6 ASSEMBL Y / PRE-OPERA TION INST ALL A UGER CONTROL R OD (See Figs. 5 and 6) The auger control rod has the shor t loop on the end of the spring as shown. 1. Slide rubber slee ve up rod and hook end of spring into control ar m with loop opening up as sho wn.
7 ASSEMBL Y / PRE-OPERA TION CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your sno w thrower were o verinfl ated at the f ac- tor y f or shipping pur poses . Correct and equal tire pres sure is impor tant f or best snow throwing perf or mance . • Reduce tire pressure to 14–17 PSI.

9 OPERA TION Choke control - used f or star ting a cold engine. T raction drive control lever - used to engage power-pro- pelled f or ward or re verse motion of sno w thrower . A ug er contr ol lever - used to engage auger motion (throw snow). Discharge chute contr ol lever - used to change the di- rec tion the snow is thrown.
10 The operation of any sno w thrower can result in f oreign objects thrown into the ey es, which can result in se vere e ye damage. Alwa ys wear saf ety glasses or eye shields while oper ating your sno w thrower or perf or ming an y ad just - ments or repairs.
11 OPERA TION T O THRO W SNO W (See Fig. 14) The auger rotation is controlled by the auger control le ver located on the right side handle. • Squeeze auger control le ver to handle to engage the auger and throw sno w . • Release the auger control le ver to stop thro wing snow .
12 T O ADJUST SKID PLA TES (See Fig. 18) NO TE: The wrench provided in y our par ts bag may be used to adjust the skid plates. Skid plates are located on each side of the auger housing and adjust the clearance between the scr aper bar and the ground surf ace.
13 OPERA TION T O ST ART ENGINE • Be sure fuel shut-off v alve is in the OPEN position. Y our snow throw er engine is equipped with both a 120 V olt A.C . electric star ter and a recoil star ter . The electric star ter is equipped with a three-wire power cord and plug and is designed to operate on 120 V olt A.
14 IF RECOIL ST ARTER HAS FR OZEN If the recoil star ter has frozen and will not turn the engine, proceed as f ollows: 1. Grasp the recoil star ter handle and slowly pull as much rope out of the star ter as possib le. 2. Release the recoil star ter handle and let it snap back against the star ter .

16 IMPELLER SHEAR BOL TS The impeller is secured to the impeller shaft with two (2) capscrew/shear bolts and he x nuts . Should a foreign object or ice become lodged in the impeller , the capscrews are de signed to break, pre venting damage to any other com- po nents.
