7 CONNECTING THE AC ADAPTER Cautio n: You must us e a Class II AC adapter that suppl ies 9 volts of power, deli ve rs a t lea st 30 0 m illi amp s, and has a p lug that properly fits the T AD’s 9V DC jack with its center tip set to ne g- ative. The sup plied adapt er meet s these spec ifications.

9 SETTI NG THE MAILBOX SECURITY CODES To a cce ss e ach m ailbox, yo u must e n- ter a 2-digit mailbox security code. The security codes for Mai lboxes 1 , 2, 3, and 4 are p rese t to 01, 02, 03, and 04, re s pe cti ve ly . Follow these steps to c hange a mail- box securit y co de.
10 SETTI NG T HE NUMB ER OF RING S The TAD is preset to soun d 4 rings be- for e it a ns w er s th e fi rs t c all . F oll ow these st eps to change the number of rings (from 1-9).

When t he mem ory be- comes full and the TAD ca n no longer record mess ages, the T AD annou nces “The memory is fu ll.” Follow these steps if you want to record your own m emory fu ll an- nouncement .

14 • I f the T A D an swers when t he memory is f ull, it plays the m em- ory full announcement and beeps, waits 7 seconds f or any remote operation command s (see “Using Remote Operat ion Commands ”), then han gs up.
15 USING THE ANNOUNCEMENT -ONL Y FEA TURE With the ann ouncem ent-only featu re turned on, you can le ave an initial phone an swe ring mess age an d a menu of fi ve additional m essages for callers to hear. Callers cannot leave messag es, b ut the y ca n select t he a n- nouncement s they want to hear.

22 PR OBLEM-SO L VIN G We do not expect you to hav e any problems with your TAD, but if you do, try these suggest ions. If th e TA D s till does n’t oper at e as y ou thi nk it sho uld, ta ke the TA D t o your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
23 Problem Cause Rem edy The TAD does not respond to remote command s. You e ntered an incorrect remote security code. Carefully re-enter your remote securi ty code. If the T AD fails to respond, the secu- rity code m ight have reset t o the default code.
24 RESETTI NG T HE T AD If the TAD hangs up for an unknown reason, you m ight ne ed to reset it. Imp ort an t: Resetting the TAD de letes all recorded m essages (including a ny outgoing announc ement s), date and time settings, numbe r of rings, mes- sage lengt h, and al l mailbox and re- mote operation codes.
