10 ENGLISH PREP ARING FOR USE Machine Packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. W e recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine Installation 1 Remove the drip tray with g rill from the packaging.
11 ENGLISH 11 5 Push gently on the edge of the water tank door to r elease the hand- grip. 7 Rinse the water tank with fresh water . 8 Fill the wat er tank with fresh water up to the M AX level and r einsert it back into the machine. Make sure it is fully inserted.
12 ENGLISH 13 Switch the pow er button to “I” to turn on the machine. The red led next to the “ ” button blinks. Y ellow 14 T o turn on the machine, simply press the “ ” button. T he control panel indicates that the circuit must be primed.
13 ENGLISH 13 USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME When using the machine for the rst time, the follo wing activities need to happen: 1) Y ou need to prime the circuit; 2) The machine will perform an automatic rinse/ self-cleaning cycle; 3) Y ou need to initiate a manual rinse cycle.
14 ENGLISH Automatic rinse/self-cleaning cycle When warm-up is completed, the machine automatically performs a rinse/ self- cleaning cycle of the internal circuit with fresh water . This takes less than a minute. 1 Place a container under the co ee dispensing spout to catch the small amount of water which will be dispensed.
15 ENGLISH 15 3 Select the pre -ground co ee brewing function by pressing the “ ” button. The machine shows this display . Note: Do not add pre- ground co ee into the compar tment. 4 Press the “ ” button. T he machine starts dispensing water .
16 ENGLISH 10 Press the “ ” button to star t dispensing hot water . Green 11 This icon is display ed. The machine reminds you to install the water dispensing spout. Check that the water dispensing spout is correctly installed. Pr ess “ ” to con rm.
17 ENGLISH 17 14 At the end, ll the water tank again up to the MAX level . Now the ma- chine is ready for br ewing co ee. Y ou will see the display as shown at the left. Note: When you haven ’t used the machine for 2 or more w eeks, the machine will automatically perform an automatic rinse/self-cleaning c ycle after you switch it on.
18 ENGLISH Measuring and Progr amming W ater Hardness Measuring water hardness is very impor tant for de ning the frequency in which the machine has to be descaled and to install the “INTENZA+” water lter (for more detail on the wat er lter see next chapter).
19 ENGLISH 19 8 Press the “ ” button to exit the programming menu. No w the ma- chine is ready to brew . “INTENZA+” water lter installation W e recommend you t o install the “INTENZA+” water lter as this prevents limescale to build up in your machine and preserves a more intense ar oma to your co ee.
20 ENGLISH 2 Remove the “INTENZA+” water lter from its packaging, immerse it ver- tically (with the opening positioned upwards) in cold water and gently press the sides so as to let the air bubbles out.
21 ENGLISH 21 10 Press the “ ” button to select “ON” and press the “ ” button to con- rm. Y ellow Replacing the “INTENZ A+” water lter When the “INTENZA+” water lter needs to be replaced with a new one , the following icon is displa yed.
22 ENGLISH Y ellow Green 5 T o exit, press the “ ” button. Now the machine is r eady to brew . The machine is now prog rammed to manage a new lter . Note: If the “INTENZA+” water lter is already installed and you want to remo ve but not replace it, select the “OFF” option instead.
23 ENGLISH 23 2 Lift the sides of the co ee bean hopper with both hands as shown in the image. Caution: Do not remov e the bean hopper in a di erent w ay to av oid spilling co ee beans . 3 After removal put the prot ection cover on the machine to prev ent dust.
24 ENGLISH 3 Remove an y beans from the co ee bean hopper compartment. 4 Inser t the co ee bean hopper into the compar tment as shown on the image.
25 ENGLISH 25 Co ee bean selection This function allows you to optimiz e the grinding for selected type of cof- fee beans. Y ellow Green Green Green 2 Press the “ ” button to access the programming menu. Scr oll the pages by pressing the “ ” button until the following icon is display ed.
26 ENGLISH Co ee emptying cycle If you want to change co ee beans, we recommend that you empty the co ee duct and grinder. In this way y ou will taste the full aroma of the new co ee beans. For this f ollow the steps below . 1 Inser t the co ee bean hopper with the new co ee beans.
27 ENGLISH 27 ADJUSTMENTS The machine allows f or certain adjustments so that you can brew the best tasting co ee possible. Saeco Adapting S ystem Co ee is a natural product and its charac teristics may change accor ding to its origin, blend and roast.
28 ENGLISH 3 The ref erence marks in the compartment for the co ee bean hopper indicate the grind setting. There are 5 di erent grind settings to choose from position1 for coarse g rind - lighter taste to position 2 f or ne grind - bolder taste.
29 ENGLISH 29 Adjusting the co ee dispensing spout The height of the dispensing spout can be adjusted to better t the dimen- sions of the cups that you wish to use. Move the dispensing spout up or down with your ngers to adjust its height as shown in the image.
30 ENGLISH Adjusting the C o ee Length The machine allows y ou to adjust the amount of brewed c o ee according to your taste and/or the size of y our cups. Each time the “ ” or “ ” button is pressed , the machine brews a pre-set amount of co ee.
31 ENGLISH 31 ESPRESSO AND C OFFEE BREWING Before br ewing the co ee, make sure that there are no warnings shown on the control panel, and that the wat er tank and co ee bean hopper are lled. Espresso and co ee brewing using c o ee beans 1 Place 1 or 2 cups under the dispensing spout.
32 ENGLISH Espresso and co ee brewing using pr e -ground co ee This function allows you to use pr e- ground and deca einated co ee. With the pre-ground co ee func tion you can only brew one co ee at a time. 1 Press the “ ” button to select the pre -ground co ee func tion.
33 ENGLISH 33 MILK CARAFE This chapter explains how to use the milk caraf e to prepare a cappuccino or frothed milk. Note: Before using the milk caraf e, clean it thoroughly as described in the “Clean- ing and Maintenance ” chapter . W e recommend lling it with cold milk (approx.
34 ENGLISH Inserting the Milk Carafe 1 If installed, remove the wat er dispensing spout as shown in the gure: - P ress the two buttons on the side to unlock it and lift it slightly ; - P ull the water dispensing spout to remove it. 1 2 2 Slightly tilt the milk carafe.
35 ENGLISH 35 Emptying the Milk Carafe 1 Press the r elease buttons to allow the r emoval of the top of the carafe . 2 Lift the top of the carafe. Empty the milk carafe and clean it pr operly . Note: After each use, clean the milk carafe as described in the “Cleaning and Maintenance ” chapter .

Now the “frothed milk ” button is programmed. Ev ery time it is pressed, the machine will brew the same amount of frothed milk that was prog rammed.

48 ENGLISH 3 Empty and clean the drip tray: - P ress the side buttons. - Remo ve the drip tray . Note: Empty the drip tray also when the full drip tray indicator is raised. 2 Empty and clean the co ee residues drawer locat ed inside of the ma- chine.
49 ENGLISH 49 Daily cleaning of the water tank 1 Remove the small white lter or the INTENZA+ water lter (if installed) from the water tank and wash it with fresh wat er . 2 Put the small white lter back or the INTENZA+ water lter (if installed) in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.
50 ENGLISH 6 Pull the milk carafe dispenser t o the left up to the “ ” icon. 4 Remove the lid and ll the milk carafe up to the MAX level with fr esh water . 5 Put the lid back onto the milk caraf e. 7 Place a container under the dispensing spout.

52 ENGLISH W eek ly cleaning of the milk carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough as it r emoves any milk r esidues from the dispenser . 1 Press the r elease buttons and remov e the top of the carafe. W eek ly Cleaning of the Machine 1 Clean the seat of the drip tray .
53 ENGLISH 53 4 Remove the suction tube (A). 5 Remove the tting (B) from the milk frother by pulling it outwards. 6 Detach the lid (C) from the milk carafe dispenser by pulling it do wn while slightly pressing on the sides. 7 F urther disassemble as shown in the image.
54 ENGLISH 8 Pull the tting (E) out wards from the milk fr othing device. E 9 Clean all the parts thoroughly with lukewarm water . Note: Y ou can also clean these parts in the dishwasher .
55 ENGLISH 55 4 T o remov e the brew group , press the «PUSH» button and pull it by the handle. 5 Thoroughly wash the brew g roup with fresh, lukewarm water and car e- fully clean the upper lter . Caution: do not use detergent/soap to clean the brew gr oup .
56 ENGLISH 10 Make sure the hook to lock the brew gr oup is in the correct position by rmly pressing the “PUSH” button until it locks into place . Check if the hook is at the top end position. If it is not, please try again. 11 Inser t the brew group in its seat again until it locks int o place without pressing the “PUSH” button.
57 ENGLISH 57 W eek ly cleaning of the co ee bean hopper , the tra y and the com- partment Clean the co ee bean hopper, the tra y and the co ee bean hopper com- partment once a week with a cloth to remove an y co ee residuals or dust. 58 ENGLISH Monthly cleaning of the milk caraf e In the monthly cleaning cycle we recommend using the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner ” to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues . Y ou can purchase separately the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner ” .
59 ENGLISH 59 9 Once the machine stops dispensing water , repeat steps 5 - 8 until the carafe is emptied. W arning: Never drink the solution dispensed during the proc edure. 60 ENGLISH 11 Remove the milk caraf e and the container from the machine. 12 Rinse and ll the milk carafe with fresh water up to the M AX level . 13 Inser t the milk carafe into the machine . Pull the milk carafe dispenser t o the left up to the “ ” icon.
61 ENGLISH 61 Y ellow 17 The following ic on is displayed during pr e-heating time required by the machine. 18 Once the machine stops dispensing water , repeat steps 13 - 16 until the carafe is emptied. 19 Remove the milk caraf e and the container from the machine.
62 ENGLISH 2 Lubricate the shaft too . 3 Inser t the brew group in its seat until it locks int o place (see “ Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group ” chapter). Insert the co ee residues drawer . 4 Close the service door . Inser t the co ee grounds drawer .
63 ENGLISH 63 1 Place a container under the co ee dispensing spout. 2 Make sure the water tank is lled with fresh water up to the “MAX” level. 3 Put a “Co ee Oil Remover ” tablet in the pre -ground co ee compar t- ment. 4 Press the “ ” button one or more times to select the pre -ground cof- fee function.
64 ENGLISH 8 Let the solution take e ect for approximately 15 minut es. Make sure you discard the dispensed water . 9 Switch the pow er button on the back of the machine to “I” . T o turn on the machine press the “ ” button. W ait until the automatic rinse cycle has been completed.
65 ENGLISH 65 Y ellow DESCALING The descaling process takes appr ox. 35 minutes . Limescale builds up inside the machine during use. It needs to be remov ed regularly as it may clog the water and co ee circuit of your machine. The machine tells you when descaling is needed.
66 ENGLISH 2 Inser t the empty milk carafe. 3 Remove the “INTENZA+” water lter from the water tank if it was in- stalled and replace it with the small white original one . Place the water tank back into the machine. 5 Press the “ ” button.
67 ENGLISH 67 10 Pull the milk carafe dispenser to the left up to the " " ic on. Place a large container (1.5lt) under both the milk carafe dispenser and the dispensing spout. 11 Press the “ ” button to star t the descaling cycle. 12 The machine will start dispensing the descaling solution at inter vals.
68 ENGLISH 19 When this icon is displayed , the water tank is empty . Repeat steps 14- 18. Then continue to step 20. 22 When the amount of water needed for the rinse cycle has been completely dispensed, this icon on the side is displa yed. P ress the " " button to quit the descaling cycle.
