Connecting your equipment 03 23 En Using the component v ideo jacks Component video should give superior picture qua lity when compared to composite o r S-Video. You can also take advantage of progressive scan video (if your so urce and TV are bot h compatible), whic h delivers a very stable, flicker- free picture.

Connecting your equipment 03 25 En Connecting analog audio sources This receiver features five stereo audio-only inputs. One of th ese inputs have corresponding outputs for use with audio recorders. One of the audio inputs ( PHONO ) is a dedicated turntable input which shou ld not be used for any other type of component.
Connecting your equipment 03 26 En Installing your speaker syste m To take full advantage of the receiver’s surround sound ca pa bilities connect front, cent er, surround and surround back speakers, as well as a subwoofer.
Connecting your equipment 03 27 En • Make sure th at all the bare speaker wire is twisted together and inserted fully into the speaker te rminal. If any of the bare speaker wire touches the back panel it may cause the power to cut off as a safety measure.

The System Setup menu 08 57 En • SB – Select the number of surround back speakers you have (one, two or n one). 1 Select LARGE if your surround back speakers re produce bass frequencies effectively. Select SMALL to send bass frequencies to the other speakers or su bwoofer.

Other connections 09 66 En MULTI-ZONE listening This receiver can power up to three indepen dent systems in separate rooms after yo u have made the proper MULTI- ZONE connections.
Other connections 09 67 En Basic MULTI-ZONE setup (Zone 2) • Connect a separate amplifier to the AUDIO ZONE2 OUT jacks and a TV monitor to the VIDEO ZONE2 OUT 1 jacks, both on the rear of this receiver. You should have a pair of speakers attached to the sub zone amplifier as shown in the fo llowing ill ustration.
Other connections 09 68 En Secondar y MULTI-ZONE se tup (Zone 3) • Connect a separate amplifier to the ZONE3/ SOURCE OUT digital output on the rear of this receiver. The amplifier m ust have an o ptical digital i nput to make this connection. This will allow you to hear the digital output of a compon ent in a second sub zone.
Other connections 09 69 En 3U s e t h e INPUT SELECTOR dial to select the source for the zone you have selected. For example, ZONE 2 CD-R sends the source connected to the CD-R inputs to the primary ( ZONE 2 ) sub room.
Other connections 09 70 En Switching compo nents on and o ff using the 12 volt trigge r You can connect com ponents in your system (such a s a screen or projector) to this receiver so that they switch on or off using 12 volt triggers when you select an input function.
