9 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov erinfl ated at the f actor y f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

12 OPERA TION 02774 NO TE: Under cer tain conditions when tractor is standing idle with the engine running, hot engine exhaust gases ma y cause “bro wning” of gr ass. T o eliminate this possibility , alwa ys stop engine when stopping tractor on grass areas .
13 OPERA TION 0277 5 LO W POSITION T O OPERA TE MO WER (See Fig. 10) Y our tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing s witch. Any attempt by the operator to lea v e the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine.
14 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig. 8) When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mo ve fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure freewheel control is in the transmission en gaged position.
15 OPERA TION MO WING TIPS • Mow er should be proper ly lev eled for best mowing per- f or mance. See “T O LEVEL MO WER HOUSING” in the Ser vice and Adjustments section of this manual. • The left hand side of mower should be used f or trim- ming.

17 MAINTENANCE TRA CT OR Alwa ys observe saf ety rules when performing any main- te nance. BRAKE OPERA TION If tractor requires more than six (6) f eet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear , then brak e must be adjusted. (See “T O ADJUST BRAKE” in the Ser vice and Ad just ments section of this manual).
18 0 2 4 63 MAINTENANCE CLEAN AIR SCREEN Air screen must be k ept free of dir t and chaff to prev ent engine dam age from overheating. Clean with a wire brush or compressed air to re mov e dir t and stubborn dr ied gum fi bers . TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
19 MAINTENANCE IN-LINE FUEL FIL TER (See Fig. 17) The fuel fi lter should be re placed once each season. If fuel fi l ter becomes clogged, ob struct ing fuel fl ow to car bu re tor , re place ment is re quired. • With engine cool, remov e fi lter and plug fuel line sec- tions.
