5 INSTALLATION CHOOSING A LOCATIO N You can u se yo ur telep hone as a d esk phone, mou nt it o n a standa rd wall plate, or mount it direc tly on a wall.
6 If you hav e two separat e one- line modular jacks, plug on e end of the supplie d two- line l ong modular cord into L1 or L1/L2 and plug the sup - plied one -line lo ng modu lar cor d into L2 . 3. Insert the suppli ed AC adapt er ’s barrel p lug into the DC 9V jack on the back of the phon e.
7 7. Plug the AC adapter into a standar d AC outlet. On a W all-Plate 1. Rem ove the brack et by pressi ng and hold ing i n the tab on th e right side of the br acket, then gentl y pull- ing the br acket a way from the base.
8 5. Plug the othe r end of t he two- line short mo dular co rd in to the wall plate jac k. If you attache d a long modular cord, plug i t into th e wall jack. A lign the wall plate studs wi th the phone's k eyhole sl ots and slide the phone d ownward to secu re it.

11 DISABLING LINE 2 Should yo u ever nee d to disable Line 2, leave the h andset in the crad le and press HOLD , LINE 2 , then . To enable the Line 2 in dic at or , lea ve the handset i n the cr adle and pre ss HOLD , LINE 2 , then # . SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set T/P (Tone/Pu lse) o n the bac k of the phone for th e type of se rvice you have.
12 BASIC OPERATION To make a call , pick up t he ha ndset a nd sele ct a lin e by p ressi ng LINE 1 or LINE 2. When y ou hear the di al tone, dial the number. Notes : • The p hone au tomatic ally s elects the free li ne if you do not press LIN E 1 or LINE 2 .
13 Switching Be tween the Handset and the Speakerphone To switch from the handset t o the speaker phone a t any ti me during a call, press HEADSET/SPEAKER so its red in - dicator lights, then r esume the conv er- satio n. To switch from the speake rphone to the handset, j ust lift the handset and resu me your con versat ion.
14 USING PRIVACY If you do n ot want the p erson on the oth- er end of the phone l ine to hear your conver satio n with so meone els e at your loca tion, pre ss PRIV ACY . The P RIVAC Y indicato r lights and the micro phone turns off, but yo u can st ill hea r the call - ing party .

16 SPECIAL FEATU RES USING MEMORY DIALING Y ou can stor e up to 20 nu mbers i n the speaker phone’s memo ry and dial a stored num ber a t th e p re ss o f a few but - tons.

18 Using the Phone Number Index Card Slide the phone’s nam e and num ber in- dex card and plas tic cover out of its slot and remov e it. Use the phone numbe r index car d on the base to ke ep track of numbers stored in the memo ry loca - tions or to record im portant phone num- bers.
