7 1. Us ing M ED IAG ATE T 1 as a Mu lt ime di a Pl ay er 1.1 Connect to External A V Device 1.1.1 Connect Video Cable MEDIAGATE T1 supports 3 typ es of video output; “Composi te, S-video, and Co mponent”. Use the video co nnection that your TV supports.
8 1.1.2 Connect Audio Cable MEDIAGATE T1 su pports 3 types of a udio outp ut; Stereo, Coaxi al, and Optical. Us e the audio connectio n that your TV or Audio set s upports. Normally , your TV will support a s tereo audi o connection. This package co ntains a stere o audio cable.
9 1.2 Basic Setup 1.2.1 Video Setup IMPORTAN T! The MEDIA GATE T1 video o utput mode an d TV set input mode mu st be on the same setting. ü If you cannot see a n ormal screen after connecting th e video cable, please che ck the following: 1.
10 < Setup P rocedure > 1. Turn on MEDIAGA TE T1 and press [S ETUP] in the Mode Se lection screen. 2. Select the ‘TV Out’ icon and press [ ENTER]. Setup box will be displayed un der the icon menu. 3. Select the Video Outp ut Mode that you want and p ress [ENTER].
11 1.2.2 A udio Setup This is a guide for setting the audio output of your MEDIAG ATE T1. You can u se Stereo or Digital 5.1 ch. ü Analog /DCPM: Select when you con nect the supp lied audio cables (Red / White) to TV or Audio set directly. ü Encoded Digital: S elect w hen you w ant to lis ten through 5.
12 1.2.3 Network Setup MEDIAGATE T1 can connect t o a network . It is possible to obtain the IP address auto matically from your DHCP Server or Route r, or manu ally set a specific IP add ress. Check your ne twork environmen ts. ü DHCP On: You can use this option to o btain the IP addre ss automatically from a DHCP Server or Router.
13 <DHCP Off S etup Pro cedure> 1. Press [SETUP] in the Mode Se lection screen. 2. Select the ‘Network’ icon and press [ENTER]. Setup box will be displayed un der the icon menu. 3. Select ‘DHC P: Off and p ress [ENTER]. 4. Select 'IP A ddr' a nd press [ENT ER] The IP address Input box will be displayed.
14 1.2.4 Screen Setup This is a guide for sett ing the TV Type. You can use 4:3 Letter Box, 4:3 Pan Scan, and 16:9. The default setti ng is 4:3 Letter Bo x. <Setup Proc edure> 1.2.5 Preview Setup It is po ssible to enable or disable “Preview the pho to file as a thumbnail image” befo re playing.
15 1.2.6 LED Setup You may switch the backlight LED arrow button s on the front of the MEDIAGATE T1 o n or off. <Setup Proc edure> 1.2.7 Time Setup You may enter your Stand ard Time Zon e and ena ble or disable Daylight Savings Time . <Setup Proc edure> 1.
16 1.3 Basic Screen Menu 1.3.1 Mod e Selection, M edia Type Selection After turning on MEDI AGATE T1, you wil l see the Mode Sel ection screen. In t his screen, you can s elect the interna l HDD or Networked C omputers. Press [ENTER] after moving to the selected icon with the arrow keys.
17 2) Use Networking Computer 1. Select the 'PC-Network' ico n in the M ode Selection screen and press [ENTER] to access networking comp uters’ files.
18 1.3.2 File Selection After selecting a Media type, the ‘Fil e Selection’ screen will be displayed. Move t o a file th at you want t o play and pre ss [ENTER] o r [PLAY/PA USE]. 1. [ENTER ] button Play one file that you select. After playback i s finished, the ‘file selection sc re en’ will appear.
19 1.4 Play Video Fi les MEDIAGAT E T1 can p lay AVI, MPG, M PEG2 (TiV o®), MPEG4, DA T, M2V, a nd VOB vide o files. Select the ‘Movie’ icon in the Media Typ e Selection scr een. The Video file li st will be displayed. Select a f ile and press [ENTER] o r [PLAY/PA USE].
20 Subtitle Sync. It is possible to set the subtitl e sync. with (o ne second) (60 second) when mo tion and subtitle sync is not matched. 4, 5, 6 Number B utton Subtitle Color Change Subtitle color is changed when p ressing numbers 4 or 6. In order to re turn defau lt color (white), press numbe r 5.
21 NEXT I Playback Next File Play file after a current playback f ile. If you used [ ENTER] for playback, you cannot use this function. This is available using [PLAY/PAU SE] button o r 'ALLP LAY'. 0 Number b utton S creen Reset If a frame or v id eo file is broken, a green c olor runs on th e overall screen.
22 1.5 Play DVD Files DVD mana ger function supports DVD ba ckup files and will play the same as the original DVD. Make a folder and then save all back up files into t he folder. After connectin g TV (or Monitor), select VID EO_TS.IFO fil e at the folder.

24 1.6 Play Music Files It is possible to play MP3 , OGG, WAV, a nd WMA mu sic files. Select the Music ic on in the Media Typ e Selection screen. The M usic file li st will be displayed.

28 1.8 Make a Play-List User can register all media types of files lik e video, music, an d photo to a play-list. The regist ered media files play-list will be played without discriminating med ia type. ü It is not possible t o play each re gistered file inde pendently.
29 1.9 Remote Controls This guide is for basic remote control use. Fo r more details, please see; ‘3.3 Basic Screen Menu’, ‘3.4 Play Video Files’, ‘3.5 Play DVD Files’, ‘3.6 Play Music Files’, ‘3.7 Play Photo Files’, ‘3.8 Make a Play-List’.
30 1.10 Others 1.10.1 Music Slide Sho w Make a 'music' folder (in low er case letters) at t he root directory of the MEDIAGATE T1 HDD. Save MP3 f iles in the folder. If the HDD is divided into two or more partitions, make a 'music' folder at the first partition.
31 2. Pl ay ing y ou r TiV o® f ile s 2.1 Connect to External A V Device 2.1.1 Connect Video Cable You must connect MEDIAGATE T1 to an AV device (such as a TV set) in order to transfer your TiVo® files. MEDIAGATE T1 supports Composite, S-video, and Compone n t video connections.
32 2.1.2 Connect Audio Cable You’ll need to c onnect the a udio cable i n order to h ear the audi o coming from th e MEDIAGATE T1. MEDIAGATE T1 supports 3 typ es of audi o output; Stereo, Coaxi al, and O ptical. Use the audio connection t h at your TV or Audio s e t supports.
33 2.2 Connecting to your T i Vo® 2.2.1 Setting up t he Netwo rk Connection MEDIAGATE T1 commu nicates with your TiVo® via a Local Area Net work (LAN).
34 2.2.2 Connection via DHCP Server or Rout er In this section, your TiVo® box and MEDIAGATE T1 will be conn ected to a DHCP Server or router. It is possible to obtain the IP add ress automatically if you are using a D HCP Server or Router. ü DHCP On: You can use this option to o btain the IP addre ss automatically from a DHCP Server or Router.
35 2.2.3 Direct connection v ia Cross-Over MEDIAGAT E T1 can connect directly to your TiVo® box via a cr oss-over LAN cable. ü A cross-over Ethernet LAN cable (sold separately) will be required for this setup. ü Please refer to your TiV o® owners manual o n how to manually sp ecify an IP Address and S ubnet Mask on your TiVo ® box.
36 ü The IP Address of the MEDIAGA TE T1 M UST be within t he same range as your TiVo® box. For example, if ME DIAGATE T1 i s at 192.168 .0. 2 and the TiVo® is on 192.168 .1. 3, then they wi ll not be able to communicat e. The fir st three sets of numbers must matc h, while the fourth set o f number(s) must be unique.
37 2.2.4 TiVo® file selection This section will explain how to transfer your TiVo® files into t he MEDIAG ATE T1. <Setup Proc edure> 1. In the M ode Selection sc reen, select the Ti V o® icon and press [ENTER]. 2. Select your TiVo® account and press [ENTER].
38 2.2.5 Playing your TiVo® files You can watch your TiVo® recording s that are now stored on your MEDIAGA TE T1. <Setup Proc edure> 1. Select the 'MediaGate ' icon in the Mode Selection screen and press [ENTER] to access the HDD files.
39 3. Use as External USB HDD 3.1 Insert Hard Disk (for dri ve-less MEDIA GAT E T1 version) ü Use 3.5” IDE H a rd Disk for d ata storage. S ection 1.1 is for drive-less MEDIAGATE T 1 models. Pl ease skip to 3.2 if you have the MEDIAGA TE T1 with bu ilt-in drive.
40 1) After installing the driver, connect MEDIAGATE T1 and plug in power cabl e. Next, check to s ee if the driver is inst alled correctly by going to [Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, Syst em, Device Manager, Hard disk controllers] You should see Hi-Speed USB- IDE Bridge Con troller.
41 1) After connecting MEDIAGATE T1 to your computer and plugging in power cable, Windows will install the driver automatically. Check t he driver installation by going to [Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, (view all Control Panel options), System, Device Manager, Universal Serial B u s controllers] You should s ee a USB Ma ss Storage D evice.
42 1) After connecti ng MEDIAGATE T 1 and pluggin g in AC power cable, Windows will install the driver automatically. Che ck the driver installation by going to [Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, (switch to Classic View on Windows XP), S ystem, Hardware, Device manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers] You should see a USB Ma ss Storage Device.
43 3.2.4 Mac ü MEDIAGATE T1 wil l only work with Mac 10.0 or higher. You will not need to install the installatio n driver for M a c OS 1 0.x version or higher, as t he MEDIAGATE T1 will b e detected automatic ally. If t he MEDIAGATE T1 is detected correctly, a d rive icon will appear on your m onitor.
44 4. A ccessing PC via Netwo rk 4.1 Connect LA N Cable 4.2 Setting Netw ork Configurati ons After connecting LAN cable, you must set the network configuration s of the Computer and MED IAGATE T1 .
45 1) Select a folder that you’ll want to share. Right-click the folder and click ‘Sharing’ in pop-up me nu. 2) Check ‘Shared As’ and write your file designatio n in ‘Share Name ’.
46 6) Set the n etwork configuration s of MEDIA GATE T 1. Press [SETUP] on MEDIAGATE T 1 remote control to display the Setup screen. Sel ect ‘DHCP: Off’ and enter the IP address & Subn et mask. For examp le, you ma y enter: IP Address : 192.168.
47 1) Select a folder that you’ll want to share. Right-click the folder and click ‘Sharing’ in pop-up me nu. 2) Check ‘Share t h is folder’ and wri te your file designation in ‘Sha re Name’. 3) Click ‘Permissions’ and check whether the “Everyone” account is visible.
48 9) Check ‘Use the follo wing IP address’, and enter the ‘IP address’ & ‘Su bnet ma sk’ that you want to use. For examp le, you ma y enter: IP address : 192.168.1.3 Subnet mask: 255. 255.255.0 6) Check ‘User cannot chang e password’ and ‘Password never e xpires’.
49 10) Set the network configuration s of MEDIAGATE T1. Press [SETUP] on MEDIAGATE T 1 remote control to display the Setup scr een. Select DHCP: Off and enter the IP address & Subn et mask. For examp le, you ma y enter: IP Address : 192.168.001.002 Subnet mask: 255.
50 1) Select a folder that you’ll want to share. Right-click the folder and click ‘Sharing and Security ’ in pop-up menu. 2) Check ‘Share this folder on the networ k’ and write your file designation in ‘Share na me’. For examp le, “My Movie” 3) After that, the shared folder will be displayed as the following picture.
51 . 6) Go to [Control Panel, Network Connections] and select ‘Local area connections’ properties by right clicking with your mouse. 7) Double click on ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’ 8) Check ‘Use the follo wing IP address’, and enter the ‘IP address’ & ‘Su bnet ma sk’ that you want to use.
52 9) Referring back t o the Step 7) fig ure, clic k the ‘Advanced’ Tab. Disable ‘Intern et Connection Firewall’ by un-checking the box. 10) Set the network configuration s of MEDIAGATE T1. Press [SETUP] on MEDIAGATE T 1 remote control to display the Setup scr een.
53 <MEDIAGAT E T1’s IP Address> ü If you are conn ected to a DHCP S erver or R outer, select ‘DHCP: ON’. You wi ll be given an automatic IP Address and Subnet Mask from t he DHCP Server or Router. You c an then see the IP A ddress/Sub net Mask that was issued.
54 4.2.4 Firmware Upgrade Download upgrade fil e from www.pogoproducts. com when available. After connecting M EDIAGATE T1 to TV set, move to the upgrad e file and press [ENTER]. Upgrad e is progressed automatically. After finishing upgrade , you can check fi rmware version on Setup screen .
