8 EN Applications The KW Series has been primarily designed for por table audio reinforcement. This includes a variety of uses in reinforcement for enter tainers and presenters. The KW1 22, K W1 52 and K W1 53 are all designed to perform well on their o wn in full-range audio.
9 EN Installation Before placing, installing, rigging, or suspending any speaker product, inspect all hardware, suspension, cabinets, transducers, brackets and associated equipment for damage. Any missing, corroded, deformed, or non-load rated component could significantly reduce the strength of the installation or placement.
1 0 EN Integrated Suspension Points (suspended installations) WARNI NG! When suspending the loudspeakers, installation must be accomplished by or under the supervision of a licensed installation professional. All applicable building codes must be followed.
1 1 EN If the rear POWE R LE D does not illuminate when the POW E R switch is placed in the ON position during the first 5 minutes of power being applied, verify the AC mains power cord is properly attached to the loudspeaker and plugged into the AC source outlet.
1 2 EN Channel A Channel A accepts either microphone or line level inputs. The M IC/LI N E I N A inputs can use either a: • Male XLR connector, or a • Male 1 / 4" phone jack (T S or TR S type). The KW1 22, K W1 52, and K W1 53 feature a 4-position rotary switch (M I C/LIN E G AIN) to provide input gain fle xibility.
1 3 EN Unbalanced Inputs Connect to the plug as shown. If a 3 conductor (TR S) plug is used to connect an unbalanced source, Pin 3 and pin 1 must be connected with a jumper as shown.
1 4 EN Output Connections KW1 22, KW1 52, KW1 53 Both Channel A and Channel B have discrete, direct outputs on female XLR connectors. The signal on this output is ex actly equivalent to the signal from the corresponding input. The level of the output signal is not affected by the gain setting for that channel.
1 5 EN KW1 8 1 Both Channel A and Channel B have discrete, direct outputs on female XLR connectors. The signal on this output is ex actly equivalent to the signal from the corresponding input. The level of the output signal is not affected by the gain set on the subwoofer gain knob.
1 6 EN DS P Features The KW Series features advanced D SP (digital signal processing) circuitr y that per forms many functions. Some functions are set at the design/ production level and are not user accessible. These functions include crossovers, time alignment, limiting and protection, thermal management and a number of proprietary features.
1 7 EN High-frequenc y EQ On the KW1 22, K W1 52 and K W1 53 there are two high-frequency settings. From the factor y, the switch is set to FL A T . This means that the loudspeaker system is producing a flat response through the vocal band. This is the standard setting for most applications.
1 8 EN Additional Features Standby All KW Series models are equipped with an automatic standby feature to conser ve energ y when the systems are not in use. If no signal is present on any input, or the gain knob is turned to off for five minutes, the power amplifier goes into standby and the green STBY LED illuminates.
1 9 EN Remote Gain Attenuator A 3-pin “Euro” connector is provided to attenuate the volume of the KW Series loudspeaker or put the system into standby from a remote location. The Remote Gain connector can only attenuate the output signal level below the le vel set by the Channel A and Channel B Gain knobs.
