4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the new PROFORM ® 585 CSE e lliptical exerciser . The 585 CSE elliptical exerciser provides a wide array of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the elliptical exerciser .
5 ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the elliptical exerciser , call 1-800-445-2480. A ssembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical exerciser in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
6 1. A ttach a Wheel (8) to one side of the Frame (1) with an M10 x 35mm Shoulder Screw (57). Attach the other Wheel (not shown) in the same way . 2. Apply a generous amount of the included grease to the Pivot Axle (41). Then, insert the Pivot Axle through the Frame (1).
7 4 1 6 73 83 86 74 4. Orient the W ater Bottle Holder (6) as shown. Hold the W ater Bottle Holder near the Frame (1) and insert the Wire Harness (73) and the Right and Left Extension Wires (83, 86) upward through the W ater Bottle Holder . Next, slide the W ater Bottle Holder (6) onto the Frame (1).

IMPORT ANT : If the ellipti- cal exerciser has been exposed to cold tem- peratures, allow it to warm to room tempera- ture before inserting batteries into the Console.

12 HOW T O USE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER HOW TO MOVE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER Due to the size and weight of the elliptical exerciser , moving it requires two persons. Stand in front of the elliptical exerciser , hold the upright, and place one foot against one of the front wheels.
13 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The revolutionary console offers an array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you use the manual mode of the console, you can change the resistance of the pedals with the touch of a button.
14 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face o f the console, remove the plastic. 1 . Begin pedaling or press any button on the con- sole to turn on the console. A moment after you begin pedaling or press a but- ton, the display will light.
15 5. Measure your heart rate if desired. If there are sheets o f clear plastic on the metal con- t acts on the hand- grip pulse sensor , remove the plas- tic. T o measure your heart rate, hold the handgrip pulse sensor with your palms resting against the metal contacts.
16 As you exercise, you will be prompt- ed to keep your p edaling pace near the target rpm set- t ing for the current segment. When an upward arrow appears in the display , increase your pace. When a downward arrow appears in the display , decrease your pace.
17 HOW TO USE A SMART PROGRAM 1. Begin pedaling or press any button on the con- s ole to turn on the console. A moment after you begin pedaling or press a but- ton, the display will light.
18 HOW TO USE A HEART RA TE PROGRAM 1. Begin pedaling to turn on the console. A moment after you turn on the console, the dis- p lay will light. 2. Select a heart rate program. T o select one of the two heart rate programs, press the Certified Personal T rainer Programs but- ton repeatedly until Heart Rate 1 or 2 appears in the display .
19 HOW TO PLA Y THE F A T BLOCKER GAME The Fat Blocker game requires quick thinking and fast r eflexes. In addition to the console buttons, you will use the four-button game controllers on the handlebar t o play the game. Follow the steps below to play the Fat Blocker game.
20 HOW TO PLA Y THE CALORIE DESTROYER GAME The Calorie Destroyer game is a fast-paced game that p its you against a squadron of laser-firing drones. In addition to the console buttons, you will use the four- b utton game controllers on the handlebar to play the game.
21 HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM T o play your own music or audio books through the consoleʼs sound system while you exercise, first locate the jack under the ledge on the console. Plug an audio cable (not included) into the jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player or CD player; m ake sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in.

T o clean the elliptical exerciser , use a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. IMPORT ANT : T o avoid d amage to the console, keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight.
