being used, see instruction B. If you have a TV with a built-in VCR, see instruction B. If your VCR is connected to your home stereo, see HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO on page 16.
18 T o use iFIT .com CD’s or videocassettes, the exercise cycle must be connected to your portable CD player , portable stereo, home stereo, computer with CD play- er , or VCR. See HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CD PLA YER, VCR, OR COMPUTER on page 15. T o pur- chase iFIT .
19 HOW TO USE PROGRAMS DIRECTL Y FROM OUR WEB SITE Our Web site at www .iFIT .com allows you to play iFIT .com audio and video programs directly from the internet. T o use programs from our Web site, the exer- cise cycle must be connected to your home computer .
20 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly . The exercise cycle can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. T o prevent damage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight. TIGHTENING THE PEDALS For best performance, regularly tighten both pedals.
21 E XERCISE G UIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
