1 Thank you for choosing SoundPoint ® IP 600 SIP , a full-duplex, handsfree tele- phone running the industry standard Ses- sion Initiation Protocol (SIP). This unit provides b usiness telephony features and functions such as Multiple Call Appear - ances, Call Hold, T ransfer , and Confer- ence ov er an IP network.
2 Installing SoundPoint ® IP 600 SIP This section provides basic installation instructions and information for obtaining the best performance with the SoundPoint IP ® 600 SIP telephone. If you require additional information or assistance with your new telephone, please contact your System Administrator .
3 Connecting the Handset and Optional Headset Attaching the Base 1. Place all cords in the recessed area abov e the modular jacks as shown. (Optional) 1. Connect the short, straight end of the telephone cord to the handset and the corresponding longer straight end of the cord to the handset jack on the back of the telephone.
4 Features Line/Speed Dial Keys Use these keys to activate up to six lines or speed dials that can be assigned to your telephone. Speakerphone Microphone Mute Headset Feature Keys Access important features using these keys. Dial Pad These 12 keys provide the 10 digits, alphabetic, and special characters available in context sensitive applications.

10 Headset Memor y Mode As an option, the headset can be permanent- ly enabled to place and receiv e calls from any audio ke ys on the telephone - especially useful for regular headset users.

12 Speed Dial Pre-assigned numbers can be associated with line keys for rapid automated dialing. Speed Dial entries are consecutiv ely placed next to assigned line ke ys on the telephone.
13 Multiple Lines SoundPoint ® IP 600 SIP can support up to six lines, each associated with its own line k ey . Lines can be congured for local Directory Numbers (DNs), such as your main extension and priv ate or shared lines or for Speed Dial shortcuts for outbound dialing.
14 Shared Lines The telephone supports shared lines ** . A shared line is indicated by a different line icon. In the diagram, the rst line is priv ate and the second line is shared. If two telephones share a line, an incoming call to that number will cause both telephones to ring.

16 Presence / Status / Buddy Lists The telephone combines interactiv e message services and status monitoring to comple- ment a traditional messaging application such as email. Liv e interaction within a pool of telephones is possible by monitoring the “presence” of the parties in volv ed.
17 Instant Messaging See V oicemail and V oice and T ext Messaging . Multilingual Suppor t (Localization) Many languages and call progress tones are supported by the telephone.
18 No Dial-T one V erify power is correctly applied to the SoundPoint IP 600 SIP telephone: • Check that the display is illuminated. • Make sure the LAN cable is inserted properly at the rear of the telephone (try unplugging and re-inserting the cable).
19 No Response from F eature K ey Pr esses V erify telephone is in activ e state: • Make a call to the telephone to check for inbound call display and ring- ing as normal. If successful, try to press feature keys within the call to access Directory or Buddy Status for example.
