Disposal of the mac hine 4 - 1 4 Disposal of machine waste ● The proper disposal of machine waste is the responsibility of the customer. ● The materials used on the machines are steel, aluminium, brass and various plastics. The electrical equipment consists of plastics and copper.
T ranspor t pac k aging and storage 5 - 1 5 Transport packaging and storage 5 .01 Transport to the customer’s premises Within the Federal Republic of Germany, the machine is delivered without packaging. Machines for export are packaged in a crate or wrapped depending on how they are transported.

7 - 1 Controls ● T urn the mac hine on and of f b y switc hing the on/of f switc h 1 on and of f . When the mac hine is on, the light in the switc h is also on. The switch in the illustration can be found on machines with Quick motors. When other motors are used, the switch may not look the same.

8 - 1 Mounting and commissioning the mac hine 8. 01 Mounting The necessary electricit y and compressed air supplies must be available at the mac hine’ s location (see specifications). A stable and horizontal surface as well as suf ficient illumination at the mac hine’ s location.

8 - 7 Mounting and commissioning the mac hine 8 .03 Commissioning the mac hine ● Bef ore commissioning the mac hine, c hec k the electrical leads and pneumatic hoses for any damage. ● Remo ve pin 1 of the oil reservoir 2 ( Fig. 8 - 06 ). The pin serves only to protect the mac hine from damage during transport and must not be used when sewing.
Preparation 9 - 1 9 Preparation All regulations and instr uctions in this Instruction manual are to be obser ved! Special at tention is to be paid to all Notes on Saf ety! All preparation work is only to be carried out b y appropriately trained personnel.
Preparation 9 - 2 Turn the machine off! Use only system 1 34 - 35 needles! ● L oosen needle ret aining screws 1 . ● Insert needles as far as it will go (the longitudinal needle groo v e of the lef t-hand needle must be pointing to the right and that of the right-hand needle to the lef t).
Preparation 9 - 3 ● Place an empty bobbin 1 onto bobbin shaf t 2 . ● T hread the bobbin in accordance with Fig. 9 - 02 and wind it cloc kwise around bobbin 1 a f ew times. ● S witc h on the bobbin winder while at the same time pressing bobbin winder spindle 2 and lev e r 3 .
Preparation 9 - 4 9. 05 Inserting the bobbin case / Adjusting the bobbin thread tension Turn the machine off! T hreading the bobbin case. ● T hread the bobbin as shown in Fig. 9 - 04. ● When the thread is pulled, the bobbin must rot ate in the direction of the arrow .

Care must be taken that the lef t-hand needle is threaded from the right and the right-hand needle is threaded from the lef t.
Care and maintenance 10 - 1 Turn the machine off! ● Clean the hook compartment daily with a brush, more of ten if in continuous operation. ● T horoughly clean the hook once a week. ● Open the bed slide. ● Bring the needle bar to its highest position.
Care and maintenance 10 - 2 Fig. 10 - 03 Only use oil with a mean viscosity of 22.0 mm 2 /s at 40°C and a densit y of 0.865 g/cm 3 at 1 5°C. W e recommend PF AFF sewing mac hine oil.

Care and maintenance 10 - 5 Turn the machine off! Remove the compressed-air hose from the air filter. Emptying the water trap ● W ater trap 1 empties itself automatically when the compressed-air hose is remov ed from the air filter . Cleaning the filter ● Unscrew water trap 1 and filter 2 .

Adjustment 11 - 3 11. 04.02 P ositioning the f eed dog in the direction of sewing Requirement W ith the longest stitc h set, the bot tom f eed dog must hav e the same clearance the front and the bac k with respect to the needle-plate cutout when f eeding both for w ards and bac kwards.

Adjustment 11 - 7 11. 04.06 Lif ting motion of the bot tom feed-dog T his adjustment does not apply for mac hines without a bot tom feed lif ting phase (without P). Requirement 1 . W ith the needle bar at its BDC, the bot tom f eed dog must be at its TDC.

Adjustment 11 - 11 11. 04.9 T op-f eed strok e Requirement At the largest top-f eed stroke set ting and stitc h length „0“ , presser f oot 1 and vibrating presser f oot 2 must lif t 7.0 mm from the needle plate when the handwheel is t urned. Adjustment 11 - 12 11 . 04.1 0 Lif ting motion of the top f eed Requirement When presser foot 1 is resting on the needle plate, the vibrating presser f oot 4 and the point of the needle must both reac h the needle plate at the same time when the top f eed strok e is set at maximum.
Adjustment 11 - 13 11 . 04.1 1 B obbin-case opener (On Model 1 246 make these adjustments on both bobbin openers.) Requirement T he needle thread must not be clamped bet w een the bobbin-case opener 1 and the bob- bin-case base 3 nor ma y it be clamped bet ween projection 4 and the ret aining trip of the needle plate (see arrows).

Adjustment 11 - 15 11. 04.1 3 Needle thread tension release Requirement With the presser foot raised, both of the tension discs must be at least 0.5 mm apart. T he clearance of 0.5 mm is a minimum and can increase to more than 1 mm when using thic k threads.
Adjustment 11 - 16 11. 04.1 4 T hread c hec k spring Requirement T he mo v ement of thread c hec k spring 2 must be finished when the needle point enters the material (appro x. 7 mm spring path). Due to tec hnical reasons, the length of the thread-c hec k spring path can var y a lit tle in either direction.
