6 Features ˆ Features Your RadioShack 4-Line System wi th Caller ID and Headset Jack is a complete four-line telephone system th at shows the caller's telephone numb er (and name, if avail able in your area) and the date and time of each call, as provided by your local telephon e company to Caller ID service subscribers.
7 Installation ˆ Installation To fully use the phone's features with all 4 lines, you must connect it to four separate telephone lines, each with its own telephon e number. However, you can choose to con- nect the phone to only one, two, or thre e telephone l ines.
8 Installation 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remo ve the screw from the battery compartment cover , then remove the cover by press- ing the cover's tab and lifting the cover off. 2. Install thre e AAA ba tter ies (n ot su ppli ed) as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside th e battery com- partment.
9 Installation 4. Insert th e tabs o n the narrow end of the mounting bracket into the upper slots near the center of the base, push the wide end of the bracket until it clicks into place, then place the phone on the desk.
10 Installation T o mount the phone d irectly on a wall , with the power cord and the modular cords hanging over the bracket, alig n the phone's keyhole slots with the screws and slide th e phone downward to secure it, then plug th e ends of the modular cords into the modul ar phone line jack(s) for Line 1 through 4.
11 Preparation ˆ Preparation SETTING EXTENSION NUMBERS When you connect mo re than one phone, you must also set a different extension num- ber for each station so yo u can use the pag- ing and intercom features. Follow these steps to set the exte nsion num- ber for each phone station.
12 Preparation Notes: • Y ou must enter two digits for the month, date, hour , and minute. • The clock uses the 12 -hour format. Follow these steps to se t the time a nd date. 1. Press CLOCK/FORW ARD . SET DATE/ TIME 00:00 6 00:00 AM appears. 2. Enter the desired values.
13 Preparation RESETTING THE PHONE Follow these steps to clear th e stored infor- mation in the phone. 1. Press PROGRAM . M EMORY appears. 2. Press ∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ # ∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ # . 3. Press PRIV ACY to store the setting. The phone rings. Note: The first phon e you connect to Line 1 is automatically set to Extension 11.
14 Telephone Operation ˆ T e lephone Operation LINE STATUS Each line’s button has a status indicator. Note: The indicator’s flashing duration when the line is in u se is longer than the fl ashing duration for an incoming cal l.
15 Telephone Operation SWITCHING BETWEEN THE HANDSET AND THE SPEAKERPHONE To switch from the handset to the speaker- phone during a call, p ress SPKR PHONE . The SPKR PHONE indicator lights. Then place the handset on the b ase. To switch from the speakerph one to the handset, just lift the handset and resume your conversation.
16 Telephone Operation Notes: • Be sure to cancel auto redial if you leav e the area of your telephone. Othe rwise, your phone will hang up 30 secon ds after the called perso n answers, then will redial again 30 seconds later, up to ten times.
17 Telephone Operation Note: After the timer reaches 59 minutes, 59 seconds, it starts counting again from 0 minutes, 0 seconds unless you stop it. To stop the timer, press TIMER/BACKW ARD again. The display automatically returns to the cur- rent time display within 6 se conds after you stop the timer or hang up the phone.
18 Telephone Operation Notes: • If you call a station that is using DND, you hear a busy sig nal. • If you are using DND when an intercom call comes in, the intercom indicator blinks rapidly and th e caller's number appears on the display . If you choose to answer the call, pre ss INTERCOM .
19 Telephone Operation Clearing Memory Numbers To clear a number stored in an upper memo- ry position, press PROGRAM th en the desired memory location button. To clear a number stored in a lo wer memory position, press PROGRAM , LOWER then th e desired memory location button.
20 Intercom and Paging Operation 5. When you finish the conversation, press SPKR PHONE to hang up. Be sure to replace the h eadset jack's rubber cover when you finish using a headset. Note: Connecting a he adset disconn ects the handset's earpiece and mi crophone.
21 Intercom and Paging Operation 3. When the person answers, talk into th e speakerphone or handset. 4. T o end an intercom call, press SPKR PHONE or hang up the handset.
22 Caller ID Operation T RANSFERRING A CALL If a caller asks to speak to someone at an- other extension, yo u can transfer the call us- ing either th e in tercom or pagi ng fu nct ion. 1. Press HOLD to place the call on ho ld. 2. Press INTERCOM (or PA G E ).
23 Caller ID Operation REVIEWING CALLER ID RECORDS Each time you receive a call, your phone stores a Caller ID record that you can revie w later. A Caller ID reco rd includes: • call number (in the .
24 Caller ID Operation 1. Press LOWER , then repeatedly press TIMER/BACKW ARD or CLOCK /FOR- WA R D unti l the record you want to delete appears. 2. Press DND/DELETE . Deleted? appears. Press DND/DELETE a gain. The phone rings once and Deleted appears.
