To prevent a loss of NIC configuration information, do not change the NIC settings while this message di splays.

Configuration Alternatives 39 Configuration Alte rnatives Besides the HTML forms an d softwar e provided , the NIC inte rnal command s hell, np sh, ca n also be reached us ing Tel net, Remote Shell, an d FTP: Te l n e t A TCP/IP c ommand that helps confi gure NIC sett ings re motely.

A TCP/IP h ost uses FTP to stor e a file containi ng 1 or mo re NPSH commands on th e FTP file s ystem. The configur ation fil e must be FTP ‘pu t’ to the /c onfig/ default/de faultCfg fil e.
41 3 NIC W eb Server Overview The NIC co mes with a printer m anagement t ool that al lows you to monitor, configur e, and man age both the prin ter and i ts print job. The NIC comes wi th a web s erver that allows S ystem Adminis trators an d users ac cess to its printe r managem ent capabili ties from a standar d web brow ser.
Chapter 3 Configuration 42 Configura tion The Confi guratio n menu item s all ow you to configur e the setti ngs for the fo llowing i tems: • Network - this me nu item al lows you to ch ange the net work setting f or each p rotocol : TCP/IP, Wirele ss, and N etBIOS o ver TCP/IP.
TCP/IP Network 43 Network Configura t ion The networ k configu ration allows you to spec ify the set ting for eac h network p rotocol. Be side eac h protocol name is a checkbox which allows you to enabl e or disab le each p rotocol dep ending on your network pri nting nee ds.
