The phone lets you make and receive calls on two sep- arate telephone lin es.

10 A Quick Look At Your Telephone ˆ A Quick Look At Y our T elephone ˆ Installation MOUNTING THE PHONE You can place the phone’s base on a desk or table, o r mount it on a standard wall plate or dire ct ly on a wall.

12 Installation T o connect the phone to a single one-line phone jack, p lug one e nd of the supplied long modular cord into TEL LINE 1/2 or TEL LINE 2 . Note: If you connect t he phone to a single one-line phone jack, avoid pressing the unused line button or you might hear fee dback.

14 Installation • About once a month, fully discharge the battery pack by keeping the handset of f the base until the line indicators f lash. Oth erwise, the bat- tery pack loses its ability to fully recharge.
15 Basic Operation SETTING THE NUMBER OF RINGS Set RING TIME on the back of the base to 3 , 5 , or TS (toll-saver) to select how long the ph one waits to answ er a call (3 rings, 5 rings, or toll-saver). Notes: • If you plan t o check messages by long distance, set RING TIME to TS (see “Using the T oll-Saver” on Page 26).
16 Basic Operation Note: If the LINE 1 or LINE 2 indicator flashes, someone is using that line at the base or on an extension pho ne. Press the oth er line button . To end a call, press LINE 1 or LINE 2 on the handse t or place t he handset on the base.
17 Basic Operation USING HOLD Press HOLD to place a call on hold. The indicator for that line lights red on the base. While a call is on hold, you can temporarily p lace the handset on th e base or use the ot her phone line without disconnecting the current call.
18 Basic Operation 4. T o end the conference call, press one line butt on, then the other . If you want to hang up one line and con - tinue talking o n the other , press the line button you want to hang up. 5. If you want to talk on one line with- out disconnecting th e other , press HOLD , then the bu tton for the line you want to ta lk o n.
19 Basic Operation For example, if you have Call Waiting, press FLASH to answer an inco ming call without disconne cting the current call. Press FLASH again to re turn to the first call. Note: If you do not have any special ser- vices, pressing FLASH might disconnect the current call.

22 TAD Operation ˆ T AD Operation SELECTING THE OUTGOING MESSAGE The phone has two prer ecorded outgo- ing messages . One asks the caller to leave a message: “Hello , no one is avail- able to take your call.
23 TAD Operation ANN (announcement only) — The p hone plays the outg oing message but does not let callers leave a message. SETTING THE PHONE TO ANSWER CALLS To set the phone to answer calls, re- peatedly press MSG LINE SELECT unt il the line indicato r for the desired line lights in the me ssage counter window, then press ANSWER .
24 TAD Operation RECORDING A MEMO A memo is a message you can record at the phone for yourself o r others in your home or off ice. The phon e stores mem- os as incomi ng me ssage s on the s elect- ed line (see “Playing M essages”).

28 Troubleshooting ˆ T roubleshooting We do not expect you to have an y problems with your p hone, but if you do, the follo w- ing suggestions might he lp. Problem Suggest ion The phone does not work or works poorly . • Be sure the base’s phone line cord and AC adapter are correctly and securely connected.
29 Care If the base loses pow er while the handset is off of it, the security ac cess-protect ion code might change. Rest ore power to th e base, then place th e handset back on th e base and leave it there fo r a few seconds. If you still have problems, disconnect the phone.
30 Care Modifying or tamper ing with the tele- phone’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC authori za- tion to operat e it. If your teleph one is not performing as it should, take it to your lo- cal RadioShack store for assistance.
