4 LEDs on the front are: A green power LED A bicolor Ready/Fault LED is lighted green to indicate ready , lighted yellow to a faulted condition, and off indicates not ready . Fibre Channel port s: bicolor LED indicates FC speed. If it is off, speed is 1-Gb.

If you have set up at least one Virtual T ape Library (refer to Configure Virtual Tape on page 9.
16 Health and S t atus Monitor p age The Health and S tatus Monitor provides information about RAID group status, FastS tream VT environmental st atus, Ethernet and Fibre Channel interface states, and drive status, including links to diagnostics and more detailed information.

Y ou may se t up the FastS tream to send notifications when certain event s occur using the Error Notification page of the ExpressNA V VTL Manager .

21 A TTO T echnology Inc. FastS tream SC Installation and Operation Manual 6.2 Drive Diagnostics Y ou may determine the performance of drives attached to the FastS tream using the ExpressNA V VTL Manager . The following instructions assume you have already set up at least one RAID group.
22 Read only drive test The read only test performs a non-destructive scan over the entire surface of each drive to identify bad areas of the disk drives and determine read performance. It may be run while data is p assing through the FastS t ream. Running this test may negatively impact performance.

The ExpressNA V VTL manager takes you step by step through many procedures which allow you to modify your storage and VTL.
28 Secure dat a through W rite Protection For added security , write protection can be enabled for any tape cartridge with a VTL. When write protection is enabled, existing data on the t ape cartridge cannot be overwritten or erased. The data can be sorted by any field by clicking the label for the field.

34 Using the serial port T o connect to a terminal emulation program or T el net to manage the FastS tream VT , use the serial port. 1 Connect a cable from FastStream VT RS-232 serial port or header to the serial (C OM) port on a personal comp uter. 2 Turn on th e FastStre am VT.

iv RAID Level 0: stripi ng, no redundancy RAID Level 0 (striping) increases performance by simultaneously accessing data across multiple drives by overlapping drive seeks. The process increases data transfer rates. Drives are accessed alternately , as if stacked one on top of the other .
