4 Getting st arted Handset lift er installation 5. Pick up the lifter , turn it over , and peel the paper from the adhesive t ape. 6. Carefully ret urn the lifter to the same position that you noted bef ore and press down. 7. Follow the headset base inst allation steps on pages 6-10.
It may take some adjustments and testing to find the right position for the lifter . For the lifter to work properly , the switch hook must r elease completel y when you pr ess the ON /OFF button on the headset. The switch hook must also be pressed all the way when you press the ON/ OFF button on the headset.

9 Getting st arted Handset lift er installation Headset base installation with lift er (see Figur e 4) 1. Plug one end of the telephone line cor d (provided with your telephone) into the t elephone jack. 2. Plug the other end of the telephone line cor d into the wall jack.
Getting st arted Handset lift er installation 10 Adjust lifter audio 1. Make sur e that the LIFTER MODE light on the headset base is on. Press the MODE button on the headset base t o change the mode. 2. Put the headset next t o your ear . (A T&T model TL7610/TL7611/TL7650/ TL7651).

Remove the paper fr om the adhesive tape on the ring detect or sensor. 3. Stick the adhesive tape as close t o the telephone speak er as possible.

ST A TUS light The light is blue when the lifter is not in use and the ring detector is turned on. The light is red when the lifter is not in use and the ring detector is turned off. The light quickly flashes in blue when the ring detector senses an inc oming call.
14 Mak e a call with the cor ded handset As indicated in the figure, lifting the handset causes the lifter arm to raise and rel ease the switch hook. Y ou will hear a dial tone thr ough the handset.

Answer a call • Press ON /OFF on the headset to answer an incoming call.

18 T roubleshooting T r oubleshooting When I press ON /OFF on the headset, the handset lifter is lifted, but the call is not connected or I do not hear a dial tone.
19 T roubleshooting T r oubleshooting • First try all the suggestions above. • Mak e sure you have a dial t one before dialing. The corded handset or headset may tak e a second or two to find the telephone base and pr oduce a dial tone. This is normal.
20 T roubleshooting T r oubleshooting • If you are using a handset lift er , you should adjust the lifter audio first. During a call, slide the LIFTER AUDIO AD JUST on the side of the headset base from A t o G until the good sound quality is obtained.
21 Maintenanc e and safety Maint enance T aking car e of your handset lifter Y our lifter contains sophisticat ed electronic parts, so it must be treated with car e. Avoid r ough treatment. Place the lifter down gently . Save the original packing materials to prot ect your lifter if you ever need t o ship them.
