5 ASSEMBL Y • Grasp handle assemb ly . Hold in “up” position. Be sure handle lock remains in gearcase notch. Slide handle assembly into position. 8 OPERA TION TILLING (See Fig. 11) • Release depth stak e pin. Pull the depth stake up f or increased tilling depth. Place depth stake pin in hole of depth stake to loc k in position. • Place shift le ver indicator in tilling position. • Hold the driv e control bar against the handle to star t tilling mov ement.
9 OPERA TION TURNING • Release the drive control bar . • Mov e throttle control to “SLO W” position. • Place shift le ver indicator in “F” (f orward) position.
10 RUN CHOKE OPERA TION • Soil conditions are impor tant for proper tilling. Tines will not readily penetrate dry , hard soil which may con tr ib ute to e xcessiv e bounce and diffi cult handling of your tiller . Hard soil should be mois tened before tilling; how e v er , e xtremely wet soil will “ball-up” or clump dur ing tilling.
11 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co v er items that hav e been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receive full v alue from the warranty , the operator must main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.

14 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS CA UTION: Disconnect spark plug wire fr om spark plug and place wire where it cannot come into contact with plug. TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 20) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions .

18 ST ORA GE ENGINE OIL Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace with clean oil. (See “ENGINE” in the Maintenance section of this man ual). CYLINDER(S) • Remov e spark plug. • P our 1 ounce (29 ml) of oil through spar k plug hole into cylinder .
19 Will not star t 1. Out of fuel. 1. Fill fuel tank. 2. Engine not “CHOKED” properly . 2. See “T O ST AR T ENGINE” in Operation section. 3. Engine fl ooded. 3. Wait se veral minutes bef ore attempting to star t. 4. Dir ty air cleaner . 4. Clean or replace air cleaner car tridge.
